They've said less but shown more. We've seen actual gameplay from several games on their console, the other company has talked a hell of a lot but not really shown anything other than a poorly received Halo demo on PC, Minecraft and for some reason Gears 5 over and over again.
🙈 I am taking about BC and FC.

Nope Sony has been quiet and its troublesome.

They were/are running the clock down, which I knew they would. If they are silent, it is for very good reason, and it's not necessarily the reason you think it is. I would tell you to wait but obviously it's taking a toll, which generally occurs if it's not something you are used to. If you hadn't noticed, though, Sony has only spoken of the specs (early specs) of the hardware and a few of the obvious controller feature and nothing else. Things like this should raise questions, yet no one seems to be the wiser despite how long they've been competing. All I can tell you is Sony likes to shoot high and often out of left field.

Having said that, just because they are silent does not mean that they aren't prepared.

Like the PS2, PS3 and PS4, the PS5 will have a bay/compartment where you insert the new SSD. It is specifically designed to be user friendly to both locate and insert. Generally, it comes with a manual showing you exactly where this compart is, which is closed off from the rest of the system where you can see only the access point to that bay and nothing else, as well as how to install your new storage. It will likely have one phillips screw to secure the storage bay firmly in place, which the manual will also show you with a number of sketches. Any other questions, and it will walk you through those up until you are able to load content on your new storage.

I watched a video on YouTube how to change storage on PS4, I certainly wouldn’t describe it as consumer friendly lol.

The fatter PS4 is the same way, but it's HDD is located under the gloss face. Simply slid it back, and you have complete access to the storage, which the instructions in the manual shows how to do step by step with sketches. It's definitely consumer friendly unless you never picked up a standard screw driver before.

An SSD will be even simpler

Apologies, it was the one PS4 where you have to pull the top off on the left what I watched. Yes that looks slightly easier. As I said in a previous post, it’s not a major problem but speaking from a personal perspective, I’m uncomfortable pulling pieces of plastic apart, I’ve just got caggy hands. Thanks for your reply.

Sony made the slimmer model a little easier to access to cut down on steps to get to it, even though the concept is still the same. The instructions also tells you what type of drive you need to cut down on the confusion.

The update is also easy. It's very similar to downloading a firmware update for the console if you don't have access to the internet. USB: make a folder, in that folder you make another folder and toss the update in that folder from the website. Shove the stick in the console and let it format itself, and you're ready to go.

I don't want to go through all that and risk damaging my machine, if anyone could mess it up it'd be me so I just went with external storage lol.

To be honest, I didn’t know you could just go with external storage. Looked up on YouTube and saw people changing the internal HD. Feel like I’ve made a mountain out of a molehill now.

It's easy and if a person needed help those videos cover the bases.
Hopefully Sony has a port this time around.

Judging by the comments onsaid videos it’s not easy because many people need the videos to see how to do it. Saying that, if you can just add an external HD then that’s not a problem. I was unaware you could just add an external. Let’s hope you can add an external to the PS5.

You can add one for storage but you can only play next gen games from an internal one. Don't remember if you could play PS4 games on external, but essentially you need to think of an external drive as a place to store games to install later when you're ready to play them.

Externals are slower cause the OS still has to run on the slow 5400 rpm drive still.

No problem, it wasn't a feature the console launched with they added it a couple of years later. I have a 2TB external SSD hooked up, at first I had a 4TB HDD that required it's own power source but the damn thing died after a year and a half, I've had the SSD a couple of years now and no problems just not enough room for all of my games.

You can play PS4 games from the external drive on the PS5 but yeah you have to play PS5 games from the internal one. I doubt I'd ever want to play anything off of the external one though, I'm sure once we get the reduced load times nobody is going to want to go back to that. I can't wait to see how much it cuts off of RDR2 or GTAV, those games take a long time for with the initial loading.

I'm happy getting an external HDD for both consoles and transferring the games I'm playing over.

Sorry. You didn't get chosen.

The truth is, no matter what next generation console we buy, we’re going to struggle with storage. If we’re being honest and leave the console war pettiness behind, I think the storage situation is being overblown. Both consoles allow Hdd storage to play BC games and I don’t know about you but I’m rarely playing more than two, three games from one month to the next. How hard is it to copy a game from your HDD to SSD when you want to start playing another game?

Unless Sony matches this.... it's more of a struggle on PS5.

If the leaked price of the Xbox SSD is true, I won’t be buying one until the price is a third of that so I’ll be copying from HDD to SSD for the foreseeable future. I don’t play multitudes of games simultaneously so I don’t see it as that much of a problem no matter which console.
