Updated 10/15/13: A fans experience at the Xbox One Tour in Philadelphia, PA!

The graphics on the other hand were far less impressive though I could only race on the somewhat barren Bathurst track. While what I equated as real time shadowing and reflections were impressive, the rest was not and I found roadside textures to be flat and lifeless for many objects. Again, how far along this build was I really don't know.

Overall I couldn't help but walk away feeling let down but my first test. Graphically I didn't see anything that I don't feel couldn't be done on current gen bar some reflections and have serious concerns about the build quality of not only the controller, but the hardware within the console.
Over the next few weeks I'm going to be carefully scrutinizing game footage and reading every shred of information I can to decide if I'm going to infact show up to pick up my preordered Xbox One.

Bathurst track eh?

That might be a different demo than the one I played a couple weeks ago which had the Leguna Seca track.

Did you notice very apparent aliasing after you chose your car and it does the showroom slow 360 thing around the car while it's loading?

Also, after I played it like you I felt dissapointed. I wanted to be impressed but just wasn't, but I'm still getting my pre-order and I'll tell you my reasoning:

I know I'm going to get it anyway, so why not get it right away? Yeah I could wait for a price drop, but that will probably be at least a year away to save a max $100. Is a year of next gen worth $100 to me? Absolutely. Also I'm more looking forward to playing around with the dashboard and kinect and stuff than even the games. The really good games will start coming early next year hopefully.

But yeah, I'm concerned that I won't get that next-gen feel with the first batch of games. 360 I got that from Kameo (textures) and COD2 and PGR3, not like blown away but apparent step up from the original Xbox.

I stepped up to hold the Xbox One controller for the first time carefully examining it as Forza booted up. I noticed immediately how light it was... too light in fact. While pleasing to the touch I couldn't help but feel that Microsoft had used thinner, cheaper plastics this time around.

Overall I couldn't help but walk away feeling let down but my first test. Graphically I didn't see anything that I don't feel couldn't be done on current gen bar some reflections and have serious concerns about the build quality of not only the controller, but the hardware within the console.

Thanks for the impressions. Looking forward to seeing demo units myself for PS4 and XboxOne.
The rumble feedback of the controller sounds wicked. Imagine all the cool stuff they'll use that for.
I know some people aren't a fan of rumble, but I definitely am.

One thing that impressed me initially going from Dreamcast to Xbox originally, was the weight of the Duke controller. Much heavier than the DC controller, it felt like it was built tougher. The triggers were firmer, the plastic thicker. Picking up anything less than the Xbox360 controller will be disappointing.

The other has been the jump in graphics for each generation. Playstation>Dreamcast, Xbox>360. I'll be quite a bit let down if I'm not similarly impressed with this new generation, especially since it's been 8 years since the last hardware upgrade.

the controller didnt feel cheap at all, you must of picked up a fisher price controller because I the I had had a top quality feel to it.

You'd be surprised by how much "online" footage differs from reality.

Hell, everything you see on an E3 stage, etc, is never what the final product looks like.

I remember that Shaun White snowboarding game at a past E3 where they showed the kid coming into the living room and gets on his board and starts having a blast....game was NOTHING like that.

This is what I figured as some have been mega exaggerating.

Going to post some pics and answers from XBox Tour from Murfreesboro Tennessee in a few minutes. Any questions ill try to ask.

Hmm, well I have good news from my perspective.

I went to the Best Buy nearest me today to check out the demo.

It was on what I'd say was a 40" LG TV. You could play Forza or KI, same as the last demo I went to where I thought Forza has serious aliasing problems that had me concerned.

It looked much much better this time but it was probably the same demo as the track and cars were the same (Laguna Seca)

So yeah, huge relief. It looked really good, though there was still some noticeable aliasing, it was drastically better than at the other demo tour I went to a couple weeks ago when it was on a Samsung display of maybe 32-37".

I guess the TV quality and set-up makes a big difference, which I was hopeful was the case the first time I played it since I have a somewhat high end LED.

I certainly feel better and more excited for the XB1 now :)

And I picked up Halo Reach finally, so I'm off to dive into that now.

Ok, so I went by the truck setup this afternoon in TN. Not many people there at all so I was easily able to get about 15 Forza5 races in and 5 rounds of KI.

My impressions:

General
Whoever said the controller felt cheap or like a Fisher Price toy...didn't seem that way at all to me. Actually it felt comfortable from the start not too unlike the current one. I liked the smooth transition as your forefingers wrap around the triggers. Loved the rumble trigger effect!

The unit seemed smaller than I expected after hearing talk of how big people said it was.

Kinect was there but not hooked up. I did play around in the menus a little and did take this pic showing some of the Kinect screens:

Forza5

I am a big Forza fan, have them all and have spent countless hours playing each. Forza5 was smooth as butter, the 1080p and 60fps was certainly apparent. Handling was fantastic and the rumble triggers really added to the feel of it all.

Took way to long to get into a race, hopefully some of the pre-race pics from the showroom can be disabled in the full game.

The AI drivers were more realistic making errors on the track and also being overtly aggressive at times (effin' Rossi, he would come into me without provocation sometimes). One hopefully unfinished thing I saw was when the AI went into the sand they didn't seem to slow down much where I would get bogged down just like in past versions.

