B.

Good conference, but nothing which was great.

When you consider the announcements MS had prior to conference ($399 sku without Kinect, no more Gold for apps, etc.), and you consider the choice gaming that wasn't included in MS's conference that we already knew about (Quantum Break, etc.) - I think MS comfortably wins this year.

Both did great. Neither had a poor showing at all... and neither had a "megaton" that was a real game changer.

Honestly, slightly disappointed in both... but only because I hoped for that one thing no one expected.

No doubt. What was your favorite part? Mine was all the TV talk and the Ratchet & Clank movie. That's definitely going to blow the Halo series out of the water.
Numbers man. All about the numbers. I guess I should give it a solid A since they left out a Wonderbook sequel.

B. Solid Conference. Announced a few cool games and services. But as with MS, I didn't get a few games I was expecting and the indie push by both isn't doing any thing for me.

any conference that actually puts your to sleep while watching it is not good.

I'm surprised at the people who can't make a distinction between MS's TV talk at their console reveal and the TV talk in this press conference. Huge difference.

B+. They would've gotten an A, except there wasn't any news about Knack 2.

No, I'm kidding, they get points off for the dull part.

That Xbox reveal was 90% tv, apps, and movies, 5% call of duty, 5% EA sports.

This conference had like 25 out of 110 minutes on their tv, movie, and app services, the rest nearly wall to wall games.

Even though the Playstation Now talk was kinda boring, it's still about video games so it doesn't fall into that category.

It really is astounding.

All honesty though, both conferences were great. I prefer MS's approach (anything that's not games, speak to it at a different time... E3 isn't about TV, movies, etc... it's about Games), and I prefer MS's greater focus on high-grade exclusives (launched with more high grade exclusives, and more high grade exclusives this holiday)... but no doubt Sony's showing was great. The Order looks good, the Bloodborn looks great, etc.

Lots, and lots of quality games on both systems this holiday. Sony's will have the edge on cross plat games for extreme pixel counters, I think MS's high grade exclusives clearly edge out Sony's... but players on either side will have lots of great content to play.

I don't know any other high grade exclusives coming out this year except FH2, sunset overdrive and halo collection. Would you enlighten me?

Bloodborne alone beats everything MS showed combined. There's nothing like it on any other platform.

Dispute it all you want, shrug it off with a "not my kind of game" but the fact remains that no other platform will have something as unique as Bloodborne.

That's better than Drive club and TLOU remastered.

I don't know, I think Quantum is plenty unique.

I think you've WAY over-indexed on the importance and interest of that game. It looks great, but it's not some megaton "beat all else" trump card. It's a great looking game.

I gave it an A!

Even though I missed some stuff I think it was better than Microsofts'.
For Microsoft a B+.

They both brought the games I wanted to see just that Sony brought a little more of them.

Gave it the same as the MS presser. A C. Lots of games again(which is great) but not enough interesting stuff exclusive to the hardware that interests me.

lol, So basically, there is nothing else, got it. I'd say they are pretty much a toss up. Both have just as high grade exclusives, just not a lot of them coming out this year.

Funny, a few people here and many others on twitch, gametrailers and other assorted game related forums I go to have been saying the same thing I am, Bloodborne sold me a PS4.

I've yet to see the same for anything MS announced, even on this forum which is notoriously skewed toward MS.

I think you're underestimating by a large margin. Dark Souls 2, which is an "old" game by console standards and not exactly new by PC standards still manages to hit the top 20 games viewed on twitch more nights than not. Coming off the success of those games I think Bloodborne is going to do real well for itself, especially if it follows the Souls formula of difficult but rewarding gameplay coupled with a deep PvP and co-op online system.

I can make the distinction. Microsoft's TV talk actually made more sense since it's TV that we all have. No one cares about a TV service though. Or maybe that's just me.

Both are pursuing original shows though which could be cool or not.

I gave it a B-. I liked Microsoft's show a little more. Although I may be a little more critical of Sony since they have more studios, they should have more to show at this stage. But they didn't.

I was also disappointed at the fact that nothing was shown for Morpheus. I guess it's just way too early.
I'm sure there will be plenty of media from the show floor on the Morpheus demos.

What could you really do for Morpheus on stage though? that's the kind of thing you have to experience, just watching someone with a helmet on doesn't really do anything.

Good point. The Fallon footage was kind of just a big screen without any real sense of depth.

Either way, I'm anxious to see some media from the floor.

rated it a B, same as MS show. I do give the edge to MS though if only slightly. Only because Phantom Dust 2 is amazing. I think Sony really needs a good addicting online exclusive. I also can't get that excited for Uncharted as I've never had a ps3 so I missed out on all of those games. The hype for the Halo remake is a bit silly imo too. I love Halo but I really don't give a damn about playing old ass games with old ass graphics. I'd be so much more excited if they were all getting an upgrade graphically. Halo 1 is one of my favorite games of all time, but I still don't want to play games that look like the original xbox, graphically. I didn't pay 499 to do that and I also think it's hilarious they still didn't have anything worthwhile for Kinect at this E3.

If It wasn't for Phantom Dust 2 I'd be extremely salty and I think Microsoft is beyond stupid for their decisions with hardware. Just like I think Sony is poop for slacking on exclusives for 2014. I honestly don't have anything to look forward to on my ps4 for the rest of this year besides Infamous 2nd light. At least the Xb1 will have Sunset even though I think that game doesn't look as thrilling as people make it out to be.

So sick of the stupid zombie zerg bs. I'd like smart enemies and a bit more difficulty.

Got a bit OT. W/e

I gave it a D for two reasons. The biggest was that over all I was bored. I don't like the way they present and their snide comments towards the competition continues to annoy me.
The biggest reason though is I left the conference realizing that I will only be purchasing one more ps4 game in 2014! I already own last of us and I don't feel like double dipping.
I do realize that some Indies were shown but none really were must own for me. I left wanting to see at least some gameplay of Ratchet and uncharted!
If they released a new Ratchet and Clank, Sly, or anything besides just Little big planet that I would be interested in this year I would have been delighted.

after rewatching it properly the conference was actually really good. B+ would have gotten an A if not for 30 minutes of boredom.

I gave it a C overall, what saved it from being a nightmare was GTA V, The Order 1886 and UC4.

I gave it a C. Little Big Planet 3 and No Man's Sky prevented disaster.

I'd say a B for the games and a D for the way the conference was presented. Games looked great but turned into a snoozefest with all the tv talk

Gave it a C it was such a borefest. Don't care much for Indie games, Bloodborne is not my cup of tea and Uncharted was the only redeeming quality about the presser though there was no gameplay.

A problem with the Sony show is that many of the presentations segments had unprepared speakers, or the segment or speech they gave dragged on too long. LBP3 was probably double what it should have been. Shu's segment was pointless. That Powers TV series had a suit talking about it too long and boring etc.... Project Morpheus is on screen (ahhhh... some good stuff), they talk about it for 30 seconds, show nothing, and then it's off to the next segment??? The show had various quick snippet segments which looked like they jammed it in there for sake of it without any meaningful content.

Lots of filler. And for all the crap MS got last year for talking TV, totally opposite this year. MS did none, and Sony did it all. Just as I said on the TXB days. BOTH companies are trying for the same thing. It's just that MS got the flak because they did it first and Sony kept their mouth shut and let the internet explode..... until they finally had to expand on TV/media stuff because they need to promote it sooner or later. Things aren't so different behind the scenes.

They could have snipped away half an hour from the show if they wanted to if they focused on games and didn't drag on segments. Even the Destiny stuff was a bit too long.
