I get it, being hard is a selling point for the soul genre. Taking away hardness takes away the achievement of finishing a soul type game. But fk, does every hack & slash game need to follow the same formula? Have some hard games for the elitist gamers. Let the rest of us enjoy able to enjoy games as hobby, passtime.

Not every thing in life needs to be challenging.

This game looks like fun, but fk, I do not want to fight a boss for 3 days, or loss my process & redo the same s*** I did 30mins ago.
But if they add easy they aren’t taking away the hardness.

Probably not as easy as just adjusting the dial for difficulty settings for these games. It's not like the AI will react any differently , maybe just less life and less frequency of attacks.

By aiming for just one set of difficulty, the devs can focus on just the boss fights and AI instead of fine tuning easy medium and hard which may complicate their process ? Kind of like how much better optimization would be for just one set of specs to focus on.

All the people quitting … do you play other Soulslikes?

Got me scared to start this lol
I must nearly at 50 tries on the boss. I’ve only gotten him to the first phase once. He’s is absolutely brutal and an extremely hard way to start the game when the mechanics are barely explained to you. I’m not giving it up on it but I am finding it a little frustrating.

The first phase is easy compared to second. Even with barely taking any damage during first, I still died in second with 3 potions lol because of how much DMG the boss can dish out.

Not that hard. Tone down how much damage they can take and give out and take away certain phases like other games do.

I absolutely do NOT like souls like games. But..... I'm finding this game or at least the demo to be a happy medium. No stamina bars and a very forgiving parry system have me at least competent in what I've played. Have I died a bunch? Yep. But this felt more fair and more importantly fun than any souls-like I've played. I might try the full version on gamepass when I get a breather from the backlog.

Did you ever play Nioh?

Hi-Fi Rush isn't a souls game, but what their difficulty did was widen the threshold so being on beat wasn't as precise. That's all I'm asking for. Make the parry window wider. Also, don't make parry and dodge the same button. I have a tendency to tap the parry multiple times, so instead of parrying, I'm dodging and emptying out my spirit meter. I don't think you have an option to change those button binds.

So, played tonight and I feel like I picked up the combat quickly. First boss is definitely a handful though.

I don’t have much trouble getting to Phase 2 but he just becomes a major pain after that. I went back and started grinding a bit to level up. I got him close a couple times but no cigar. Taking a break for the night and will hopefully get him next sitting.

So basically what I'm getting from this thread is I'm the man for beating the first boss
No, you're this;

Was able to get him down and proceed to the second boss, who doesn't seem as hard. But I only put two attempts in, think I’m done for today. Really enjoying the game though.

It took me about 80 attempts to beat the first boss. Then when I did beat him he didn't land one single hit on me

The second boss was easier. 3 or 4 tries to beat him. Third boss was a walkover. Beaten on the first try and he only hit me twice I think.

RIP XSS

A comprehensive tech review of all every console to receive a Wo Long release. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions get the premium treatment here: running at up to 1440p at 60 frames per second with boosted visuals. The same however cannot be said of the Series S, which targets 60fps but with glaring cutbacks to its visuals - often putting its textures and effects in line with a last-gen experience.

Released on 7 consoles.
A total of 11 modes.
PS5 and Series X offer Performance (60 FPS) and Resolution Mode (60 FPS).
Performance mode locks to 60 FPS better than Resolution Mode.
Visual settings are the same across both modes, but the resolutions are different.
Performance Mode: 2240x1260 on both PS5 and Series X. DRS might be there, but rarely noticeable or kicks in below 1260p.
Resolution Mode: Native 1440p on both consoles.
PS5 and Series X have no visual differences.

Series S is different.
Resolution Mode runs at 900p at 30 FPS with uneven frame pacing.
Performance Mode runs at 900p at 60 FPS with a relatively more aggressive DRS.
Textures, shadows, cloth physics, textures, fire effects, draw distances, particle effects are all downgraded on the Series S -- which is similar to the last-gen experience.

PS5 Resolution Mode - 1440p at 60 FPS. Generally hits 60, but battles can push it down to 50 FPS, and sometimes even slightly below that. Cutscenes locked at 30.
Series X Resolution Mode -- 1440p at 60 FPS. Similar situation. There was one sequence (staring into fire), when Series X was at 54 FPS while PS5 was 53 FPS (lol), but that's the only difference DF could find in terms of performance.
XSX Performance Mode - Much better. Drops to 58-59. Battles drop to 55 FPS sometimes. Most extreme case dropped to 50 FPS.
PS5 Performance Mode - DF didn't share or show much details, but said it's similar to Series X.
Series S Resolution Mode - Pretty stable at 30 FPS with minor drops. 60 FPS is preferrable because it's relatively stable.

Summary: Not a polished game. Visual bugs, drops, and last-gen type game running at 60 FPS.
