Xbox One X

TMCC was the dream, they soured so many fans with that release. I'll be excited once i see something improved, until then not worth even getting my hopes up.

Late to the party watching the Halo footage from earlier:

-Halo 5 LAN Servers (similar to what they use for tournaments)
-TMCC Xbox One X update: server/matchmaking change, bugs, Scorpio enhancements

Should have been the greatest gaming compilation ever

I believe getting Halo back to form is as important as anything else Microsoft does with their 1st and 2nd party. 343 had a lot of missteps after Bungie left. Hopefully the changes they made at the top of the studio fix it.

Straight, I'm not sure why people seem so unimpressed with Halo as a whole. To me, its not that the series has stagnated or just sucks. Not at all in fact.

I personally think its because its typically a quality product time and again. Sure, there's been a few missteps but, as a whole Halo has delivered. Its one of the few titles that have stellar SP and MP. People are still rocking out Halo Guardians and its almost two years old. That goes for Gears and Forza. MS still needs to bring more AAA titles however. In this day and age, its unacceptable.

Some won't agree but I don't give a fuk. This is my opinion.

hope they fix co-op in MCC. Could only finish halo CE, h2,3&4 were just drop outs and laggy.

The Xbox update that lets you download 4k updates is available for those of us not in the preview program.

For a dummy who hasn't been paying attention, how does this work? I can download the updates onto my normal X1, what's the method to transfer it to the X when it releases?

You need a portable hard drive. So for example, for me, I don't have any games installed to my HDD on my Xbox One S. They all default to my 4TB external HDD. With this new feature for pre-downloading 4K content (as long as you enable it), that will get installed to my external HDD as well. When I get my Xbox One X, I plug in my external HDD, and all the games run instantly, in 4K. I won't have to do all the 4K downloads AFTER I get my X1X so that I can experience 4K immediately. The only work required would be if you wanted to transfer any of that from your external to internal HDD, which I don't.

Now keep in mind, that is for the games that developers have given MS the 4K content, to give to us ahead of time. There are over 100 games with 4K content coming, and as far as I know, there are only a couple games with 4K content available for us to download right now. I doubt all 100+ games will have their 4K content available to download on November 7th, but I guess anything is possible.

Makes sense, thank you! Which games are available now?

What's weird is the only "Xbox X enhanced" game that shows up in the menu is Gears 4. I have Halo 5 and Forza 7 installed and nothing (although it could have patched at some point behind the scenes?).

I just got a new 5tb external drive and plenty of space.

There is also a new Xbox One network transfer feature available, which allows you to transfer games to any other Xbox One connected to a router in the same LAN.

------------------------------------------

To prep all of this up, go to

1) Go to Settings > System > Updates:

- Make sure you enable the setting for 'Keep my games & apps up to date.

2) Settings > System > Backup & Transfer:

- Enable 'Download 4k game content'

With those two settings it will start downloading 4k updates/title updates whenever they're available.

When your Xbox One X arrives, you could do what Hedon said if you have an external drive and have all of your games transferred to it. If not, then connect both systems to the same router, via ethernet or wifi:

Go to Settings > System > Backup & Transfer > Network transfer:

- Then enable 'Allow network transfer'. With this enabled you can freely copy games from one system to another without an external drive or a physical connection.

-----------------------------------------------
Another thing to note for both Network transfer and using an External HDD for moving games around is that they added another feature to let select multiple files at once and transfer them.

Settings
> System > Storage: then select a drive under 'Manage Storage', first make sure you set your External to 'Install here by default' if it isn't already, next click on your Internal drive and use Transfer. Pretty self explanatory after that, but just select everything you want to move, pick your target device and either move or copy the games over. This process can take a while if you have a s***load of games but it's automated so set and go about your day.
-----------------------------------------------

If you guys are using the external HDD approach, another useful feature they added you're going to want to do is 'Backup my settings'. Which copy's your Xbox profile and some key settings to the external HDD.

