The Xbox One Thread

It's almost officially November, I'm now truly getting excited for the release of Xbox One. 22 days until I can spend countless hours playing Battlefield, COD, FIFA, Madden, NBA 2k14, DR3 and Forza 5.

I've been playing Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on 360. I'm truly surprised I hadn't played it sooner it is a decent game.

I know right, lucky you for being in Aussie land. I should fly over and visit my family there just to see Xbox One a day early (well almost a day) lol.

There's more to hardware power than pixel counts. It boils down to the end result of games. Pixel counts are just one part of the equation...a part that is fair to concede to Sony unless the Xbox can prove otherwise.

A lot of the cloud detractors point to bandwidth not being advanced enough for it to improve graphics. For the sake of argument....OK. What about dynamic worlds? Dynamic AI. Evolving games.

Have we reached the pinnacle in those areas that these consoles couldn't benefit? Why then are developers claiming that both consoles lack the balance of CPU power to keep pace with the GPUs for more evolution in gameplay.

If you're a multiplayer gamer, isn't there just a plethora of things that additional unlimited storage, dedicated servers, and additional cloud compute power could be used for?

It really doesn't change much. If resolution and pixel counts are your thing, neither console will keep pace with PC gaming for long. Console gamers generally don't rank that stuff at the top of their list. If they did, the PS2 wouldn't have been one of the most dominant consoles of all time.

As for Watch Dogs it was supposed to be a launch title so I'm not sure, but Destiny and Titanfall? Let's hope so.

Yeah for sure man. It could also mean that we need to be patient and sit it out a little longer. Could take a while before the....problem is fixed.

Game gifting as in...family sharing or is this different?

I'm a confessed fan boy of MS every since Sony used their muscle to kill Sega. The Xbox one is said to be at least 6 times as powerful as the 360, that's good enough for me. Currently playing through Crysis 3, no complaints here, if they can do that with the 360, the future is bright for the One.
I will admit with what happened to Sega that has always been a raw nerve these past few years (I loved my Dreamcast and Saturn) though it has dulled over time. It just taught me that Sony tends to over promise and under deliver.

After finally getting to play the PS3 version of Madden 25 last night, If I never see a Madden again, I won't be upset. What an appalling game.

I've read twice now Sony killed Sega. As a huge Dreamcast fan, I feel this is incorrect. First and foremost, my beloved DC collection:

Sega doomed themselves with their shoddy history, giving fans a legitimate reason to avoid the DC because Sega could go all Sega at any minute. Couple that with EA refusing to publish on the console, and the looming launch of Sony's PS2, the DC simply was not going to make it.

I played the Early Release on Xbox 360 and wasn't impressed to be honest but I live in hope that it is better on Xbox One.

Sony made a gaming console wich is a form of entertainment. MS made a entertainment console which plays really good games. I'll take the MS one. Who cares if it doesn't match specs. The X1 can do anything the PS4 can. While the PS4 cannot do everything the X1 does.

that is a very realistic, level headed way to put it and exactly how I feel.

I think the games look fantastic, as i have never been a pixel counter. that, combined with the awesome kinect and snap features, is why i am getting the XB1 first

Destiny and Titanfall are most likely "old engines" too, and won't support "Tiled resources". The "problem" is fixed when the DX 11.2 "Tiled resources" engines are ready. Forza's engine could be one, but I think the first we'll see is for Halo 5 in 2014.
Second gen PC multiplat games supporting "TR" will be when "the other console" *cough*MUDstation*cough* can't catch up any longer.
Not that it matters though

Well they should have been waiting for an Xbox, because that quote is from Bill Gates.

http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/news/2001/01/40970

Gates said the 3-D chips in the Xbox would be three times faster than anything on the market and offer nearly unlimited graphical visuals. "We're approaching the level of detail seen in Toy Story 2," he said, referring to the computer-generated kids film from Disney/Pixar.

"Game developers will finally be able to develop games as they can visualize it in their minds, without having restrictions placed on them due to performance."

It does sound like something Ken Kutaragi would say, though.

Good catch. I had it, no idea where it went.

lol. I have never seen that quote. I have just found I have generally seen a system announcement in the past and then Sony just absolutely trumping it, then reality sets in. Having said that I don't want to derail the thread, I will have a ps4 this Feb and being playing killer instinct in less then a month! All the while playing Wii u while posting! Happy days indeed!
