What IP Should MS/ABK Bring Back?

I'll take a new Spyro, I'd love conker and banjo too.

I thought another Ori was a given but seems the studio wants to move on.
If they made a new Spyro I hope they'd age him up a bit so he can actually fly and also give it a proper storyline.

I can't believe Microsoft is having mercy on Sony. Like, literally... Sony wouldn't think twice about Microsoft! It's just a bad decision. Period.
They are just playing the nice guy as of now because it is still fresh. I am pretty sure once the contracts are done they are going to make things their way. Sony is screwed no matter what.
The phone call didn't happen with Zenimax, but it sure was there for Activision. Sony bent the knee.

Microsoft also doesn't have to do sh!t for anyone and keep all that s*** to themself and still make that money back. They made their money back from Zenimax and then some within, their war chest was only half of it. I think MS will do it again when this clears up, This could take up to a year or less.

What knee is there to bend other than "we will take game pass"? Which they certainly aren't doing yet.

Of course they spoke. Its not that strange. Take a step away from your console war.

It is a big IP but it's not doom and gloom for Sony if it goes away, the vast majority of PlayStation owners don't buy COD anyway. They would miss the money they get from it no doubt but people making comments like "MS showing mercy" when the reality is it's a smart business move if they do keep COD multiplatform. They aren't going to kill PlayStation with this and they also won't make the money back from this purchase for a LOOOOONG time even when prices go up. Once the sale goes through MS's total workforce will have grown by nearly 10%, between that and bethesda that's a lot more checks going out than before so it's a constant expense after the purchase price.

But had they bought them back then they probably wouldn’t have as many devs as they did when they did, no?
who bethesda?

I guess not, but they'd have Elder Scrolls exclusive, and they should have bought DICE way back when too. Isn't that who made Rally Sport Challenge?

So strange though, now MS has Bethesda and Double Fine.

Weird how dice went on to be the developers of Battlefield.

I'd trade Activision for Rallysport Challenge 3.

Just being a little nostalgic, that's all.

weird? Both Battlefield 1942 and RSC came out the same year. The reason RSC 3 never happened was because EA bought Dice and so began the steady decline of the once great dev studio.

No point having a 3rd racing dev.

Though they would have been perfect now for a Kart style game
Yeah, they’re primarily known for racing games, and porting, they have many support studios…but they’ve made or codeveloped like sega tenis games, little big planet, spydr , hitman, and Kinect games.

If playground could go on a work on two new games, one of which is a reimagining, why not?

Its bad for gaming. Gamepass could be on PS5 and Switch tomorrow and the consolidation is still bad for gaming. The disconnect comes from when people say its bad for gaming people think it that means Microsoft is bad for doing it.
I disagree with the "bad for gaming" because it lacks context. Good or bad on specific situations prove out in time. Consolidation is just something that happens in a growing, changing industry. There are a lot of aspects about this acquisition that have the potential to be good for many but it won't be good for everyone. This is an instance of consolidation but the industry itself is still growing and fragmenting.

The size of the deal is what will likely keep the game with the biggest money making potential from going exclusive. Again I don't really care either way I don't buy COD and haven't for years I'm just talking about it because it's the big story right now but the more publishers they buy the more expensive supporting GP will be. COD only makes the money it does because it's multiplatform, you won't get every person who plays on PlayStation to sign up for GP on PC or buy an xbox and sub to GP. I am curious how many current COD players on xbox are also GP subs already.
Size of the deal is all relative. The size of the deal and money lost vs something like Starfield is off-set by the size of the impact growing their platform by moving it exclusive. This wasn't a financial acquisition. It was strategic. That means they spent all that money to drive their strategy and build their platform. The math is based on projections 10 to 20 years from now.

That said....this move wasn't made thinking about PS5. Call of Duty's value is tied to millions of gamers on PS and that value will matter when the gaming paradigm shifts. CoD is not a game, it's a social platform. I think Microsoft may hold the community together by treating it like Minecraft. Their wiggle room may be based on community features between the platforms to streamline cross-platform friends.

I feel like there has been way to much monopoly talk from “analysts” who really don’t understand how it all works. This move only puts Microsoft in 3rd place for overall revenue in the gaming industry. If Tencent had bought Bethesda 2 years ago and just locked up this deal with Activision then we could see it not go through. Tencent is number 1 in revenue and has their hands in more things in the gaming industry.

Also if you look at Activision/Blizzard as a company we really are not consolidating much at all. Outside of Diablo everything else is PC and has never seen a console release before. Then when you look at Activision they literally have 7-10 studios all working on different COD games.

This deal really helps a lot by taking the COD handcuffs off a lot of studios and potentially reviving a lot of IP’s that most likely would have never been touched again. I can’t wait to see how many legacy titles hit game pass and please for the love of god can we finally get a new Banjo game.
I won't be surprised to see the deal get held up by politicians grandstanding but chances are highly likely it goes through. Antitrust generally comes from horizontal integration (when companies buy competitors). There are some horizontal elements (Battlenet vs Microsoft store, XGS games vs Activision games) but from those standpoints, it doesn't impact the industry much. If Microsoft tried to buy Valve, I could see that getting rejected. This deal still only makes up 11% of the industry.

One part of deal that probably does excite hardcore gamers but is very part of the deal is the Xcloud imitative. People think it's a foregone that Microsoft can convince Samsung, LG, and other tv man. to allow them to put a streaming app on their platforms, but that could be a hard sell. It is a lot more of a compelling narrative if you can dangle COD, Candy Crush, Wow, as well as Halo in front of them.

I would say Mojang definitely worked out. Sales number grew massively, as did engagement numbers after MS boug

We should all know (I hope) Microsoft is a software company.

They are Windows. Gamepass seems like their attempt to do Netflix for gaming, and only possible on Windows and Android probably.

I have no idea.

All I know is MS could throw around money, and now they're doing it, and really bolstering their software weight.

Apple throws out crazy expensive hardware, MS throws out software all over the place, Android/Google is somewhere inbetween these two, feels like MS and Google have a better relationship with each other than Apple does with anyone else. Does Apple have friends?

Is this the dumbest drunk post I've ever made?

Honestly, yeah it is. Lol.

But yeah, MS is a software company but GP is not limited by platform or operating system. Outside of native MS hardware and operating system it is all Xcloud...don't even need an app, all they need on any device is a web browser.

"Friends" don't seem to matter either.
