Wouldn't It be wise to not get worked up over power rumors for the NX? I seem to recall this being a thing before. I'd say it's best to just expect the weakness, that way there is no disappointment if it is.

I'm starting to think this guy is you ;)

I'd be fine if they just matched PS4 specs. To me, it's more about the exclusive catalog. If they can get 3 games I want, I'm in. I'm not sure Zelda alone will do it -- although it might!

Well there's bound to be a new Mario game too. So that's probably 2 must-haves right there. Not sure what the 3rd would be though.

A zebra can't its stripes. In Nintendo's case, they were the more powerful console only once, SNES. I don't see them changing.
This is not true as the N64 was the best its gen and the GC went toe to toe with XB.

Besides who is claiming it will be the most powerful?
It won't beat a $500+ Scorpio in specs and it doesn't have to...to beat its ass.

Saturn and PS1 were more robust systems.

It's always about winning something with you. Lol. The need to have some plastic win, that benefits you in no way, shape or form, is strong in you. Keep up the good fight.

The n64 was the strongest console that generation.
You are wrong again..do you ever admit being wrong?

A remake of Mario Kart 8 would do it for me. Or BC access to the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8 or Wind Waker.

I'm actually surprised, VaLLiancE , that you're such a champion of the NX. You seem to think it'll do pretty well. Can you explain why? (I'm sure you've done this already, but I can't remember). Seems like an unlikely bet.

He was the same way with the Wii U at first too. I think?

The Nintendo brand and history is STRONG and Nintendo makes Top notch exclusives which get high reviews and sales.

Its a easy pic actually...

It will be priced well:
Its Nintendo see above:
SEEMS to be x86 based which=3rd party support:

If they launch with a x86 console that is anywhere from XBO to Neo in power...plus Zelda is a launch title they could sell 10+ million is a years time and make a run for the 2nd place spot.

I recall reading a rumor they would port over some Wii U games. Probably end up being Smash for sure and maybe Splatoon or Mario Maker.

Their history is they make great games and f*** up everywhere else. There is zero reason to think they will get the hardware and features right.

No point in going back and forth... I disagree my money in on the NX being a hit.
But nobody knows but Nintendo what they actually have in store.
But to the mockers....you best hope they don't do things right cause I will be doing much quoting if they do :)

I'm with Valliance on this one. I think Nintendo went back to the drawing board and will make the NX competitive. Now I don't think its going to sell like the wii but its not going to tank like the Wii U.

Yeah, I think that's a fair bet. It can't tank as bad as the Wii U, and it would be near-impossible to replicate the Wii's success. So, it'll be somewhere in between. Although ... there's a lot of space in between!

Ok, thanks for explaining. I was wondering what your reasoning was. I agree they will price it well. I agree about strong first party, although the question there is always how fast can they deliver them, since that is all they sometimes have to offer. I'm not sure whether they'll get good 3rd party support, but I guess we'll see.

I'm just surprised to hear you championing them. I recall you being pretty negative in the Wii U threads -- maybe that came from your sense that they really f*cked up with that one. Maybe, like Showers, you think they'll get it (reasonably) right this time. That makes sense. I mean, companies do learn from their mistakes. Sony did. Microsoft did. No reason to think Nintendo can't (except, as a company, they do seem more insular and inward-looking than the other two).

I think the one thing that could tank them is if they try to get overly cute and "innovative" with the design -- you know, some weird hybrid that just doesn't click, doesn't capture people's imagination.

I was negative towards Wii U cause Nin messed it up...worse part is it's a good console but had no legs.
I also criticized XBO as I don't like the way MS handles it,Wii was just a mess and the PS2 needed a better online component.

I gave some reasons why I think NX will be a success...now let me add what happened the last time a Zelda released in the time frame of a Nintendo console launch(even though another console was getting the same game) that console sold out everywhere.

Never sleep on a industry leader or the power of its franchises. :)

Really like the climbing aspects of this game too. It's like Shadow of the Colossus meets Zelda. It can't get much better than that.

Touche. I'll play armchair analyst for a second. I'll wager that the NX sells out during it's release month and goes on to sell 8 million units in the US through the end of the year. This is assuming they put out a competitive and attractive product in price, features and lineup.

Sounds good. Anyone else want to make predictions of amounts sold through 2017? (Not me. I have no talent for prognosticating.)
