It's like a stripped down version of Arkham's combat. Onc i got the hang of it i started to like it but i can see how some wouldn't care much for it. It's not a perfect game by any stretch but not the piece of s*** i was led to believe it was.

Honest question....if it was ugly, would it still be good?

Yes,If you like the genre. I like a game where I can play and relax and just enjoy the story. The combat is fine, its the executions that are way easy. Also while you can spam the buttons you don't have to. You can try to mix things up. It reminds a lot of heavenly Sword. Fun and beautiful, but some parts are just not fully fleshed out.

Yeah, there needs to be a penalty for the executions... or a drastic reduction in how often they occur.

Anyways, multiplayer has actually been very fun. Takes a long time to level up in multiplayer and get more perks. Some of the enemies are f***ing hard, especially the guys with double swords and the guys with torches. Liking all the maps so far too. The combat is definitely a little deeper than they give it credit for.

The fat guys with the shields were giving me a bit of trouble when i first started playing. Mostly when there is more than one and in the heat of combat i forget that there is a roll button.

I was wavering on this after seeing reviews but glad i got it. High quality game though limited in scope. Hoping for a sequel!

This game is excellent so far. I really am enjoying the combat.

I had to stand at the waterfall in the woods and just imagine an Elder Scrolls game looking like this. The graphics are out of this world!

The cutscenes get better and better, too. I'm still really enjoying the combat and am beginning to string together some pretty impressive, uninterrupted combo strings followed by executions. For some reason, I always forget about the shield slam that slo mos everyone, you can really get some good strings going by strategically using that.

I usually alternate between the health reward and XP, with the XP being my go to one.

Beginning of chapter 5 and already thinking about another play through. Really glad that I bought it.

A demo would really be the best thing for this game. So then people can decide whether the combat style is to their liking or not. For me it got pretty fun once i go the gist of it and i am loving the execution moves , so brutal. I also love how they interact with where ever they happen to be while the execution happens. If we are fighting near some spikes, Marius will impale the guy on them, near a wall and he gets slammed into it and stabbed up, near a cliff, he throws or kicks the f***er off "this is Sparta" style.

I am enjoying the game. I guess because I am playing a bit and taking breaks instead of playing for long stretched is the reason it isn't getting repetitive for me.

This is definitely the best looking launch game from either company.

Come one gentleman and ladies. I need more impressions about RYSE!! Lets have it!!
When are you going to be getting an X1 man? I think I'm most eager to hear your impressions of this game when you finally get your hands on it.

I recommend playing this game on the harder difficulty if you can, I got more out of it this way. I just beat the game about 20min ago. I'd give it a strong 7, but a lot of this is because I played the game like a reviewer would and powered through it without stopping much. Should have took more breaks and probably gave it a higher score.

This game is Crytek's first non-FPS which is out of their comfort zone. It's not so bad either. The game is f***ing gorgeous. I expect a sequel to be much better. They still haven't denied the rumor that Ryse 2: Knights of England is a W.I.P. The only response was "No comment".

Wow, I am even more excited for this! Hope the sales justify a sequel, & they learn their mistake & made a much better game.

My thoughts exactly whilst standing at the waterfall.

Yeah there are plenty of true "next gen" moments playing this, would have been great if this were an epic like batman AA etc, but I'm just glad its decently fun and not a complete turd. Of the ppl that have seen me playing this, one of them is a high end PC graphics whore, he was extremely impressed.

That's one of the main reasons i was interested in this game, i hope it does well enough for a sequel to improve on what was laid out in this game. I know they have members of Vigil in one of their studios, in particular the combat designer. If Ryse 2: Knights of England becomes a thing, i hope he works on it. Also 100% agreed about the graphics! Dat forest level!

What's the trick to executions? I pull one off every once in awhile but seemingly by accident.
I feel like I'm opposite of everyone else for some reason. Everyone is saying executions are too easy to pull off. And I've only managed a couple so far. What am I not doing?

I'm assuming it's all in the timing? I was under the impression from videos that they would practically be automatic.

That was the problem to begin with. A lot of people assumed a lot. ;)

its all about timing..in the executions
I will never finish the single player
I could not play GOW for the same reason

this is not my type of game
I cannot get past the boss at the end of the world
so I am done with it.. getting frustrated = no fun.. I even went all the way down to easy.. cannot kill him
the game is a chore, for me not fun at all
not the type of game I would ever buy
bring on fallout 4.. I would spend months on a game like that
well back to dead rising..now that game IS FUN

I imagine I'll probably be more in line with you on this - I can sort of play these types of games but they're not my preference and I imagine I'd probably fail pretty miserably quite often. I'm still thinking at some point I'll give it a rental or try out the demo and see if it changes my mind. I am glad to see that people who do seem to enjoy these games are enjoying it for the most part, though, so that's a positive.

I'm so glad to hear this. It means to me, that the game is a challenge. Love it!
