Uncharted 4: 60fps "Really f***ing hard!!"

I have no doubt UC4 will play great and look pretty darned good. However, I don't assume it'll win GOTY though just because it's ND. There are several other games coming out that look more compelling to me. Dying Light was one of them. Incredible gameplay that dwarfs any of the gameplay elements of the past UC games IMO.

There will be other contenders and Dying Light is amazing but i just wouldn't bet against Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4. Their track record speaks for itself. They make great games and show up and win all the awards at the end of the year. I don't see this year being any different. Some minds will be blown with UC4.

You don't know if Uncharted has tessellation or not. Unlike a PC game like Crysis 2, tessellation doesn't need to be used everywhere as it is just plain inefficient. Tessellation can be indistinguishable from a non-tessellated high poly model, and Uncharted had some nice polys on the characters. You are just guessing here and there.

Ok. We'll see..

We'll have to agree-to-disagree here. UC games have excellent story, but the gameplay has been the same since Day 1. I don't foresee that formula changing much with UC4.

Ok. But you also missed the fact that Uncharted does in fact have accurate reflections showing the cave lining on the surface of the water. Anyway, it's just that we don't have enough to not do anything but assume most of these things.

LOL Dying Light won't hold a candle to UC4 stop!

All I can think of is how friggin' over-blown 60fps is. There is nothing wrong with 30, and Uncharted doesn't need it- never has.

I kind of wish 343i hadn't promised 60 FPS either. Just make the best looking and performing game as possible.

nope nope nope, 60fps is simply better.

Not being 60fps doesn't mean the game will suck or play like crap but they sure do play better at 60.

Yes, I saw the reflections for the static objects in the cave. There are no dynamic reflections that I can see yet.. which will be a good feature to add to keep up with mainstream graphics tech.

Joke is on you -- it already does to the past UC games.. :) I'd much prefer DL's gameplay over a lot of games actually.. Never felt like when I hit some enemy whether by gun, fist, or melee, feel so satisfying in seeing the response animation and damage in the location I hit. Simply brilliant and I doubt any game will follow suit anytime soon.

Did you see the reflection of the character model moving? it's there.

LOL@Comparing a third person game to a first person shooter. Come on now.....
LOL, Dying light isn't even close to a first person shooter, and it has far, far superior platforming than Uncharted has as well. DL really is something special, imo, and I didn't expect it to be. It is a definite GotY contender.

It also has more variety and dynamism in mission variety and enemy encounters than UC has, not to mention being open world.

Uncharted is also much more of a shooter. It's obvious you haven't played DL. It's not disparaging Uncharted- it's a fine game- but rather a testament to what Techland achieved in DL.

You cannot say one way or the other that the reflection isn't real-time if the object being reflected is static. As much as you keep wanting to and claiming, you can't.

The character model isn't static and his reflection also appears on the surface of the water as well, it's just hard to see unless you look because of the camera angle.

I don't think they understand the beauty in the gameplay of DL.

Remember folks, at the end of the year every game is compared against each other and only one (no matter the type) ends up winning GOTY.

I just saw the video again. I stand corrected.. I do see his dynamic reflection. Whether it's a mirror hack (reverse projection onto the surface) or not doesn't matter. I'll give it credit.

Also remember those types of awards are always subjective and what you or I feel is GOTY may differ from those who vote for those awards which pretty much renders the awards themselves meaningless. After all every site has their own GOTY, individuals will choose what game they felt was the best that year etc.

I had to look closely the first time too and the camera angle being low due to the scene taking place in a cramped area doesn't help lol.

One of the little details I really liked when watching the demo for this game was how the waterfalls actually looked like they had water falling and not just white clumps like most games use.

That's true. I was just addressing the comment coolstorybro gave as if I'm not allowed to compare a first-person game with a third person game. Silly.

So Dying Light adds elements of parkour and some melee action (which games in the past have already done), still doesn't change the fact that the game is in the FPS genre. This is not me knocking this game, because I think Dying Light is great. A very well presented game. But lets stop comparing two different genres, cause it is pretty laughable.

Pretty much because common sense says the gameplay isn't comparable. Two very different experiences.

So what? By your logic, there should never be an overall GOTY. Ludicrous! If the experience playing DL is better than the experience for playing a game like TLOU, guess what? DL wins best overall gameplay in my book. It doesn't matter whether it's an RPG, MMORPG, strategy, adventure, FPS, action game, etc..

The bright side of the character is on the other side of the camera and not within view of us. And Drake's backside is too dark to cast a proper shadow.

Adds elements? Shooting is a tiny fraction of the game( like, maybe 1%). Being first person doesn't make it an FPS, or put it in that genre at all. If it gets lumped in with FPS's, then it is incorrectly categorized. It's first person- that is the only similarity. Is Mirror's Edge considered an FPS? Because DL is pretty much ME with better mechanics( minus the wall run), and with a s***-ton more variety.

It has more in common with a brawler, and Uncharted is closer to a shooter, considering most of it's combat is, in fact, shooting.

I will never understand how the perspective dictates it's classification more than it's gameplay does.
