Until Dawn..1.5?

So, just finished the walkthough.... Awesome stuff! I really like that your actions have such an impact. The guy I watched only lost two characters. What's crazy is that you don't know if you could have saved everyone, or what the effect of your choice will be. That last sequence was intense as hell, lol, I found myself freezing during the "don't move' Bits. Really cool, and I hope to see more of these. I need an unscrupulous developer to copy the s*** out of this game and put it on X1!

This is going to be $40 at Best Buy next week. Might be a mistake on their part as the game sold out in some places so I doubt they shipped many copies. Good deal either way.

What day does BB change their weekly sales? Might ask an American friend to get me a copy.

$40 at Best Buy next week tells me it's only going to go down in price from here on in.

I am getting FIFA 16 for both the X1 and PS4 and it will come with $10 reward certificates for each IF the prices remains $40 I will use my GCU and $20 in certificates towards this game.

I should be able to pick it up for $12 + tax.

Doesn't look like a sale. So either a mistake or permanent price drop. CAG and GAF are battling over the truth of all this.

I would pick this up for $39.99 on PSN if they go to that price. I am watching a live broadcast of the game now, and the game looks like my kind of game. It is keeping me on the edge of my seat right now as I type this (he was picking up a key to get in the building as they were getting chased...or so they made it seem).

When they say it seems short, how short? I know I won't play it more than once due to time.

8 to 10 hours, I think?

I recommend renting it

Most people enjoy playing through more than once. Definitly worth a buy if your wanting to save all the characters and play the full story. If you want a short experience it's good for that too.

The $40 Best Buy price was a misprint. Apparently, it is not a misprint that shows up in newspapers or on circulars, but it may still exist on in-store ads, which were part of a different run. So, if you want to see if it's available for $40, you'll have to go to your local Best Buy and check out their in-store ad (and hope they don't have a correction posted). A couple of guys at GAF and CAG have been successful.

Thanks guys. So would you say that the game is MOSTLY QTE? I mean, I did watch them control the character, but it seems every interaction is a button press? I just was curious if it was more mixed up than that?

The actions in the game involve you moving about, finding clues, and simple object manipulation. There are action moments that have timed QTE's which often pop up out of nowhere so you have to be on your guard (that said, I am not the nimblest and missed only a couple - they are easy). There are also some choices you have to make which are timed, other choices you can take your time and think about.

This is more story than it is action. But you feel a deep sense of being a part of the story.

Glad to hear it Oblong. This has become a must play for me.

Ok. I'm not sure how many have actually took a go at this game, but i must say it most definitely IS a sleeper hit; it keeps you alert quite frequently throughout the story, and the butterfly effect is, by far, the best I've seen in these types of games. If you are skeptical, I'd advise giving it a rent at least.

I don't want to spoil anything for those looking to give it a shot, but i will tell you this: there are TWO different accounts playing this game simultaneously, and the outcome is quite different. :)

Yeah, I'm not a horror movie/game fan at all, but I want to play this game, based on the positive impressions. I saw Gamespot gave it its Game of the Month award for August (not that there was huge competition, but they said more good things). I just need for it to drop to about half price.

Yeah I'm interested as well but not for $60.

Mario Maker is $60 as well. Like really Nintendo?

Seemed to have some pretty good replay value. What's there seems pretty great to me, and is absolutely how these sorts of games should be done, imo.
Its why I don't prefer these types of games.
If they made a 20+ hour campaign with different paths/outcomes then I be all over it.
But $65 for a short ride...?Rental seems more reasonable.

You maybe play games differently from me. My wife and I have been playing this game 3-4 nights a week anywhere from 1-2 hour stints and I believe we are somewhere around two-thirds done. We are already talking about going through again because of some undesired outcomes and we just want to see for ourselves how different the story can be. The story is compelling enough to warrant another playthrough. I could even see this being a yearly Halloween affair for us to revisit.

It would cost us $30 to see a 2-hour non-interactive movie and this game has have far more value already than going to the theater to see 2 shows.

You don't have it and haven't played it. I have yet to see anyone that has say that this game isn't fully worth it's value.

I had it here @ my house...I bought it for my son who played and beat it and I watched him various times.
He had no desire to play through it again and asked me to trade it in immediately.

Well you are the only person I've seen who has felt this way. (shocker)
Depending on how it all wraps up this game is in contention for my personal GoTY. New, fresh, creative, great graphics and mood setting, this game has been much more than I ever anticipated.

That said, I agree it surely doesn't add up to the gameplay hours/value of a GTA, Forza, Skyrim, FIFA, etc. But for a story-based game it does as good if not better job than other full-priced rides like The Order, Heavy Rain, Evil Within, etc.

Why is it a shocker that I feel this way? Also I am the only person who feels this way eh? What's the Metacritic average say?
If you like short expensive rides that's your prerogative but many don't and need to know before spending $65 is all I am saying.

Been watching the Roosterteath lets play. Has some cool ideas and apart from the teeth the characters faces look great.

Why is it we still can't get good looking teeth in games?

Does look like a game a few mates can play together at night and have a good laugh worth the odd jump scare.

The Meta is at 80 which is "green" - meaning good buy, good value, good game.
Short is relative. 9 hours is the average I am hearing. I know it's going to take me and my wife 10 or 11 hours because we are searchers. Did anyone call LotR's movies "short" at 3 hours? It's all relative. I think this story is long.
And my opinion is the creativity, freshness, and great design of this title should be supported and the devs rewarded for a new IP and gamers should "vote" to see more of such. (FYI-I never once ragged on your beloved Destiny, I could though).

Sorry Andy, feel free to move to UD thread but I needed to respond.

$65 is to much for a 9 hour game unless it has multiplayer and this doesn't.
If it was priced lower it wouldn't or had a MP component it wouldn't get slack from me.
$39.99 is a decent price for these types of games IMO.

FYI 3 hour movies are different...and way cheaper so lets not go there.

Teeth? Yeah they are not great, but it's the Eyes that ruin it. They don't have micro-movements, and that is soooo critical to a believable looking human. Ryse is still one of the best ways to do it right. That, and *insert Naughty Dog game here*
