Sounds like a failure to me.
I spent 4 years and didn't get laid and didn't get a good degree either.

Yup pretty fun little game especially once you turn up the difficulty or go into mutated zones, a lot of enemies and dead bodies and limbs on screen, but kinda forgettable.
353 already told us Covid affected the release. Santa Monica told us Covid affected the release.
The claim was the delay was mostly due to covid, not backlash or need time to polish etc.343 had to rebuild the game after the backlash......what am I missing?
People are pretending the backlash wasn't relevant.343 had to rebuild the game after the backlash......what am I missing?
Ah.People are pretending the backlash wasn't relevant.
Lol comparing a dlc like with pretty much every asset already there to a new Halo engine multiplayer heavy game.Every game studio is affected. Doesn't stop the games that were released so far since next gen launch from being released. Look at Insomniac, they are like a machine churning out quality and well polished games. Released Miles just 8 months ago and now releasing Ratchet today. You don't think they are affected by COVID too? Bluepoint Games?
Returnal got delayed too by a couple months but they made it work. Kena delayed around 4 months. They've already shown gameplay videos and we have an idea of what the games would look like so these delays are probably more for optimizations.
I guess Halo Infinite needed more time because people weren't happy with how it looked so far after 5+ years of development.
God of War 2, nothing was really shown, so their delay was probably more because they needed additional development time since they just released the first one 3 years ago.
Oh now shut up and kiss the haptic trigger and say with me ALL HAIL PLAYSTATION!Lol comparing a dlc like with pretty much every asset already there to a new Halo engine multiplayer heavy game.

But unlike The Lost Legacy, which was released on the same platform as Uncharted 4, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will have the added wrinkle that, in addition to focusing on a new character and adding new gameplay features, the PS5 title will also build on the PS4 game with new technical improvements to take advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware. A post on the PlayStation Blog details some of those improvements, including “near-instantaneous fast-travel across Marvel’s New York City” and “highly-detailed character models and enhanced visuals,” compared to the original PS4 title.
People are pretending that Santa Monica and 343 lied about Covid impacting their release date for their respective games. People are pretending all companies are impacted the exact same way from Covid.343 had to rebuild the game after the backlash......what am I missing?

Shocker. Everybody lies. It's easier to say delay due to covid than we got backlash, games look bad. Its PR white lie.People are pretending that Santa Monica and 343 lied about Covid impacting their release date for their respective games. People are pretending all companies are impacted the exact same way from Covid.
Why a game being built from the ground up with a new engine, larger campaign, multiplayer and forge components taking longer to build than games that were already using an existing engine that only have a campaign (some at native 1080p) is also being asked.
They are also comparing dev time for a full game to DLC.
Its a tough sell to think the decision to delay it was made in the two weeks they were getting bad press and that was unrelated.Sounds like people know what goes on with every company (impressive) and everyone assumes everyone is a liar. Imagine going through life like that
You can think 343 and Santa Monica lied. That’s your choice. I was raised to think the best of people. Our company also didn’t lie about how Covid impacted us. But we are probably liars, right?

Not worried about a sell. I’m wanting a great game. I’ll wait till it’s great. Its a tough sell to think the decision to delay it was made in the two weeks they were getting bad press and that was unrelated.
Exactly that is why I am glad about backlash. So many didn't want anyone saying anything negative about but we lucked out that they did.Not worried about a sell. I’m wanting a great game. I’ll wait till it’s great.

They would have made whatever cuts were needed. This is a 343 that released a broken game in MCC and Halo 5 without Big Team Battle or Forge. There was zero mention of MP at all last year. Nothing. Not even any hint of what it might be. How many players, modes, anything? There was nothing.
I doubt that game was ever going to release with or without the backlash. If it was going to come out, it would have been single player only. I doubt they were ever going to do that.
People are acting like the backlash was the only indication we had of problems.
Like so many game companies, they thought that ignoring the obvious would be the best way forward. I think they knew that game was never going to release that year. They wanted to get through E3 with positive press, and of course like all things it backfired on them. That E3 should have been about the XSX and not Halo which wasn't going to come out anyway, and it would have been better for MS.
They should have released another CGI trailer and just been honest about the delay.
If they just needed to enhance the graphics, that wouldn't take an entire calendar year.
Heck, people will hate on whatever they do this year too. That doesn't mean the game is going to delay again.
There is no question it wasn’t finished. Hell, multiplayer was never shown and it’s the bread and butter.Let's be honest with ourselves. COVID is not the sole main reason for the delay. Yes, it may have affected some of the development process but Halo just didn't look finished.
There would probably be a delay either way, pandemic or not, and that's fine. Just don't make it like COVID was the only reason why Halo was delayed. There were other variables unrelated to the pandemic.

And there were rumors of the SP and MP getting split so I could have seen that happening.
If they knew it was going to be delayed they would and could have gotten out in front of that by announcing it anytime before the show. Which would have made it easier to deal with any of the negativity.
What we are getting is the completed game as opposed to whatever corners would have been cut. You can't just ignore 343s history. You're really missing the XSX factor. Had there not been a console launch with limited games, I don't think there would have been the push. And yes, waiting on announcing the delay was a huge mistake. It isn't the first time they'd done that and even though we've come a long way from X1 launch, people still make mistakes.
There was way, way more going on than the textures on some model. This e3 we're going to see a lot more gameplay and probably an MP beta. That's a game that is really coming out.
It isn't like Halo was the only game to get pushed. Games are hitting multiple e3s. Remember all the games that were supposed to launch 2021 and are now getting pushed to 2022? Look back to last year's E3 at how many games we thought we'd be playing right now.
