Official Thread Titanfall 2

I've been watching it on and off at work as free time permits, I'm about half way through.

Yeah, thought it was very interesting too. Practically it would have been impossible to do TitanFall in its current form without cloud compute (dedicated servers). I work with Azure day in and out so was interesting to listen to the tech behind TitanFall.

Xbox live compute seemed to the big thing for them. I just love the way they implemented the server stacking. Web server and a DB calling out to the cloud service to consume a server that was then pooled to be assigned. Any server not used for more than 15 mins is then discarded. Very slick.

I think Titanfall 2 is the reason why Microsoft opened up Azure for every game developer regardless of platform.
Yep! and Dat

from rentin' those servers :D

I just want to see what they do with Titanfall 2. The first game was fun, but could use some work.

It will be so epic that Titanfall 2 will be played in the clouds with DLC on the moon. The power of the cloud is real.

I'm instantly more interested in this 3rd person title than another titanfall...

New Titanfall game and Mass Effect: Andromeda coming in the next 14 months

Game developer Respawn has confirmed that they are currently working on a sequel for Titanfall. There is no official name or estimated launch date as of yet, however what was revealed is that the next Titanfall will be a multi-platform title.

When Titanfall originally launched back in March 2014 it was a Xbox exclusive title. However, with the news that Titanfall 2 will be multi-platform, there may be a possibility to see the original Titanfall on other platforms sometime soon.

EA has confirmed that a new Titanfall game and Mass Effect: Andromeda are slated to launch before 31st March 2017.

When providing a rundown of its fiscal 2017 (April 2016-March 2017) heavy hitters in its latest financial report, EA offered the following statement:

"In Q1, we'll begin with the creative and innovative Mirror's Edge Catalyst from DICE launching in May. A great line-up of EA Sports titles are in development for next year, and we look forward to sharing more about these new experiences in the months ahead. An all-new Battlefield game from DICE will arrive in time for the holidays, we're excited to have a new Titanfall experience coming from our friends at Respawn - and of course, Mass Effect Andromeda from the team at BioWare will launch later in the fiscal year."

Elsewhere EA noted that Star Wars: Battlefront shipped 13m units to retailers before New Years (including over 1m copies bundled with consoles). That's not the same thing as sold to consumers mind you, but it's still a decent barometer to gauge its success. It "surpassed EA's fiscal year guidance" anyway, so that can only be a good thing for Battlefront fans.

We already knew a second Titanfall game was in the works and would be multiplatform to boot. But this is the first time we've been given any idea as to when it might be ready.

Great news. I really hope Respawn continue to use Azure for the Xbox side of things.

Please give us a single player that isn't a cut and paste call of duty.

Also, I didn't know Titanfall used the source engine...

When I bought my Xbox One from a co-worker it came with Titanfall already installed. Barely touched it. Just went onto Xbox.com and noticed that there are like 3 different map packs up for free download right now. At some point I should probably give this game a try.

If they don't have a decent campaign mode, I'm not sure I will be picking up TF2. I really want a great SP with those play mechanics!

You should. It's really good at what it does. It's hard to argue with the value when it's free, and it really is a different kind of shooter.

Titanfall was fun but it got old quick. The way the population fell off I would say I was not alone in that feeling.

You certainly were not alone. The content was too thin. Just a hand full of weapons in each class not to mention the low amount of customization and progression really disappointed me.

It was a nice looking game but as others have said, the gameplay itself got kind of boring. I think the problem the series has is that the one thing that separates it from other shooters, the mechs, are actually pretty boring to play with. More and more you see shooters increasing the players mobility (Halo 5, Modern Warfare) and once you get in a mech you are limited to forward, back, left and right. Even Titanfall pushed the boundaries of mobility with wall running. The game is inherently flawed in that goal is to achieve a mech drop and it isn't as fun to play once you get it.

Let's see some cross platform play with Titanfall.

I'm going to start harassing Respawn about it for the next year and change.

Even if they wanted to do it I doubt they would get the ok from Microsoft

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that a deal has been made with Microsoft to ensure that Respawn Studio’s Titanfall will indeed not be released on PS4, ever. How does something like that happen? Money, and lots of it.

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen says Titanfall will be exclusive for the life of product for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
Oh man now all they're love of TF will be turned into fist shaking hate for such a garbage title...

I enjoyed TF for a while, it was a fun change of pace from Battlefield and was also cool that they gave away the season pass, I will probably pick it up down the line again I will just be too busy playing BF5 for my multiplayer.

It won't happen. Someone posted a link to a video of John Shiring from respawn giving a tech talk a while back. One of the questions asked was about cross platform. It's not something they are considering.
