Batman: Arkham Knight (PC/PS4/XB1 and Now... Switch))

i found couple of them just roaming the city. they are easy to spot since there is bunch of enemies around them

So I planned to keep posting updated impressions, but I honestly didn't count on how freaking addicting this game ended up being! I had to tear myself away from the game to go to bed, but wanted to post some thoughts for those still on the fence.

1. As I said, this game is crack. The missions are laid out so well, they all feel unique and important to the story, you never ever have to worry about getting lost or confused, and the upgrade system is perfectly implemented. That leads to the gameplay just flowing so well from one mission to the next, that there never feels like a good stopping point. It's great, and I can imagine a lot of people will be wanting to 100% this game, though I have yet to find out how annoying the riddler challenges are in this game. I've been ignoring them so far.

2. What I posted before about it feeling too familiar, forget I said it. Once you get some upgrades, which happens very early, it plays pretty much how you would expect after watching the videos. The grappling and gliding is much smoother, the combat is very fast paced, you feel like a total badass, and the fear takedowns change the way you approach predator sections. I honestly think that strong/too strong feeling of been there done that in the beginning is intentional to help you appreciate the upgrades.

3. The graphics are very good, and the story is great. I'm not blown away by the graphics so far, but they are definitely impressive and not at all a disappointment. The story is fantastic. Won't talk about it at all, but so far I'm hooked.

4. Lastly, the batmobile. I'll just say I'm surprised and disappointed. I'm surprised that the tank battles aren't as annoying as I expected them to be. It's pretty fun so far. That may be due to me constantly trying out new upgrades, but I'm loving the tank battles. I'm a little disappointed that it's so unwieldy though. It's great when you are tearing through the streets chasing an armored vehicle and causing all sorts of destruction, but there are times when you need precise control and it can be frustrating. Not anything close game ruining, but I've certainly gotten annoyed at times.

Overall, great game so far. It's one of those sequels to me that has enough improvements in the gameplay to make the previous games unplayable, if that makes sense. I'd just miss all the upgrades too much.If I hit a wall with the gameplay or the story takes a dive, I will pass that along, but so far I can easily recommend a purchase to Batman fans.
Razzel. I had the same problems with the Batmobile at first too, but if you change the settings to "toggle" it performs much better! After that, I was driving all aces.

Wow, that makes a world of difference. How are these not the default controls??

Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, it's annoyingly hard to find. In game options, you set battle mode toggle to on.

Haven't tried it yet, but figured I'd ask in anticipation so I wouldn't spend a lot of time looking for it.

Another question....where is the save game option? I couldn't find it last night...needed to go to bed and quit the game and was told I was losing the last nine minutes since my last save.

Same issue here, but no manual save that I could find. I don't think any of the arkham games have had a manual save feature. I always just end after a mission or just pause and resume the next time I start up my Xbox.

They should at least initiate some sort of auto save that happens more than it does....9 minutes? I was doing a lot of exploring at that point so I might just not have done anything worth saving.

Batman: Arkham Knight on PS4 is a technical tour de force
Rocksteady's superb work doesn't deserve to be overshadowed by the poor PC version.

"What we're given on PS4 may be capped at 30fps with an adaptive v-sync, but in the visual sense we're getting results beyond what was possible in the maxed-out PC version of Arkham City (barring its anti-aliasing options). Compared to the last game on Xbox 360 and PS3, where tearing and frame-rate drops were a more regular issue, Arkham Knight's performance hiccups are relatively confined on PS4. Fast driving sections turn in the worst numbers overall, but the rest is very smooth overall."

"After years in development, the controversy surrounding the terrible PC game obviously takes the shine away from what should have been a triumphant launch for Rocksteady's long-awaited trilogy closer. On PS4 at least - the only version we've tested in-depth so far"

We pick up the PS4 version today I will take a peek at my son playing it or see if I can get him away from it and play it on the 65 incher and report my findings.

Holy hell! I have decided to stop playing the game until they fix this. I can't believe it looks that good with NO ambient occlusion or water textures. I want the full experience. I feel cheated out of my money! Damn Iron Galaxy!

All of this rattles along at a fair clip in performance, of course. The current controversy over the shockingly poor launch of the PC version is a terrible disappointment bearing in mind how solid the PS4 version is. Previous Rocksteady-helmed ports were worthy, accomplished pieces of work, but the outsourced Arkham Knight looks terrible to the point where reports suggest that even Titan X-equipped PCs cannot sustain 1080p60. We've only just received code, but what's immediately obvious is that even a Core i7 with a GTX 780 Ti can't sustain 60fps, even on the lowest settings.
After a year and a half, I think Val has finally found what he's looking for. Scoring a notch for PS4 over PC.

its horrible, one section of the game on my GTX780 was getting 15-25fps! and on PS4 its smooth

pathetic PC release

A classic case of one platform getting burned by having Dev Team B- work on it in secrecy. And where:

Dev Team A = the main team
Dev Team B+ = a third party dev contracted to do it
Dev Team B- = a third party dev contracted to do it, but with extra gimped resources

Batman PC got Dev Team B-

You really have to be good at you job to take software that runs great on PS4/X1 hardware somehow manage to slow down on PC hardware that is twice as powerful.

The Xbox One version looks better than my PC at the moment. Resolution aside, Ambient Occlusion makes a massive difference.

Really hard to take a break from playing the game, are now 61 % done (gotten much further in main story mission, last I checked was around 80 %).
Some more screenshots, these are taken from way earlier in the game:

Yeah, don't think I'm going to try and 100% the game till my second playthrough. I'm too invested in the story and what is going to happen next.

Man this game takes the cake on console visuals, everything is just so slick. It has an awesome combo of effects, draw distance, scale and lighting going on. I'm sure the PC version will destroy it, but the ps4 version is really impressive. I might be a bit easy to please atm, granted I have been playing witcher 3 on ps4.

soooo... the PC version is f***ed, they literally just updated it's Steam page so you can no longer purchase the game..

I recommend turning Battle Mode Toggle on in the Game Options menu.

That way you can use left and right triggers for driving plus braking like any other car game, and you don't have to get carpal tunnel holding down left trigger all day for Battle mode.

It'll work eventually but how could they possibly not have known of these problems?
