2015 Game of the Year Discussion Thread

No unfortunately. Bought Forza 6, Gears, Madden, Geometry Wars 3 in the last couple of days. Nothing else strikes my fancy other than FO4 though...
Ah ok. I saw that you got Gears just by seeing your gamer tag on the xbox, I'm thinking about getting in on that too since it's on sale for 15.

If we're talking exclusives, it's Bloodborne for me hands down. Loved that game. The Witcher 3 or Fallout 4 will win GOTY though. I'll go with Fallout 4 now that i'm towards the end of the game. What a game. Being set in Boston makes it extra special to me.

I'll throw a curveball and say Rocket League. Still playing it and enjoying it as much as I was on launch day and I don't see my self stopping any time soon.

Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 are the obvious candidates though. If I had to pick between the two I'd probably pick Witcher 3. I personally enjoy Fallout more (the setting and gameplay is more suited to me), but Witcher 3's questing is something else.

I want to say Ori just to be different but damn Witcher 3 was a beast of a game and loving Fallout too.

Ori for me easily. It's nice to see someone still advancing 2d games.
The game introduces new gameplay mechanics all the way through.

Is Fallout 4 really worth the money? If so, I'll get it digitally right now. Can someone give me a run down, and their honest opinion? I hear performance isn't that great. I'm not a stickler for a few frame drops or pixels, but I understand the performance can get really bad.

Simple answer is yes, it is worth the money.

However, do not expect new ground to be broken. The missions structure and set up is typical stuff for a FPS RPG. X1 version does have performance issues with plenty of slowdowns and judder. The game isn't the best graphically but has some nice touches to it. The story--which I haven't finished--seems to be short.

Not sure if you played Fallout before, but the gun-play improvements are awesome. Changes to VATS make it more interesting. We can now modify weapons and armour. The settlement building is a time sink. Plus, fallout 4 is still a joy to wander around in...looting, shooting, exploration, and seemingly random events never seem to get boring.

Worth the money, but if you have to plenty to play all ready then perhaps it is not a wise purchase.

The games I played that is released this year, Witcher 3, LaraCroft Go (IOS), Agent A (IOS), & fallout 4. Yes, I did not play that much games.

I haven't complete fallout 4, but I cannot see it beating witcher 3. It beats fallout in most departments, visuals (by a landslide), characters (so far),quests (both main & side), & plot (so far). The 2 areas I think DFallout beats witcher 3 is customisation/upgrades, & leveling up. To collect items & ingredients to make potions & gears is a big chore, as its way too specific & too much type in Witcher 3.The leveling system is 'casualise' from Witcher 2. Because there is only limited slots for skill, I end up not having any use for many points later in the game.

Actually, I think maybe combat, Fallout 4 win slightly too. You just have more weapons type to play with. My play style did not change much from start to end in Witcher 3.

Now that I mentioned many of the flaws (my opinion) of Witcher 3, I still give WItcher 3 the substanial lead for game of the year. I made a final accessment after I complete Fallout4.

Big: Witcher 3
Small: Life is Strange

The Witcher 3 for me. Nothing else I've played this year has been as good.

Lots and lots of great games this year!

The Witcher 3 is my goty pick

That said, there were so many contenders that just had so much competion.

Dying Light, Far Cry 4 (was that this year?), Ori the Blind Forest, Halo 5, Forza 6, and untold indies. What a great year for gaming!

Still haven't played MGS or Fallout!

I won't count Gears, as that is a remake.

It interesting as I would have guessed more people would have gone with Fallout 4. Not that one game is better than the other but Fallout being a more recent release in gamers minds.

That Witcher 3 quality sticks with you. It is far beyond any other rpg I have ever played. It has everything, great graphics, interesting and well crafted world, great voice acting, interesting characters, a decent main plot, and it takes a huge step forward with secondary quests.

The only place it lacks something compared with other RPGs is with the skills system. It doesn't really have the variety and freedom that you find in a Fallout or Skyrim.

I hope I have time to finish Rise of the Tomb Raider before the end of the year. And since I haven't, I can't include that in my vote. Taking Rise out of the equation, I am going to have to go with Until Dawn. I will probably get lambasted for picking a QTE game, but no game this year engrossed me story wise the way that game did. And yes, I have all the big AAA games.

Oh, and do really need the A A A filter? That "ambiguous" insert is ghey.
