But that doesn't necessarily mean Gamepass was a detriment to Outriders. It probably would have underperformed either way.

I am impressed at how some people in game forums seem to know more about MS than MS. If that was the case, I don't think they would be trolling forums. They would be billionaires.
Outriders publisher got paid in advance for it going on GP so they didn't lose out

How the hell would you come to that number. If you take Outriders for example, there is no real baseline to determine that number. Not to mention that number could be millions and the payout huge. Doesn't seem very business savvy.
They said it exceeded it initially at launch. Then it just went downhill from there.
They might've been better off releasing some small MTX, me and my mates I played with would've happily bought a couple skins since we enjoyed it.
The indie thing is funny, halfway through the 360's lifecycle when MS went all in on kinect and basically abandoned any new AAA first party IP I was told by a few here that the focus was on indie style games/xbox arcade and that was what mattered then the PS4 comes along and indies are blown up on the PlayStation platform for the early years and now it's back to MS/Xbox being the indie darling.
I generally don't care for indie games, I don't buy a new console to play games that look like NES games in HD/UHD. Sure there are a couple coming that have a unique style, The Last Night looked pretty special until it sat in development hell for years and now we have two or three other indie games announced that look just like it and will be releasing first. It's just like politics, most people switch their argument when one side is leading in a certain way, personally I couldn't care less about who is more popular with indie devs/gamers, for every indie game that looks like Kena or The Ascent there are 30 that are pixel art and show virtually no creativity other than a person figuring out how to make a group of blocks loosely resemble a person.
