It'll prob get patched, but if you get the ability to dual wield two handed weapons you'll be able to open barred doors by spamming heavy attack on them lol
I'm so getting on that!! Where on the skill tree is that do you know?

There's a free unique armor & cosmetic set if you link your Amazon Prime and Ubisoft accounts.

By the way, this set is "legendary" status, meaning all the upgrades are unlocked. You just need to spend the steel and leather to upgrade them. Comes with armor, a shield, spear, mount, bird, and ship cosmetics. May have some other things I haven't noticed yet.

I'm not sure if the ranged ability that keys you shoot through walls would also work, but I just unlocked that so I may have to give it a try for science.

Not a Valhalla post but I haven't played an AC in a good while. So I started Origins on my PC and installed some visual mods. It looks stunning and I'm really liking it after burning out on these games a few years ago. Plus I like Bayek as a character.

There's no penalty for re-specing your character, right? Think I am going to do that. Although I really like how all the trees are useful. I use a good mix of bow, stealth and combat in this game. Most past games I'd ignore the bow completely, but they all have their uses in this one.

I haven't done it yet but I think the help on the loading screen suggests it's free, if you get that message in the brief loading window.

I still haven't opened many of the games I bought in the first half of the year, but this is my GOTY so far. The raids have me laughing much of the time with all of the chaos that takes place.

No penalty, you can do it at will.

The skill tree black smoke is dumb. YOu have to route to end of a branch to see another branch. If you do not like it, you have to do full reset with everything blackout......
Most games with big tree allow you to
a) plan (by allowing you to see the whole tree)
b) allow you to walk back on points, instead of resetting the whole tree if you put one point wrong.....

One thing I notice is that the entire level before you get to England is basically an easy mode tutorial, but also the early stuff in England is even pretty easy. I'm finally in an area that is higher than level 20 and it is starting to get more fun.

I have no idea why they blacked out the skill tree until you unlock it, I mean, everyone is just going to google it in 2020 anyway. As long as you can re-spec that's fine though. Even stumbling through it blind, I never felt like I've gimped myself.

So, what's the point of the levels they slap on these roaming bosses?

I beat my first one who had a level of 90, meanwhile I just hit lvl45 and crushed him with my trusty hammer. It took a few tries because some of his attacks melt large parts of my health but once I got used to his move-set he went down without much of a problem.

I also hope the game ramps up its allocation of loot. I'm still using the Raven armor set and have 3 pieces of the Hunter set. And I haven't found a good new weapon since leaving Norway. I know past games in the series gave too much loot but Valhalla so far is a bit too stingy with its loot. Guess its difficult to find the right balance.

Just up the combat difficulty.

There's only like 5-10 sets I believe, they want you to upgrade and visit the blacksmith.
Same with weapons.

I’m still in the starting area haven’t had time to play been playing Cold War when I do. About to have 4 days off for Thanksgiving ready to dive into this game, from what I’ve been reading from you guys impressions it sounds great.

Got myself a scimitar from reda and it's so fun to use easily my favorite weapon so far.

Wow, huge patch. Tons of stuff in the notes, 5 gigs on the Series consoles. Wish I was actually going to be home over the holiday to try it!

Patch is out! I ended up playing for 30 mins to an hour trying it out. Graphics and performance are definitely improved. I'm noticing more detail on textures, characters, in cut scenes, and the draw distance looks far better (fast travel to a perch and take a look around).

There seems to be far less screen tearing, but it's still there on XSX in performance mode. I'm guessing they matched whatever the PS5's tear method was, and it far less pronounced and noticeable now. If you're looking for it, you're still going to see it here and there.

I tried switching over to the graphics mode. It unfortunately requires a complete restart of the full game to switch modes. Runs in 30fps, I noticed no tearing whatsoever. Detail from resolution definitely appears to be better. That said, the camera look speed mixed with higher detail and slower frame rate is pretty distracting to my eyes. I vastly prefer the performance mode, but it's really cool to have options. This graphics mode will be great for taking screen shots! Sucks you have to do a complete restart each time though.

I also noticed you can now see what the main perk is on the skill tree with a description of what it does, even if that portion of the tree is still hidden behind the "fog". Adrenaline nodes are visible too. Helps you know what you want to build towards.

I'm pretty happy with the patch from the limited time I spent in the game. The game looks more "next gen" to my eyes now, which I wasn't expecting. I didn't even remember to check out the inventory sorting changes. Seem like a pretty solid first patch for a big game.

Did they do anything else except fixing the tearing in performance mode?

So I hit a very annoying bug. In England, I can't fast travel or save anymore. If I go into the area that opens up after you build the seer's hut and do the short fetch quest, I can save and fast travel there but when I get back to jolly Engerland no dice.

Going to be starting this game soon. Not that happy with the incompetent patch that Ubisoft put out for the PS5 but will give it a try. Wonder if they will be able to roll that back.

I didn't think I'd care for this game, but I love it so far. Exploration is fun. The graphics constantly have ne taking screenshots. I like the way they are handling the side quests.

i like Eivor (although UBIs typical cognitive dissonance is still on display). He's cool and has an awesome voice, lol. The beard tech is second to none!

The fighting and upgrades are fun. Aside from typical giant game world problems, its a gem, imo

Yes, as usual with AC games, definitely contender for goty for me.
That goes to Ghost of Tsushima for me. It was just tighter and well paced with superior combat and a more engaging, emotional story.
