I'm hoping that this is a one time correction now that the PS4 supply has started to recover in the US, because if MS loses out in the US in March with TF coming out, they're in trouble. It does indeed appear that despite what I thought was an impressive forward-looking vision, the Kinect is just too much of a weight around the console's neck. It just doesn't work well enough. They really need to consider a SKU without it. By most measures the launch lineup is more compelling on the XB1, so I can't imagine that it would be anything other than the Kinect dragging it down.

Price is dragging it down yes, so let's just drop Kinect and everything is solved! ... well, no. We are at Month 3 for god's sake. Whatever devs are working with Kinect it hasn't even come out yet, so I wouldn't expect what you are talking about until around Year 2.

Pricing is a huge issue for them along with all of the messaging issues they had early on. We'll see how things go over time but losing in the US and UK isn't something MS will be feel good about, the US was the only market they trounced Sony in last time (UK to a lesser degree) and it took that 14 million sales lead they had here to put them in the position they were last gen.

They haven't really given a compelling reason yet that kinect is worth the $100 extra for the machine either, we'll see how effective they are in correcting that over time I guess.

Went to check on BB.com but the console is sold out there, even their higher priced bundles. It says no store availability. Walmart has 12 stores listed within 50 miles, 8 are sold out and 4 have them in stock so again where is all of this inventory you are talking about? I never said a word about where I live being more important than where you live, what's with your attitude problem? I said places with lower populations meaning that with a lower population you likely have lower demand, not meant as an insult to anyone.

Sorry, wasn't meant as attitude, just that I'm in a big market area with high demand and the PS4 is everywhere you turn. If it wasn't typed, you'd get the meaning as implied.

It's funny seeing people saying it's not a fair point to say "wait until this game" comes out and see what happens when Microsoft is the one with all the heavy hitter franchises. Sony historically doesn't have any big console selling franchises besides Gran Turismo and we all know how that's turned out over the past couple releases. Uncharted is solid, but it's still not pushing consoles anywhere near the rate that Microsoft's flagship franchises are.

Face the facts people. Microsoft is still in a better position moving forward. They've got Titanfall coming next month. Halo 5 later this year. They locked up Gears of War. Forza keeps selling. Now they've got so many new and great IPs like Quantum Break mixed with old IPs that they're bringing back like Killer Instinct. They have the games. Now it's a wait and see approach. Sony needs to find a console seller soon. Hype won't sell the PS4 forever.

Jin, trust... I'm not saying your bulls***ting. I believe certain markets are out or being held out. I just don't believe the bs about it being hard to get...

I'm sorry Microsoft, but the Kinect experiment has failed. I guarantee 90% rarely use it, if at all. It's nice to have, but outside voice commands, it's just a big hulking unused piece of very expensive unproven technology.

Considering that it's convenient to turn on and navigate with the Xbox One via Kinect, I HIGHLY doubt that is true. Not even close. Pretty sure there are users that don't use it but 90% of them? No way.

Anyway, the major drop in sales for new consoles in just one month is pretty amazing. I know January is usually slow but man. 2 million in December down to about 0.5 million in January right?

I expected a 150k gap between the two so I was right there. Just didn't think there would be a drop this big.

Pretty sure that the Xbox One will get a price drop this year; or at least a new SKU at $400. Don't think they will drop kinect. It's going to be interesting to see how the system will do in March. March is going to be interesting since both systems will have great looking games not coming out on their competitor. I think the multiplayer focus in XB1 games will help it more since addictive multiplayer games get better word of mouth. The PS4 single player games may not since many will stop palying them after they are done. We'll see though.

This year's E3 is going to be a great one though especially with the recent news. Both Sony and MS are going to go cut throat.

Not a fan of Sony but good for them. Interesting that companies continue to follow the trend of thinking they know what's best for consumers after their second successful console. At this point I think it would do MS some good to have to take an ass beating. I'll still get the X1 but I think this proves competition is a good thing.

Oh I don't take it that way don't worry but even what you've shown there one says limited stock and the other says in stock, what did all of the others say?

Yeah well when this:
http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/ps4/

Equals this:
http://www.nowinstock.net/videogaming/consoles/xboxone/

...then I think it will be fair to say that the supply will then be equal. But it still is not. PS4 supply has gotten better but the only place that has a non-bundle PS4 in stock is Amazon. There isn't a single online site that DOESN'T have the Xbox One in stock. Unless Sony is only sending the PS4 to brick and mortar stores. Is that what you and Ceger are claiming?