Settings > System > Backup & Transfer > Back up my settings:

- Enable 'Keep backup current'
- Click on 'Back up to device'

With all of this enabled, when you get your Xbox One X, it turns into a Plug n Play situation pretty much instead of doing a full set-up initially (which isn't really that long to be honest). It doesn't save all of your device settings, which is a weird oversight (resolution, audio output, IR blaster settings, etc etc).

Well we know they didn't deliver with MCC

They righted the ship with the MP in 5 but the SP is considered by many to be the worst in the series.

I'm surprised we don't have an official list of which games will be available at launch yet, it's only a few weeks away. I want to know which games to buy now!

Speaking of which, I'm having a difficult time deciding between Forza 7 and Horizon 3. I haven't played either yet. Pretty insane considering the two previous Horizon games are two of my favorite racing games ever, Horizon 2 is probably my most played game on X1. I've been holding out for the X to play it. I'm leaning towards Horizon 3 because of it, but know that 7 will probably be better looking. Priorities.

IMO, go with Horizon 3. I loved H1 and H2, but H3 raised the bar.

I feel like my Xbox controller is judging me.

Due to unfortunate recent events (my brother's arsehole children put my Xbox media remote in my dishwasher after they got their disgusting, grubby, rodent-like fingers all over it) and have had to resort using the gamepad to control media, like an animal!

Anyway, the controller shuts off to conserve power after 10 minutes of inactivity or something, so you have to do ALL THAT STUFF to turn the controller back on.

See! Judging me!

This is in no way related to my hatred for my gamepad. I have that fugly CoD Green Camo control, which looks like it's made from the reject paper scraps from the art hour of your local kindergarten.

But that's what I get for buying my Xbox from a 20 year old meth addict, who had to hide the fact he was selling his Xbox from his parents.

And before you ask, yes. I did sleep with him.

A worse game overall but the campaign is still better than 5

I didn't care for either campaign. AI is worse in both games than Bungie's AI. Enemy AI was one of the things that made the sandbox work in single player over other FPSs. Bungie campaigns also didn't rely on bullet sponges to extend battle sequences. Hate the Prometheans. They're boring bullet sponges that lead to unimaginative game design. Hope they get back to basics in Halo 6.

Someone doesn't remember fighting Brutes, lol. Halo 5 Prometheans weren't bullet sponges. They actually made the knights more fun to fight.

Halo 4 was more bullet spongey. Halo 5 was more Wardeny.

Still remember a lot of Prometheans standing around waiting to get shot in Halo 5. Outside of the Warden and a few tricky spots, most of Halo 5 wasn't super hard even on Legendary if you were willing to grind away their health patiently. Oh...and the Prometheans ships were also an unpleasant grind.

Promies are way more fun to fight in 5, soldiers became elite like, flit around like ninja monkeys and actually jack you off (not in a good way) and knights became tanks like hunters. I spose the biggest issue I had was it's harder to distinguish weapon types on a soldier/knight. Often you don't know if they have a scattershot or incendiary cannon or a lightrifle or a binary, some coloured highlights (like the standard, legendary, mythic versions in Warzone) would go a long way in identifying threats.

I'd also like to see way more Forerunner vehicles, UNSC and covenant have loads, but all promies have is phaetons, gimme a completely alien vehicle for 6.

I definitely don't remember the AI surprising me in Halo 4 and 5, for sure. I'm not confident Bungie would have done better with a new faction (certainly not current Bungie). I think the move to 60fps limited the cycles available. Halo 5 was hit and miss just like all the Halo games. I love them all despite that.

Halo 4 had one of the best presentation of it's story. I felt real, genuine connections the the Cheif and Dirt and. 4 had some great levels, too.

Regardless, I really hope they can pull it together for 6.

Man, turn on the "catch" skull for a great gameplay modifier. Keeps you on your toes. Thinking back, I still thought the Covie's AI was decent in 5.
