Project Scorpio v2.0

MS can more than afford to sell a $700 machine for $499/549 and if they do this they will regain much respect from me.
They already got your respect and $$$. You already have Gears 4. Companies make profits on software, not so much on hardware.

Anything MS can do to convert gamers to buy PC software is what they are trying to do, and you've already fell for it.

Consoles are for people who don't want to play on PCs. So what MS is doing is having software on PC to make money off them from that side. So if they can't get it from the console side, getting revenue from the PC side is just as good.

Also, your support of PC gaming automatically qualifies you as supporting MS, since PC gaming is based on Windows. So even if you never buy an Xbox console ever again (although you admitted already buying two Xbox Ones... lol), you are supporting MS with PC gaming and Windows software, which is in fact more profits in their coffers.

MS has only officially announced Scorpio having 320 gb gandwidth, 8 cores, 4k, 6tf. But lots of rumours swirling around.

I said this probably months ago,m but I stick to my 6-7 tf performance. Any rumour saying it could up to 10 tf seems like a stretch.

- UHD drive
- 6-7 tf
- I'll go with the flow and say 12gb ram
- 8 cpu cores. Some kind of custom cpu in between Jag and Zen
- Some kind of customized Vega gpu
- 10% chance $400-450. 80% chance $450-550. 10% chance more $550+
- 30% chance they will release a barebones model where you supply your own BC controllers. If there is one, the price of this system will be $50 cheaper than a one controller box

There is one thing we should all know there is no way they are going to use that Jaguar CPU junk on their Scorpio because if that was the case they could have released it last year with the ps4 pro.

I say its Ryzen and Vega custom chip.

Curious as to what the design will be. Anyone think it will be similar in design as the S? Or big like the One.

Xbox OG = Black/Big
Xbox 360 = White/Smaller
Xbox One = Black/Big
Xbox Scorpio = White/Smaller

But if someone considers Xbox One S's mid gen refresh is significant enough to be it's own line (beefed up specs and a media drive upgrade), it is White/Smaller.

Which means Xbox Scorpio will be a Big and Black! lol

Im hoping for a pearl white, purely because of my homes Decor.

Do you know how hard it is to buy a decent white tv?!

Exactly.

PS4 has had their share of lousy games, yet he never bags on them. Among his favourite games on X1 is KI too. He played it to death and that game only got a 73 on meta. He promotes games with high meta scores yet spend lots of his time playing games with meta scores in the 70s. lol

it's too bad he deleted all his SF5 Twitter videos. He had a bunch of them where he'd complain he couldn't get in a match due to lousy servers. Then he deleted them all the second I posted a link to his Twitch account.
Why are we talking about PS4 in this thread?
Cause I can easily defuse this post of yours but than I would be derailing as well.

I'd be shocked if they break even or sell Scorpio at a profit. I think they tried that with the OG Xbox One and lost the third party advantage.

I think they need that hardware advantage because they can't pump out games like Sony can.

They'll already have a hardware advantage based on what they've announced, a stronger GPU and a pic that makes it look like they'll have 12GB of memory. I think the biggest problem with the X1 was the unnecessary and frankly stupid decision to include Kinect which drove the launch price up and it probably also caused them to make cuts in other areas of the hardware because of it. They had awful messaging and an outdated idea of trying to take over the living room, they bungled just about every way possible and they've paid the price when it comes to market share because of it, well that and Sony making a lot of the right choices.

This new hardware is already going to be pretty expensive to make, the extra memory which is also faster than what's in the xbox one or either of Sony's consoles has to be pretty expensive and I'm sure the GPU isn't cheap either, that with what will have to be a 1TB HDD is going to drive up costs quite a bit, there will have to be something that gives and that logically (IMO) is going to be the CPU as that will have the least impact on visuals when compared to the other improved areas. The CPU will be better than what's in the X1 and I'm guessing a year more advanced than the PS4 Pro CPU but I doubt it'll be some budget busting high end component based on not only cost but heating and power consumption. Plus with the other advantages and the fact that it's still going to be running what is essentially just prettier versions of X1 games I don't think they need a really strong CPU. If this were a new generation of hardware starting and the console was going to have it's own games than putting in the best CPU a console could handle would make sense but not just for making X1 games better looking.

I would love to be surprised and have it be a beast all around but the way these companies have switched their business philosophies and the fact that consoles have limitations that PC's don't makes me think it'll probably be a more modest CPU than people are trying to claim, and that's just fine considering what this console is supposed to be doing IMO.

They need to keep this thing as close to $400 as possible, they already tried the $500 thing and it ended up hurting them. I think being the strongest console at the right price is more important than putting out something that's more powerful than it really needs to be just for the sake of saying it and then having to charge way too much for it.

I'll say < 1% chance for a console without a controller. Most likely that will never happen.

Yeah there's always a balance between price and tech. But I just don't see Microsoft making the same mistake that they already made once, and that Sony has made twice by going with a CPU that's a bottleneck.

Gonna agree here. MS isnt looking to repeat any mistake that theyve made in the past. No with hardware, not with price. They took a shellacking before. Scorpio has to be right. Any holes in the armor this time and it'll be a while before they recover. That's why Im confident Scorpio will hit all the right notes with gamers.

Yep the first wave of consumers who'll consider Scorpio aren't dumbasses. They're usually well informed and do homework on tech before committing. Their friends who they eventually coax into buying the same system will be less informed on specs. Reason Xbox One got pounded by Sony early was because these informed enthusiast gamers didn't want to spend $100 on Kinect and didn't want to spend $100 more for the less powerful console. If Xbox One wasn't compared to PS4 at launch and had more powerful hardware for $500, it would've sold at least 50% more than it did.

With enthusiasts it's more about perceived value than actual expense.

Well that's part of it with another part being the fact that all the games have to be able to run on the much weaker XBO as well.
If they made exclusives without XBO in mind...than they could look significantly better(kinda like PS4 vs XBO now ie 1080p vs 900p) than games on the Pro.

Yeah, just like all the Master Race folks are being held down by the games also having to support minimum requirements folks, so they can't play in 4K.:smash:

I bet it's big. Or at least bigger than the S. Gotta have room for dat powa!

No, it'll be smaller, but it'll have two power cables - one that you plug into the wall, and the other you plug into the cloud. Cloud adapter is of course $899. Phil Spencer takes off his mask and reveals himself to be the Safer Sephiroth version of Don Mattrick, with a little Peter Molyneux devil on his shoulder promising him the world, but never mentioning which world.

I haven't heard that rumor before. Source? Or did you just started that rumor?

Another valid rumor states it will be extremely small, the jenitor in the building is the source behind that rumor.

I started it. Tried to be funny. It's Monday so I failed.

What the hell is a jenitor?

Yeah I dont quite get what he is saying there. Since the tools will be in place porting down from the Scorpio to the Xbox One should be simple while still retaining the graphical gulf between the 2 platforms.

Infact the recently announced 'Game Mode' for the Windows 10 OS will in effect make it easier than before to port down from the PC as well. Obviously the power hierarchy will scale down as PC,Scorpio, then Xbox One. This would ensure that the PC and Scorpio versions of exclusives are the absolute best performing and looking versions.
