So i just watched this video and i am like....framedrops and pop ups? Where?!!!! In this video both of that looks rather good...is this PC or actually X1?

Even in this review video it looks fine.....but if i understand comments on forums correctly, it's a trainwreck.......

Based on the button icons, I think it's Xbox One.

...and yeah - performance is fine. The bugs aren't nearly anywhere close to what people are trying to make them out to be.

Assassin's Creed is a massive sandbox and always has been. With a new engine (which is gorgeous), unprecedented NPC's on screen at a time for a console, etc, etc, etc. - it's a great game, and it's expected that there would be some bugs. Do they really impact the game? Not from what I've seen... but I haven't beaten the game yet, so I can't speak conclusively on it.

...but yeah, people are idiots. The game is fine, both on PS4 and X1.

Edit: As the video shows, 15 minutes of gameplay illustrating all the major gameplay elements, and no meaningful slowdown at all.

Internet blows things up. Is this your first day? I think you'll like it here. :tounge:

I like Digital Foundry but I feel like their analysis often is abused by those who really don't know how to consume the material. I say it's like someone who does not know much about wine and instead of using their own taste to form judgement they use Wine Aficionado to form their opinion. If the game is fun is all that matters. That's certainly subjective. However, dismissing the game as a technical failure if not for reading DF seems off.

Absolutely. Critical point you make here.

The DF breakdowns are interesting, and for the people who really wish to know the nitty-gritty, they're fun food for thought, but most of the time the differences are inconsequential and not meaningful in any way during actual gameplay or in normal consumer homes. Many times the differences come down to imperceptable-to-the-naked-eye discrepencies which require specialized hardware to evaluate and properly expose. The information is mostly academic, and not practical.

The completley absurd overreaction towards this game was fueled not by the DF breakdown, but by the intellectually dull hacks who make a proverbial mountain out of a mole-hill... and as blofeld65 mentioned, it's sad. Ubisoft made a fantastic game here. It's utterly gorgeous, and it's doing things (technically) no other game has done this generation (or any generation before it). Ubisoft should be praised for taking a leap of faith with consumers, and pushing new technology, new gameplay, and new horizons - even if it came at the cost of some generally insignificant performance drops or visual bugs.

I'm having more fun with AC:U then with most any other game this generation. It's awesome.

call me bat s*** insane but I seem to remember the last COD game ghost or whatever the f*** it's called ran better on One at launch then they updated the PS4 version and it ended up the best. No idea if this will happen again with the new COD or AC but I damn well now I remember that game being updated on PS4.

Am I remembering wrong?

Yes, you're remembering wrong.

Ghosts never ran worse on PS4, but it was 720p at launch on PS4, and the patch updated the PS4 version to 1080p.

oh ok thanks I don't follow this stuff. I always just hope games ran well on all systems.

Game has framerate issues, distracting pop ins, and the usual physics collision stuff, but I'd rather deal with those issues than lack of textures and lighting effects.

The game has even locked up on me twice, requiring me to hard reset my Xbox One.

However, the thing that REALLY bugs me are the server connection issues that prevent me from using the companion app in conjunction with the game. Server issues above all things bug me the most. I really hope they iron them out quickly.

I do not understand that. Why is the Game FPS limited when the CPU's are not maxed out.

Pretty bizarre. It is still gaining more performance with each CPU, even on the first chart, the SLI'd 980 w/5960x 3.0 Ghz is the max performance there, but the second chart has 4.6Ghz 5960x w/SLI'd 980s and performance is still gaining, while not fully utilizing what is already there. Maybe bad drivers? No clue here, that stuff is beyond my scope.

I know right, weird. You would think at the very least the dual core CPU would be totally under max load but nope. Even the 4 core Intel is barely being used, and this is with a game that is more CPU bound than GPU.

since when is 900p better than 1080p

Since when did resolution determine better performance? Isn't a compilation of textures, fps, resolution, lighting and more what determines better performance?

Not sure if Flynn and Intellivision are just really funny guys (if so props, gents) or perpetuates Chris Rock's quote:

"They still make you?"

Could be one of those little from column A, little from column b scenarios.
Not a PC gamer (Football Manager and CIV don't count) - find this funny.

If you play FM and Civ properly, you don't have the time for other PC gaming anyhow. :)

thats why you dont buy Ubi games on PC

i learned that 3months into being a PC master race

I had been playing for 3 hours with out a hint of slowed frame rate, I honestly thought it had been patched. I just had a small bout. 2 seconds out of 3 hours is nothing though, I can't see this game being called broken.

When did people here starting digging into the game code?

You know what, you're right! :p

A colleague at work told me to get the Jazzpunk bundle last week. I got it, installed, but played 0 minutes. Amongst other games.
