Hopefully those are some very tiny human beings...or that is one chonky machine.

It’s at least a quarter the size of that guy. Even if he is 5ft that would make it 15 inches. To be fair though, if that’s what it takes to run it at 2.2ghz I’m cool with that.

If I do get a next gen console, I’ll prob go with ps5 as my PC is still only a couple years old and dual GTX 1080’s and 32gb ram so I think that’s good for a few more years. Meaning most titles that come out on Xbox will be available on PC

Pricey is an odd word to use imo. Consoles have been pricey for a long time now. Not really sure who expects the main PS5 to be 400 either. MS could likely do that thanks to having 2 big sub services that can help subsidise losses and the potential of another in Xcloud, but even then, I doubt the XSX would stray to far from 500.

Anyone thinking either console will be less than $499 is setting themselves up for disappointment. Not saying it won’t happen but certainly don’t expect it. Only a couple of months back I saw people quoting as much as $699 due to the insane specs of the consoles.

$699 and it's game over for consoles.
Agreed but let’s be honest, you wouldn’t be able to build an equivalent PC for $699. The equivalent CPU on PC is the 3700X which costs $300 alone. Then you have a 12 tf GPU (equivalent to 2080), GDDR6 ram and SSD, Motherboard and OS, you’re talking well over $1300.

IF both PS5 consoles have the same specs...
I expect Sony to use the diskless console to match the XSX and the disk console (which I think will also have a bigger SSD) to be $100 more.

They said everything is the same except the disc drive so no bigger SSD

the quote from the man himself:
What's the difference between the all-digital PS5 and the standard one? Obviously there's a disc, but are you focusing on more storage?

As you saw, there is a small difference in the form factor of the two consoles. I'm sure you also observed, the basic design aesthetic is consistent between them. So there is that and the fact that the digital edition does not have a disk drive. That is it. Other than that, they are identical products.
I added the color.

yes, Sony confirmed the ONLY difference was the optical drive.

I would pay that for the XSX

Pay that much but you better not complain and bitch a year later why MS screw us early adopters by cutting the price to $500. If the Series X isn’t selling I expect MS and retail chains to offer crazy deals for it like it happened with the X1.

I doubt they will be as pricy as you'd think.

Sony is remaining very quiet with their approach and strategy to next gen, but I'm guessing they will go for a $400 and $500 model with the units that were previously announced. But i don't think this is where their strategy ends, though. About a year back, Sony paired up with Microsoft to use their Azure servers for game streaming and image sensors - obviously something they've been pondering over for some time. I guess the obvious answer is Sony plans to stream games with those servers, but we don't know what kinds of games that will entail nor do we know very much about the DualSense controller aside from the haptics and adaptive triggers. I find that part to be very strange.

There is no way whatsoever it will cost $699. No more than $499 if they want to compete at all with Sony.

I never do as I am an early adopter

This is the major innovation with the next-generation of console hardware. They have faster CPUs, they have faster GPUs, and that was really important to be able to achieve the visuals that we showed. But the biggest change across console generations is absolutely going to be the I/O bandwidth that we're able to achieve with the SSDs that are in next-generation consoles.

And now we know that Sony is using Oogle as well as Kraken for compression. This is going to be interesting. Cenry spoke of the decompressor chip they built for the SSD to be able to decompress Kraken code and if compressed well that it could compress up to 22GBs of data over the 8 to 9GBs. Holy crap! Imagine what developers will do once they wrap their heads around this thing. Games are going to look spectacular.
