DayZ appears on Xbox Store, features Xbox One X enhancements

Do you remember DayZ?

DayZ is an open world multiplayer game which found popularity on PC some years ago. The goal is for players to survive on a post-apocalyptic map for as long as they can. Many gamers consider DayZ a hardcore experience because there are no tips, waypoints, tutorials, or lives. If you make a mistake and get killed, you lose everything and have to start from the beginning with nothing. Just like other titles in the genre, scavenging resources is the focus here.

A few years ago, Bohemia Interactive announced that DayZ would be coming to Xbox Game Preview "soon". Unfortunately, the wait turned out to be longer than expected and a few months ago, the team promised that the game would launch on Xbox One in 2018. It seems that that day is almost here because, today, a listing for DayZ appeared on the Xbox Store and many gamers — including Xbox's Larry Hryb — are already playing it.

The listing doesn't provide a release date, but it says that the title is "Coming Soon". Apart from that, it's Xbox One X Enhanced and features "4K Ultra HD" support on Microsoft's new console. A few weeks ago, the developer wasn't sure if it would be able to get the game running at 4K on the system, but it seems that the team has achieved that. It's unclear if there will be a 1080p 60 FPS mode as originally promised.

Lastly, the download is 12.9 GB. The final size may be larger because games sometimes require more storage space one they're installed on Xbox One. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know further details like the exact resolution and release date. Until then, you can admire the listing on the Xbox Store.

So admitted PARITY
Fake 4K

oh well I am happy to get it enhanced :)

It looks great on the Pro so at least One X owners are getting something decently better than they had on the standard X1. It's a shame it took them so long to do this though, it almost seems pointless with a new BF just a couple of months away.

That's a little unsurprising seeing as BF in MP is much more CPU bound than GPU bound.

"Battlefield 1 on Xbox One X uses checkerboard rendering and a dynamic resolution with the highest pixel count found being 3840x2160 and the lowest pixel count found being approximately 3072x1728. The resolution often seems to be between approximately 3490x1964 and 3840x2160."

That's not too bad even for it being a uprezzed console spec setting of the game.

At the lowest resolution XB1X runs BF4 is higher than the ps4 pro runs it at it highest if I'm not mistaken(1650p max for pro?) That's pretty decent. Nothing incredible.

DF take on BF1 patch

I knew this was going to happen with these upgraded consoles. 3rd party developers were rarely if ever going to take full advantage the extra 4GB of RAM on the X. Most would just have a res bump over it's PS4 Pro counter part because that is the easiest and cheapest way to add support. Especially on games that already have a dynamic res scaler implemented.

Would've been nice to see a native resolution instead of that checkerboard stuff. The game has a lot of post processing that probably hides some of the artifacts but I just don't understand the get from it.

I’ve been playing Halo 5 again in 4K and it looks great. I know the game rarely touched 1080 on base so it’s been quite the upgrade.
