I’d also like to confirm that the PS Plus Edition of the game will be available on the same day as the full release. Offering a selection of cars and tracks from the complete version, we think it’s the perfect way for those new to the genre to get an idea of what the full DRIVECLUB experience is all about. Look out for more details on the PS Plus Edition very soon.

Thanks again to everybody for your continued support; it really is a huge source of inspiration for the team. We appreciate that there’s a lot of anticipation and excitement for everything that DRIVECLUB promises to be, so we hope that you understand why we won’t compromise on quality to rush it to you.

It’s been a long and hard winter but it’s great that we can finally start sharing updates with you again about all of the cool things that DRIVECLUB does. We don’t anticipate another quiet period for a while so you can expect to see plenty more from us in the coming weeks leading up to E3 2014!

More soon™,

The DRIVECLUB team.

No racing title has ever combined the development of a socially charged, multi-platform dynamic menu with all the other connected online elements that DRIVECLUB delivers. We know that what we are creating here is hugely ambitious and we’re proud of the fact that we’re getting close now because we’re a relatively small studio. The progress we’re making is great, so I’m looking forward to showing you more as development continues and prove that all the hard work has been worth it.

While that work goes on, the rest of the team here is relentless when it comes to exploiting the power and confidence of the PS4, so we’re also raising the bar even higher across other aspects of the game including:

Visuals – We’re constantly improving how stunning the game looks as we continue to optimise visuals and find new ways of pushing the PS4. You can see for yourself how it looks right now in the latest video we shared yesterday because all the footage was captured on PS4 from the game. It’ll look even better in October.
Audio – It’s absolutely state of the art. We’re continuing to refine the authentic sounds that we have for each and every car in the game and we’re going to put together videos that focus on this.
Driving – It already feels great to play and we’re continuing to add further layers to the physics to make it both more accessible for everybody and more sophisticated for experienced racers.
Clubs – We’re making it easier for you to keep up to speed with what’s going on in your club as part of the rework on the dynamic menus. We’ve also tweaked clubs to support up to 6 players instead of 12 (because the game is more fun with tightly-knit clubs and it paves the way for awesome 6 on 6 club races).
Tour – The difficulty curve for the campaign mode is becoming even smoother as we continue to optimise the vehicle handling and also refine the game’s AI for non-player racers.
Cars & Tracks – More time means more staggeringly detailed cars and exciting tracks too. If you haven’t already, check out the Ferrari in the video released yesterday. There are loads more exciting cars for us to reveal in the coming months.

I will say when I rented Need for Speed I enjoyed it and I think it is 30 fps. I never felt like I was playing a 30 fps racer and it still had a nice sense of speed but I would still prefer 60 fps.

How about you guys actually wait to see how the physics model feels and how it feels to drive bofore you just say "oh, it isnt 60! won't buy it" this is by far the most silly posts in the entire thread. I mean, it's a videogame, it ruins the game for you completely because of the frame rate. What if the game is really really damn fun to drive? I mean, if you want to miss out just for that one small thing then be my guest. I'll be enjoying the game while you ignore it for that reason.

I hope most of you ignored the PS1/Saturn gen, must have been a 5 year wait to get back into videogames with all those frame issues, fog and pop in. Lord for bid a game today runs as a solid 30 with none of those huge/major problems of ps1 generation.

I remember enjoying drive 1 on ps1 and it felt pretty good at the 5 fps it was running.

I am getting the game, even at 30fps. Just would have been cool had it been 60fps. It's all good either way.
But you hate Motorstorm so you still need to be punished. :)

If I can have a very solid IQ with 60fps then I'd take that. The PS2 HD PS3 ports look and feel very good to me. Especially when the textures/IQ is easy to see without too many effects in the way.