Damage was minor, mostly showed paint scrapes rather than actually body damage. Did see a headlight cover smashed once. I tried to get really crazy on a couple races and did manage once to slide over the finish line on the passenger side of the '54 Mercedes. The bumping and jostling in race did seem to have better physics reactions than prior Forza's.

The bad news was between the 15 races I did the demo locked up 3 times and they had to reset the machine (I was on 2 different machines). Happened everytime I picked the Ferrari, maybe I was doing too much buttonmashing to try to get to the race. They said these were dev kits and it was happening here and there. It seemed to be more of a demo crash than a XB1 crash as I could still hit the guide button and get back to the dashboard, but the demo wouldn't refire up from there.

Overall I want to see more but what I saw looked great and certainly nextgen but not OMG mindblowing. Wish I could have done Prague or Bathurst.

Killer Instinct

Not a fan of fighting games but this one in its next gen glory was a real head turner. Controls were responsive. This may sound funny but the backgrounds actually stood out more than the fighters themselves. Effects were neat and I liked how you transitioned from warmups to fighting. Not my cup of tea but between the 2 demos this was the one everyone there was wanting to play.

I sort of wish I hadn't gone down there as now waiting the next month is going to be even more difficult. The MS marketing person did say that there would be more units setup in Gamestops and Best Buy's around town in the next week and they would be showing off more on those units.

Final thing, standing out in front of WalMart a car of fanboys drove by yelling "PS4, PS4, PS4!!!" LOL :laugh:

Larry hryp aka major nelson will be in Orlando on 10/23
any one going? I cannot, new job and all
its at a new Microsoft store, millennia mall
I asked ketto as I thought he lived in this area

Got a chance to go back to the event for a little while. Played Ryse, Forza, & Dead Rising 3. The games are fine but I had to put my expectations at a realistic level. These are launch titles and so they're not going to be mind blowing Overall, everything feels like an Xbox experience, which is a good thing.

I pressed the guide button while playing the Forza demo and saw that they were dev kits running the games...and then the game crashed...oops, lol So much for checking out the dashboard and other features. That's one thing that I and some others thought they should have had, a demo of the dashboard and other system features. But the system will be out soon enough and we'll see some reviews of that I'm sure.

Here's a few snaps I took.

Slick pics Wiseguy. Peggle 2!

For BF4, how's the frame rate, blur effect and screen tearing?

Seemed pretty solid from what I watched but i'll be honest and say that I didn't scrutinize the framerate too closely. Didn't notice any tearing, maybe a bit of blur but nothing objectionable.

You didn't happen to get a chance to play Peggle 2 did you? Or know anyone who did? Impressions? Really really looking forward to it.

Did they hold the event in someone's basement?

Seriously though, nice, sharp photos. I love the 2nd shot of Ryse. Pretty much encapsulates the game right there.

@drewfonse Thanks, took photos with a small Canon S100. It takes some nice photos for such a small camera. They held the event in a warehouse. I'd like to see them pick a different venue for future events.

@Z A C K Sorry, I didn't get a chance to play but I did ask a girl working there what her favorite game was and she said loved Peggle 2.

the Orlando one had huge lines..
free t shirts and 12 month live cards
the lines went from the store around the rotunda, down the hall
even if you got there before 6pm you might have had trouble getting in
I could not go..

from another area I belong to hope I can paste this here?

so i have just got back from the london xbox tour and thought i would share my views.
just a bit of background on myself im just a normal guy and have been an avid gamer since owning a vic 20 in the early 80s and have had or played pretty much every console or computer since then and i sometimes still play my c64 or n64 so i am not biased towards the xbox one or ps4 i just like games.

firstly the console itself i really liked the look of the console and was surprised that it was not as big as i thought was going to be and it was very quiet.the game pads are excellent and felt nice and weighty with all the buttons in the right places i had no problems from adjusting from the larger 360 pad also my friend who has a ps3 really liked the pads saying it was the best pad he has used playing fifa.
first game i played was fifa 14 it looked nice and sharp and the animation is better than the 360 version and there are nice touches like the crowd animation and the close ups of the players.it also plays well but if you looked at quickly you would think that it is running on a current gen system but overall the game was good and if you like the current gen fifa then you will enjoy this one.
next i tried forza 5 this i one of the games i was looking forward getting my hands on most because of the rumble triggers and i have to say i was not disappointed as it really felt good.if you pressed to hard on the brakes you would feel it so you would ease of a bit and the same when you accelerated to hard you could feel the tires spinning so just slow it down a bit.i really think this will help with the gameplay as if like me you keep the line indicator on when playing so you can see where to brake you no longer need to as you can feel it through the triggers.the graphics were very nice but there were some jaggies on the car showroom and during the race but i think this has been discused already as being from an old build of the game but overall i really enjoyed it and am looking forward to playing again on 22nd.
thats it for now i will try and add my what i thought about the other games tomorrow

Nice impressions. Any pics?

For anyone whose seen FIFA 14 in action, are the replays dumbed down to 30 fps or less like 360? I find replays in EA Sports games on 360 always take a nosedive in frames.

Just wondering, since it may be an indicator of fps in all EA Sports replays/cut scenes.

Nothing's worse than watching a replay of a goal scored in NHL and the puck goes in at 12 fps.
