Speaking of the new shows I started watching Picard and I liked the first season but man it's getting more and more woke as it goes. It's already very female centric but it's getting preachy too. It's good to see Seven of Nine from Voyager on the show though. I was never a hardcore Star Trek fan I just always watched the reruns when I was little so my Mom took us to see the movies with the original cast when they came out. I didn't watch TNG or DS9 when they were new but I was a fan of Voyager from the start and ended up liking Enterprise as well.

It's funny the newer Star Trek shows on Paramount+ have really good special effects for a tv show, I don't know why Halo looks so much cheaper but it does.

Most reviews I've seen say ep 1 was ok but ep 2 is where it falls apart but we'll see what you think after it airs. They all had press screeners for the first two episodes.

I've watched it, the battles look good but the characters are all annoying AF lol well other than Spock and Michelle Yeoh's character.

Just finished watching first episode and it was pretty good. One thing I didn't like was Elites looked fast and lethal at first but when the Spartans show up they kind of turned into bumbling dopes who were slow af.
The Covenant all looked good visually as did the UNSC base. So special effects look good.

On a side note Spatan soldiers boots looked every bit as awkward to walk and run on as I had imagined from game art of them.

I actually enjoyed the slower pace of the second episode because the story is so intriguing to me. They've clearly made some big changes to the foundation of the Halo story, and it's looking super interesting.

It was uneven in the first episode. I've heard that VFX studios have been overloaded the past year or so, maybe it will get better as the series goes along. I had really, really low expectations and I'm enjoying it so far.

The first few season of the expanse had some really “lacking” vfx….I feel like it takes time for said studios to find a balance with any series.

I’ve only seen the first episode, it had its moments where in my mind I was like “yo, that looks dope….impressive” and other times “not impressive, but not bad” more like “they should’ve used a different angle or tweaked the ‘ease in, ease out’ for the animation.”

Like some of what people post is either sped up or the image is compressed that its just misleading, but I guess ya get a sense for what to look for, if you want to look for it.

Maybe I’ve got some kind Nam the expanse ptsd feels still lingering cos I’m getting similar vibes from it. Especially the rebels/insurgents feel and sound similar to the belters

Have to say I thought he was doing a very passable job as 117. It was always going to be a tough one to portray but I felt he got the stoic killing machine piece spot on. He does need more time as the character with the helmet on though.
