Until Dawn..1.5?

Surprised by the lack of hype for this. You would think Sony would want to push this.

The more I read and see the more I am tempted to buy. No problem waiting for the reviews or any here who buys it to post their impressions. Top concerns are the breadth of unique outcomes from choices made, if the story is gripping, and game length (needs to be longer than The Order, but not too long and drawn out).

There are some video reviews up on YouTube and I have seen everything from "do not buy this game" to "horror masterpiece". I did watch some of these YouTubers other reviews on games I had played and they seemed to be on the mark so this huge polarity on Until Dawn is both perplexing and stoking my curiosity to run out and buy it.

Gametrailers: 8.5
Gamespot: 8
IGN: 7.5
Kotaku: YES

There are plenty of 9s and 6s and 7s but seems solid if its a type of game that interests you..

Sitting at 81 on Metacritc after 11 reviews. I will wager it finishes in upper 70s. I am very interested but probably won't pick it up until its on sale.

I love the concept. But the Heavy Rain type gameplay is keeping me away until it's very cheap.

Oh and until I can replace/repair my PS4. ( *see niece baby daddy thread)

I see 2 maybe 3 reviews that I would trust/matter in that list and the average from them is almost Tripple A
Another purchase worthy exclusive....its on the way here

It's not my kind of game but the review scores are pretty high for the most part so that should be encouraging for people who like that kind of game.

Bitch I was hoping to ignore this game but, well I've been on a horror kick lately and I need this. Unfortunately I just started Murdered: Soul Suspect (not really horror I guess but you get the idea) so this will have to wait a bit. But it will be a good follow up before doing a replay of The Evil Within in October to complete the Halloween trifecta.

Between some really high ratings, my love for the choice/outcome story-driven games, and the dangling carrot of free pre-order bonus content I am taking the plunge via Amazon. Need to finish up Kings Quest with the wifey this week so I can spring on her our next adventure. Nice segue from Disney to blood curdling horror!

I won't likely be able to give impressions until this weekend so ya'll fence-sitters will already have plenty of opinions on it by then. Those who are going to be posting be sure to use the spoiler tags when needed.

Oh s***, you just gave me a good pitch for a PS4! My wife would probably love to play these games with me. The interactive movie games would be great for that. Heavy Rain, Beyond two souls, and this. Doesn't appeal to my gamer-self, but my entertainment-self could benefit! A little ironic, actually....

Yeah, sounds like a good game -- not great, but good. It's reviewing better than I expected. I half-expected another Order-sized flop, but it seems like an entertaining and unique game. Maybe not worth $60, though. I guess it depends on if you see yourself replaying it. It does supposedly offer a lot of replay value, in terms of different choices & consequences.

If it turns out good I'll add it along with Evil Within to my annual fall/Halloween playlist.

Lirik said he had a blast playing the whole thing yesterday. I watched most of it shamelessly.

Really wish I hadn't started Murdered: Soul Suspect two days before this released lol.

I'm watching a playthrough right now. "I'm" not far, but I find it very entertaining. I think calling it a game is reeeaaaallly stretching it, but it keeps me engaged to say the least. Lot's of watching, and it's a whole lot like a "pick your adventure" book. Still, as something fun to watch/play, it's seems great. It also looks like there are a lot of choices. It will be interesting to see if there are a lot of variations.

The main issue I have, though, is that for a game so dependent on selling the characters and emotion, it is deep, deeeeep in the uncanny valley. Dead eyes like I haven't seen in a while. I was closely watching and the faces move really well, but the eyes destroy the humanity quite a bit. They don't move around at all the way an eye should. Still, the voices help somewhat, but the dialogue is cheesy- but that's okay because it fits the theme.

It looks like the questions the doc asks will determine what they use to scare you in the future. That's a guess, but I bet it's right. Cool s***.

I'd definitely pick this one up if I had a '4.

Sounds good. I like a good adventure game like Heavy Rain to play once in a while.

UD controls normally. The cinametic camera angles give it a movie like feel when your exploring and solving puzzles. Glad you like it though.

My copy came in the mail today but me and the wifey can't get started until dawn...errr, until tomorrow night (with the lights out). I should stream with my ps4 cam on the wife, she jumps easily.

I haven't seen it in person. But the character models looked surprisingly good judging from video.
Everything but the teeth and the eyes. It's the animation that breaks it, imo. Much of it seems a bit over-acted from a motion stand-point, like stage acting but for film. It's a bit odd and uncomfortable sometimes. A poster child for the Uncanny valley. This one owns a chateau there, lol.

Everything else looks good. Even seeing the characters reflection in cabinets. Nice. Killzone Shadowfall had some great reflections as well if I recall correctly, and I'm pretty sure they are using it's engine here.

Yeah a few reviews I've read said its short but also say it has replay ability. With it possible to keep everyone alive and so on.

Looks interesting but yeah not something I would buy at full price.

I am blown away by this game thus far, only a couple hours in. To avoid the risk of any spoilers I will just say I am seeing so many things in the game that I have never seen done in games before. I think the graphics are outstanding whether it be character builds, expressions, animations, and overall tone set by the backgrounds.

The nerves come not just from the story but the whole decision-making processes and QTE's at any moments notice.

My son and his gal played last night, tonight it was me and my wifey with them watching along. They were blown away by how different our story was from theirs based on the difference in choices. This game takes creating your own story to a new level. I can already see the desire to play this game again.

It may make a difference to play this game with someone else by your side as we spent half our time discussing/arguing/agreeing over the choices we made.

Still early to make any calls on it but we are fully wrapped up in this title and if it can keep bringing itlike this till the end then this could be the first new IP this gen that I give a score of 9/10.

Wow, that's great, glad you're having fun. I think you're right, it probably adds a lot to have someone else playing along with you.

I'll have to pick this game up eventually. I'm hearing a lot of good things. Like Danny and Alexa say here, they went in expecting mediocrity and found it to be a lot better than they expected. I also keep hearing about how drastically your choices impact the outcome.

I'm thinking of picking this game up to play with friends. I think it'd be fun in a party like setting where we unravel the story together and decide on the choices together.
