Nah, this is piling on Sony because they make the best looking games and that threatens some people here.
Well, Kassen responded to my post with a like, So I am assuming the point of my post may have got lost -probably my fault. I was hoping my previous post would have made clear my stance on this thread.
The point is not the frame-rate here, that is not issue affecting multiple platforms. The problem is people not understanding key words and/or not being able to read.
agreed way too sensitive, and it is nice PS4 will have a tomb-raider knockoff for their fans...A few people here are well too sensitive, when it comes to their favorite developers/game series/consoles.

I don't care what happens. I just want to play Uncharted 4. The game is going to be amazing.
Same here. I don't care if it's 30 or 60. Just make a good game (which I'm sure they will).
I know they will. The only people questioning Naughty Dog probably never owned a PS3. It's ND, all they do is deliver. If any developer has earned a pass it's them in my opinion.
You can dislike their games, but it's hard to question there graphically fidelity and polish.lol, you have to love how gamers think.
I had a PS3 and disagree on "ND always deliver." Uncharted on PS3 was poop, IMO. I did enjoy Last of Us but did not find it worthy of all the hype it received.
People can legitimately not like ND. Just because some of you worship them like a gaming deity does not mean all do or should.

Not going to disagree. I'm one of those that wasn't crazy about TLOU SP, though I think the MP is underrated.Great, the one thing they do well is one of the least important for a good game, but yeah, they make pretty games.

If they were still targeting 60fps, then why was their gameplay video at 30fps instead of 60fps. Why only do the worldwide debut at 60fps to hype us up only to release their next video at 30fps and not say anything? It is the easiest thing in the world to get a game to run at 60fps on a console, but the problem is that like all other developers, they don't know how to compromise to meet that frame rate target. If you target 60fps, you shouldn't get 30fps, and if you target 30fps, you shouldn't end up with AC: Unity. You shouldn't tell your audience you can trade weapons, and then release an MMO-less FPS space shooter. They need to do away with the weasel words and empty promises, or at least come out and say "hey, we decided against 60fps in favor of 30."Where did anyone say it was going to run @ 30fps when it releases? This is a PRE-alpha gameplay that was shown.
AFAIK, they are still targeting 60 FPS and noone else @ ND has said anything? Unless someone has a link, this thread is based purely on speculation. A lot of people jumped to conclusions in this thread.

But if our excuse is that it's only alpha gameplay, then what we are left concluding is that NaughtyDog hasn't had the game running at 60fps these past three years they have been working on it because they are too focused on making it pretty and then trying to squeeze extra frames out of a rock in the final year. If their current build was at least running 45-60fps and not 30-45fps, then they should have unlocked the frame rate and show off the quality they are targeting. I could be jumping the gun here; I doubt it, but I could; but I can't stand the idea of this game not being glorious 60fps, especially after teasing us like that.Again... the game is PRE-alpha. The game is still a year away from release and as far as we know, they are still targeting 60 FPS. To prematurely say the retail release is going to be 30 FPS based on a pre-alpha build is just jumping to conclusions.
Even if they are going to keep it @ 30 FPS, I'm sure ND will put in some more visuals galore to make it look even more spectacular. So why don't we all just sit back and wait and see?

Could be because ND wanted to have gameplay footage shown running at a stable FPS so that's why they locked it @ 30 for now. Who knows?
For the sake of a stable frame rate? Meaning that the frame rate was way too unstable to hit 45-60fps even after a whopping three years of development, meaning that they decided to pre-render/pre-produce their gameplay trailer at 30fps instead of 60fps for no reason, meaning they forgot they could run on supped up hardware or tone down graphics elements for at least live demo purposes, meaning NaughtyDog would have to now squeeze frames out of a rock to hit 60fps now, and meaning that they only prioritized 60fps for the E3 debut and nothing else. As a gambling man, I see it being highly unlikely the game is still 60fps. ND is making the same mistake everyone else is: the prioritize "prettiness" above all else over hitting that stable target frame rate.Could be because ND wanted to have gameplay footage shown running at a stable FPS so that's why they locked it @ 30 for now. It's not the same thing as frame rate. ND could have easily toned down the game to hit 60fps and still be gorgeous with us all gawking at it, assuming they have actually been trying to hit 60fps for the past three years. And we are still early into the next generation so most people wont tell the difference between gorgeous and stupidly gorgeous. But many games still sell extremely well despite not being graphically intense like CoD and Minecraft so I still don't see why it has to be so forcibly pretty as humanly possible.Lets say they did what you suggested, they toned back graphics, gave a live performance, what would happen ? You would have people b****ing about it not being a good looking game. I find it a little funny that you said,"ND is making the same mistake everyone else is: the prioritize "prettiness" above all else." Yet you are doing the same thing but with frame-rates.
I honestly have no clue why developers even pay attention to gamers. I mean they can never win, so why pay attention. I say just make the game you want to make, hit the targets you feel are good enough and release it.
Game will still be solid at 30fps. Doesn't matter to me that they switched. They have my $60.00.
