2024 will bring more layoffs and closures than 2023

Also doesn’t help so many publishers got greedy. Not every game needs to generate money constantly and then nickel and dime your player base. Making a good game people want to play is good enough.

These publishers chasing infinite growth and record profits are the main issue imo. As long as the company isn't in the red used to be the standard but once some of these execs saw the money making potential in gaming they changed the expectations and ruined alot of companies.

and not every game can be as popular as FIFA, Madden, GTAV, Fortnite, and COD generating that kinda money. Stop going after that crowed. Just make a good game with a budget they can afford.

Didn't they say they wouldn't be letting people go just lay month?

most business, Make it most people want to make more money.
I would never tell someone or a business that is do luxury business, which I include gaming , that they made enough money, or how they shouldn’t make more money.

What I may tell them is, with the attempted to make more money that annoyed gamers , they may end up making less in the long run , by annoying potential customers.
A business being a luxury ( unlike say taxes, or monopoly like fuel ) means customers have the luxury of not doing business with you and do so with someone else.
Treat customers well and you will ripe the rewards in $.

Tweet lack context. Layoff, shutdown?
My suggestion is go independence. In the digital age, there are so much more means to promote your game, get funding, that you need publisher.

If anything I see a gap in the industry that provide promotion services for small studios.

Studios should be given the chance to go indie rather than be shut down.
Can only thing if a couple that have had that chance.
But these studios should also have that put in place when agreeing to be acquired.
