Yeah, I'll deal until about 150 for a 1TB. Crazy that storage constitutes half the price if the console. Seems like getting a TB is nuts in the first place on at 499
$499 is cheap for a 12.1TF next gen console that includes a 1TB nvme SSD and a 4K UHDBR player.
I'm going to pass on this overpriced expansion drive. Get double the space for roughly the same price. Read this article:

MS announced already that any drive that you attach besides their Seagate drive won't play Series X/S games.
That chart is irrelevant because it compares USB 3.1 HDD to the Expansion card.
How do you think the external would work
Ah, let me explain. There's a huge difference between a Solid State Drive (SSD) and a Hard Disc Drive (HDD). The SSD has no moving parts inside of it, whereas the HDD is a traditional hard drive with spinning discs internally.
So that's why an SSD performs so much better, and that's what is the tech that next gen consoles will use. SSDs are not new technology; they have been in use in PCs for a while.
Digital Foundry tested a couple of external SSDs and found they perform VERY close to the internal Series X SSD.

It's still limited by the vastly slower usb speeds.
External drives via USB will not be fast enough.
I watched the video when it was posted.
They didn't show XSX or ENHANCED BC games running.
The only way to get the above is to use the XSX internal or the Seagate nvme SSD Card.
