Just had a glitch after using the fabricator and now none of the doors open and teleporter doesn't work. Can only restart cycle as far as I know so everything lost very cool.

Were you using the default suit or preorder one? I've heard default has virtually no glitches but once you put on another suit, chances of a glitch happening increases a little.

VGTech's analysis

PS5 renders at a native resolution of 1920x1080 and uses temporal upsampling to reconstruct a 2880x1620 resolution.

Performance is quite variable so your experience may differ from what's shown here.

I was using a preorder suit at the time. I saw a post on Reddit about it as well so switched back.

Took me three tries but finally beat the first boss. Got pretty lucky with most things including a really nice gun.

Been hearing how people are surprised it's native 1080p with how sharp the picture looks. Can't wait to try it out on my own TV.

Game is tough and I've had two crashes. One of those crashes came during the first boss fight. Speaking of the first boss the dude has 3 phases each with a huge health bar, sheesh. There's something called adrenaline where you get perks like a stronger melee attack or more resources after each kill. Sounds great right? The thing is you get adrenaline with kills but lose all levels if you take any damage. So one little hit during a big encounter and you've lost all those perks that require kills to get. Talk about a brutal mechanic.

Not sure why when most people playing modern games on PC are playing 1080p/DLSS to 1440p or 4K.

1440p/144hz+ definitely the sweet spot right now because of hardware limitations. We are not at the point where 4k/60 is consistently possible.

Pffft, I barely made it past the first boss. Seriously, I made it past him with a sliver of health. This game makes me sweaty.
Yea it took me three tries and the final one barely squeaked by even with what I would imagine was a great load out and lots of health. The second boss I actually beat on my first try, and only died once in that area.

I'd say it took me double the amount of attempts at the first boss. Just making it to the boss was a struggle for me. That is until I realized you can go back to the ship to sleep which replenishes health. Knowing that and the fact that you are temporary invincible when dodging really helped me out. Also, melee is super useful and I believe the devs made it that way for players to be aggressive. I still think its a bit too punishing to lose all adrenaline bonuses after taking damage.

After I made it to the second area I was cruising along until I met the tough enemy at the base of the mountain. He destroyed me and I quit. This game is very much like the Souls games making the player repeat a lot of the content upon failure which is super demoralizing/frustrating. There's no checkpoint system or saving of any kind that I can see. Its just up to the player to make as few mistakes as possible by making them use their reflexes and memory.

I honestly think I got lucky on my run to beat the first boss. I had like 180% integrity, a bunch of good buffs, and the astronaut. It still took me down to like 15% health after using everything. Even my second go against him took me down to a sliver of health. And yea definitely need to leave health pickups when possible and heal via other methods so you can gain integrity instead. I died once in the second area then did a full run of area one and two before barely beating the second boss. I feel like to beat any of these you need to do full runs of the previous areas at least until you have a bunch of integrity and artifacts. It might be worth just running the first area to farm ether so you can buy stuff as needed in future runs to actually beat areas.

Supposedly an update for this today but not sure what it includes. Was mid run last night so I'm guessing if it auto updates I'm f***ed.

I hear ya when it comes to farming. The issue for me is if you die you lose all that you farmed for and have to do it again. This game is "get good" to the maximum.

This is the first Sony exclusive I can think of that had game breaking bugs. I was using one of the preorder suits and after I went back to the ship to replenish health the door to the next area wouldn't open. I couldn't even return to the ship. I had to re-start the cycle which meant I lost all that I gained up to that point. Its happened several times and I've just given up on using any of the other suits and will stick to default.

I think the only things you can really farm are ether plus very rarely the cubes, which in biome 1 require beating the boss. Supposedly biome 2 you don't have to at least. The ether can be traded for obilites to at least be able to buy upgrades.

Yea I had the locked door issue once while using a pre-order suit. Reddit consensus is that is the cause but I have seen a few others say they were on default suit when it happened. Seems like the majority of posts now on the subreddit are calling for save and quit feature, especially after countless people, including myself, were caught by an update resetting all progress.

I have a question. Are we expected to travel all the way back to the ship to replenish health as we progress through the game? That seems like a lot of backtracking. There has to be a better way to get back to the ship to rest and recover health.

I played for at least 5 hours yesterday and had 0 crashes whatsoever. Never changed from the original suit, weird so many others were having problems.

I'm not sure you can go back to the ship from biome 2. Biome 3 there might be a way but haven't tested it. Either way there isn't a way to take a teleporter between biomes unless its the one way crimson gate.

Thanks, and you're right its a one way trip to the 2nd area through the crimson gate. I thought there might be some other way to get back to the ship to refill health that was to be discovered in that area. I guess I'll have to rely on health pickups at that location and hope for the best.

Small spoiler for biome 3 if you aren't there yet..

There is a way to get from biome 1 to 3 without using the crimson gate. I'm guessing you can go back that way as well but haven't tried it.

Honestly seems like biome 1 you just gather as much stuff as possible. After doing it enough it should be easy peasy. Then head into the next biome you need and should have a good base. If I can get 200% integrity then no worries just picking up health as needed.

Finally got my copy this evening and played for 2 hours or so. The game is awesome! Controls feel great, best haptic feedback implemented yet since Astro's Playroom. Feeling those little raindrops on your controller never gets old. The whole atmosphere is really well done. It is like Metroid Prime meets Alien meets Prometheus. Those fog and particle effects look amazing. Visuals and IQ are great, smooth performance. I cannot believe this is internal res of 1080p. Looks much more like 1440p+, really sharp.

I beat the first boss and plan to explore as much as possible before going to the second biome. That boss fight music gets my heart pumping, OST is bomb.

Can't wait to get back into it tomorrow.