"Paul Rustchynsky, Game Director at Evolution Studios have revealed that DriveClub will run at a ‘locked’ 30 frames per second. Last month’s inFamous Second Son runs at an unlocked 30-60fps but later on Sucker Punch released a patch that allowed players to keep the game locked at 30fps. However, Paul believes that they decided to lock it at 30fps due to consistency issues.

“The most important thing for a racing game is a locked frame-rate – whether it’s 30fps or 60fps. It’s vital that every controller input you make is consistent and also equal for all drivers. We chose a locked frame-rate for this very reason and with 30fps we don’t have to hold back any of the obsessive visual detail in our game,” he said in the comments section of PS Blog.

In another comment, he also confirmed that the game won’t have a dynamic day/night cycle which changes according to the real time on your PlayStation 4. “We tested this because on paper it sounds really cool, but when you actually play at the real time of day for a while you lose a lot of the magic and diversity. We allow you to customise the start time and the time compression (time lapse) in every race you set up, so you have lots of flexibility yourself,” he revealed.

He also detailed the FAME system which is used to level up in the game. “In DRIVECLUB every action you perform, whether that’s drifting in style, reaching insane top speeds or drafting an opponent to set up an overtake, you earn FAME. When you earn enough fame you level up and when you do you unlock new cars to race with! The same goes for you club. When your club reaches specific levels you’ll earn new cars, which everyone in the club gets immediate access to. It’s a simple and focussed approach that allows everyone to help each other to earn more and play more,” he stated.

Finally he also stated that they are looking in to releasing the soundtrack of the game. “We are looking into the options for this, because we love the soundtrack too,” he said.

DriveClub is due this October for the PlayStation 4."

Think we need to get back on topic....way too much vs s*** up in here.

I'm fine with locked 30fps. Doesn't make much difference to me.

I don't know why anyone ever wants that in a game, I've read requests for that on forums before and it makes no sense. If you are someone who only gets to play after the sun goes down than your game will always take place at night, who wants that? it's much better to give people the option than to set it according to the clock on the console.

Very true, as long as it's a locked 30 fps with no dipping below that's fine.

not sure if its been posted but 5 tracks 10 cars. for the free version.
if they doubled that i think it would have been perfect. whatever cant be to picky for free s***.

oh and that ban tag lol.

Hm, I expected them to hit 60, with all the delays. Oh well, free game, and I don't play racing games anyhow. Even at 60 fps I still run into walls.

I believe I read somewhere that even with the PS+ edition, you have enough content to get platinum. Not sure how true that is though.

Anderson, I apologize for helping in the creation of the new thread you had to make.

I don't know if I want to try the PS+ version or buy the game outright. I was really disappointed with need for speed. So I really have high hopes for this. Evo studios has yet to fail me.

Oh no problem, it was inevitable. It was something like 40 posts.

I'm Andy now, btw. I'm trying to increase my internet anonymity. Now that I'm a moderator, I'm making more enemies. Go figure.

Perfect release date too. I'm sure Destiny will be played out by Oct.
It's going to have competition from Destiny the month before, Arkham Knight, Dragon Age, The Order and CoD around that time and possibly AC: Unity and The Division. It's a tough window.

Off topic,

I can't see The Division shipping until winter 2015 at the earliest. What we saw at E3 was all that existed, it was a 'vertical slice', they said the team had been working on the Division for only 3 months before the E3 reveal. I'd love to be wrong, really wrong, The Division was the most interesting thing shown at E3 imo, but I fail to see how a game with the vision and scope of what they aim to achieve could be created in a year and a half from scratch. I predict Q3-Q4 2015 fiscal year.

I have a feeling holiday 2015 also but I hope we're both wrong.

There's a rumour going around that Arkham knight is now a 2015 title. Not sure how credible it is though.

I recently read that it’s not delayed which is great news for me because I’m really looking forward to it. As for Drive Club I’ll certainly check out the PSN+ edition and go from there.

I would have liked to have DriveClub in my PS4 this Summer but oh well. As long as it comes out this year.
