What movies have you seen recently?

Yeah, it is pretty dark.

Another Korean movie I thought was OK was The yellow Sea. If you like The Yellow Sea then you might like The chaser. I was not a fan of the latter, but they are similar movies.

I'm pretty much going through every Korean movie netflix has available for streaming. So far I've liked most of what I've seen with "Perfect Match" being... well, I haven't finished it but other than the female lead constantly getting tripped, falling or getting her face stuck in an automatic door the movie has been pretty predictable and boring.

If you find any other Korean movies that you like please share here as I want to see as many movies and hear as many songs as possible. The language really intrigues me (especially its origin) so I'm trying to learn it and the movies help a hell of a lot more than the music.

Either I, or team56th, can help you with that.

Okies... This is all the Korean movies I have seen that were good or awesome. It is a short list though...

I saw the devil - Awesome
Old Boy - Awesome
The Host - Good
The Good, the Bad, the Weird - good
New World - Good
The Yellow Sea - Good

Also, if you want to watch a more western movie helmed by a fantastic Korean director, then check out Stoker, starring Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowski, and Matthew Goode.

He's probably seen those. IdleHands, list what you've seen this far.

Stoker has been on cable the past month. I watched it again. Hitchcock would have approved.

Yeah. Idle, first thing you gotta do, tell me what you watched so far. We can start there.

I'm not sure which Korean movies are available in States, but far as I know, there has been always more than I presumed. And I know Snowpiercer has already been a hot topic among American film buffs, but it's an English-based film (technically not Hollywood one; funded by Korean company 100%) from the director of Memories of Murder (Plainview's all time favorite) and The Host, so you would want to watch it.

I'm about halfway through Devil and I WILL finish it (well, start over and finish it). I just have to be in the right mood and lately I've been in high spirits and don't wanna sully that with such an intense film. I have oldboy listed and have seen parts of TGTBTW. The Host I thought was just a monster flick and passed it up, but I'll list it and give it a shot.

TY for the suggestions.

Plainview

I posted earlier as to what I've seen, but I'll mention them again for anyone interested in good/fun Korean movies.

My girlfriend is an agent. I really liked it. I laughed a bunch and found both leads to be entertaining to watch.

The man from nowhere. This one... I saw it about a week ago for the first time, I've seen it three times already and will watch it again soon. Others have made the comparison of this being Leon: The Professional with a side of Taken.

Save The Green Planet

TY, unfortunately not available (on netflix) for streaming. :(

threw it in my cart @amazon, might buy a few movies.

Just wish I could find them with english & korean subs at the same time.

I watched Shaolin Basketball hero- Its a poor man fix for Shaolin Football. I give it 5.5/10

Taichi hero- I actually watched the prequel Taichi zero before. Its pretty much what I expect, keep your wits at the door & watch it, & its a half decent entertainment. The main actress is glorious, with a silly name, Angelababy.

Looks like The Interview won't be added to this list any time soon.

Jug Face

Kind of an odd indy horror effort about a cult of moonshiners that worship a pit in the woods and provide human sacrifices to it. Basically, a potter in the community is sometimes seized by a trance and sculpts a jug in the shape of someone's face. The "Jug Face" is the person chosen by the pit to die.

The low budget shows in some of the FX, but it's actually presented well with good acting. It only needed a better ending IMO to really complete it.

Just watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on one of the pay channels yesterday. I didn't mind the first Amazing Spider-Man, Garfield isn't half bad as Peter and I can just about always watch Emma Stone but, man did the second movie stink. The plot was terrible, waste of Electro and a stupid forshadowing of the Sinister Six. WTF is up with the abomination that is the Rhino...

Sony might still have it distributed. Dollars to donuts on it being on Crackle, their digital movie place dealio.

You're living in a fantasy world. Sony has be warned about distributing it in any capacity, and since they obviously have no back bone and would rather waste the millions it cost to make than update their security system, it is never going to come to light. Well, unless hackers hack them and leak it to the web.

Sony lawyer says it will. Somebody just needs to step up to the plate so to speak. One way or another, they'll put it out there. This has become their most expensive movie ever and they need to recoup some kind of profit off of it.

X-men days of future past 8.5/10

EXODUS: Gods and Kings

Slow start, but a Big Finish watching Egypt get an Old Testament Assbeating.

A quality film IMO even if it felt a little long on the middle. Also felt the "Plagues" and related Special FX were handled very well.

My only nitpick is sometimes the accents seemed a bit off.

Also, it's no fault of the filmmakers, but I kept chuckling a little bit at John Turtorro as Pharoah because I always remember his role as Jesus in The Big Lebowski. I really want him to point right in the camera and say "You don't phuck with the Pharoah Mon!!".

The Adjustment Bureau

Based on the short story The Adjustment Team by Philip K. Dick. It's always weird when his short stories are stretched out into feature length films and script writers kind of extrapolate from them to create filler content.

I do feel this was a missed opportunity to be more faithful to the original story which as usual with Philip K. Dick was much more surreal. Overall though, the movie was a decent sci-fi effort trying to deliver something different (Even if it is comparable to The Matrix)

I watch Love Actually again, because Christmas.

I also watched hotel transsilvanien, pretty funny animation.

The Interview - Good

I hate Seth Rogan as a lead and went into it completely expecting to hate it. Well, I didnt. It was better than I thought.