Look, you're grasping at straws, I'm generalizing. So let me put it into basics that even MW would understand. Online, there is an extreme amount of evidence that says yes and no concerning stock. Your site says I shouldn't be able to pull from BB or Walmart, yet I can. I'm not saying it's easy to get online, but when I see someone say it's out of stock and I turn to my left and see it raining both consoles. I get a laugh.

Oh I don't take it that way don't worry but even what you've shown there one says limited stock and the other says in stock, what did all of the others say?
3 Limited, 11 in stock. Oakland, Richmond, Hayward.

As a black and Filipino man, I have about 40 jokes as to why those are sold out or limited.
But I'll save that for another conversation rofl.

I said, "other than voice commands". Voice commands can still be part of the system by just placing a microphone on the system or controller, and it'd be A LOT less expensive.

I'm just saying, in terms of actual motion controls, I don't know a whole lot of Xbox users that use them. I even turned them off in Dead Rising.

Kinect doesn't make it cost hundred dollars extra. There are other things that add to the price such as the Wi-Fi that the controllers use extra HDMI port etc. But if you want to validation on why Kinect is "worth" the extra hundred dollars more, to those of yes that use it to navigate the system, it would be hard to ever go back to a voiceless OS. The benefits of turning on every single piece of AV with just saying "Xbox On," is beyond awesome. The list is pretty much endless.

stuff price drop. sell it at $299 +$30/month inc gold for 24months contract.

I mean, I don't want to look like fanboy, but I know, right? 2-to-1 isn't impressive, but so isn't PS4 selling less than 300k in its 'clear lead'. Even if all these stock rumors are true, then the recently delivered backorders count to just 150k gap? Feels like some just want to ignore on that. I wonder how well the consoles would sell in February and March.

Part of the reason why the Xbox One controller's battery life is so long is due to kinect so I'm pretty sure that many are using that kinect feature too (even if they don't know about it).

Visual sign-on is also part of my point about convenience using the system and that uses the camera (not the microphone).

So yeah, people are using more than just the microphone with kinect.

How am I grasping at straws. Are you claiming the stock is equal? It's clearly not. Unless you don't count buying things online?

Which makes me think most of the people that bitch about it, haven't really used it nor have it in the family environment.

Concerning supply strain or it being sold out. Sure, you can't do insta-buy on your smart phone at 95% of stores. But you can sure walk in and buy one.

I expect this month's record to be a little lower than that, like Anderson's first guess at 30k.

Just to correct the record, I didn't guess 30K. That must've been someone else.

Got to love how Kinect, something that brings innovation and convenience to the table is seen as a bad thing amongst gamers. Let's just go back to the Stone Age. What's the point in improving technology any further?

Also love how my posts have been ignored. Probably because my points completely invalidate the "Xbox One is doomed" farce.

According to the tear downs Kinect is costing Microsoft about $75.

The point is if you are not paying $100 more for Kinect, what are you paying $100 more for? I mean the hardware specs on the Xbox One are worse than on the PS4. The memory is cheaper. The GPU is slower.

no your being ignored cause your dumb f***ing xbox fan boy gimmick is old and everyone is sick of your s*** and don't your worth replaying too.

Xbone needs a price cut. It is astounding how much this generation MS has become Sony of last generation.

I tell you the hurt among some fan boys in this thread sure is strong. The PS4 is more powerful and so far seems like it will out sell the One by a good bit them is the hard facts.

That third console curse coming full circle for Microsoft.
It has just been a plethora of bad news lately for them...alot of it deserved.

Hopefully this kicks them in the head and they start doing things right again.

Because there are other features that I mentioned that are not found inside the PS4 such as the extra HDMI port, wifi direct, etc., in addition to MS making money on each console sold where as Sony is losing money on each console if most reports are to be believed. MS said they won't lose money on this generation's console sold. MS could take a loss on each console but there's no reason to.

Microsoft needs to drop the price at least 50$. That could painter a much brighter picture. Although I have no doubts I'll still love my XBO end of Feb, something is going to have to change in order for them to be competitive. I really hate to see them beaten this way but gat dayum!
