So because we wanted faster load times means we should be happy about overpriced storage.Imagine complaining about loading times for years and MS finally gives you the latest and greatest tech to finally minimize loading times and people complain about the price of the latest and greatest tech.
So because we wanted faster load times means we should be happy about overpriced storage.
So because we think it is overpriced means we can't afford it.Latest and greatest tech costs money. If ya can't afford it, get a new hobby, better job, or use external HDD's and shift your most played games to the internal SSD. No one NEEDS this external card, you just WANT it.
Ruh Roh! Somebody be collectin dem welfare checks.Absolutely nothing in this card warrants the price. Just because it has a proprietary connecting doesn't mean the price should be double. It's like getting ram through Apple. MS made a mistake doing this.
Places like Eurogamer, Arstechnica and Engadget are saying It compares to similar SSDs that use PCIe and usually cost around $200.Absolutely nothing in this card warrants the price. Some people are buying XSS instead of XSX,skipped the midgen upgrades and think 1080p gaming is sufficient.Latest and greatest tech costs money. Because it is still overpriced.Except PCI-E Gen 4 NVMe SSD's are expensive and that's what this expansion card is in a proprietary form factor. People would still be complaining about price even if they gave the ability to use off the shelf Gen 4 PCI-E NVMe SSD's. New technology is expensive, period.
Not to mention Sony's SSD is even more proprietary in nature and they haven't discussed storage expansion at all.

Here is a 1TB Gen 4 drive from Sabrent, who I wouldn't call a top of the line brand in this field. It's 199.99, same ball park as the Xbox expansion drive.

Because it is still overpriced.
Big difference here is the off the shelf stuff will drop in price much quicker due to competition.
Don't care about Sony. It's about $30 more than average because of proprietary connection. Not abnormal. It's the choice of storage that's abnormal. Sure, they may be future proofing it, but it's absurd that, a nearly mandatory, storage expansion is nearly 50% of the purchase price.
Microsoft. As of now this is the only game in town. Also...Who says there won't be other companies that make these in the future?
Was just going to say this.Who says there won't be other companies that make these in the future?
Warzone says you're wrong. Its not mandatory or near mandatory at all.
Because it is propriatarty tech. If you think dozens of manufactures will be makihg these like on PC, then lols.Who says there won't be other companies that make these in the future?

The one that was linked to that is available now for 199.99 I bought two of last July for my Ryzen build at 199.99 each, so that drop is still slow. It's also faster by a fair bit than the SSD card seagate wants is to pay even more forBecause it is still overpriced.

No, it sounds like it WILL be other companies in the future. That doesn't say anything about "no other companies will make these in the future"
