And people say PS+ isn't good value....Pfffttt

I'm definitely upset with Sony for putting the multiplayer behind a paywall. Especially considering they don't seem to be offering dedicated servers for most of their games like MS is doing with Xbox One. The price doesn't seem justified. Nothing else is behind the paywall. Party/XGC, Netflix, and all of that other social media garbage are still free on PS4.
F2P games and party chat isn't behind a paywall... Link me to where/why you are saying PS4 won't be using dedicated servers?
Last time I checked PS2 and DCU hosted thousands of players via dedicated servers.

I'm in agreement that all of those other things should be free. Simply saying that there doesn't seem to be anything there in the way of multiplayer on PS4 that justifies paying for it now.

First of all, I didn't say PS4 won't have any dedicated servers. I simply said that putting your multiplayer behind a paywall doesn't seem justified. If Sony also planned on having dedicated servers for the majority of their games, you would think that would certainly be something they'd want talk about.

Thank jebus I don't have a PS3 or I would have no life playing all those games. So, I'm kinda happy MS doesn't have that backlog yet.

That's the reason why I haven't sign up for PSN+ yet this gen yet. My current backlog + this = Overkill.
I'll get one next year.

I haven't even had a chance to really play any of these PS+ games yet. I mean they are there for as long as you have PS+, but when so many are coming out each month as well as new games, it's hard to keep up.

Ugh...I just bought DD:Dark Arisen last month!!

The only downside to PS+...buying stuff full price then its free a month later lol

But, I love it. So many games I can't afford or never played cause I thought it be silly to waste money and not like it.
X-Com, Vanquish, etc.. all games I wanted but spent money on other games I knew I would like.

For the price of a full game I've got a TON of stuff I never would have played or bought.

A guy asked me today "can I buy your PS3 when the PS4 comes out"..I said hell no! I'm gonna max that HDD out with + games instead of using my PS4 HDD...plus who has time to redownload a ton of games!

This is the problem of starting with a free service and moving up to a pay system. People feel its unfair to now pay the $50 bucks. Perhaps, PSN+ shouldn't have jumped so much in price but i think its great that Netflix and the other services are not behind the pay wall. That is a big selling point to some of my friends that rarely online game (yes, some people actually do not online game). Frankly, i believe Sony would be doing the wrong thing to push these behind the pay wall to "justify" their new price.

value for a service like this is totally based on the individual. those games arent value for me since i either already played the games there or have no interest in playing them

i have said this for many PS+ instant access games, i can download any game i want from the service using my bros PS+ account but in about 8 months i downloaded 1 game (Shift2, which wasnt a anticipated download and barely played it)

if you think the service has value then good for you, its a great service FOR YOU but i hate this whole PS+ is must have for every owner cause its so awesome lol

this happened to me last month. i bought a newly released game for full price and the very next month it was free for ps+ (game was Stealth Inc.)

doesn't instill much confidence. i'll be much more hesitant buying full price in the future and will be more inclined to stick with my current backlog

It doesn't bother me too much when I purchase a game and it goes free on Plus, because that's the risk I run when I buy any game at launch. I'm not saying GTAV is going to be free on Plus next month, but I've certainly had instances, especially this time of year when retailers get sale happy, where I bought a game for 60 bucks, then a month later it is $34.99 on Amazon, or 25 bucks at Walmart, or some stupid low price that makes me never want to buy a game at launch.

It just comes down to me asking myself, "Do I want to play this right now?" If that is worth the extra 20 bucks, as opposed to me waiting for the inevitable sale, then I buy it.

I bought Hotline Miami immediately off Plus, and I would have even if I knew it would be free on Plus in a month. (It's not on Plus.)

it's common knowledge that retail games drop significantly in price within a month or so, with digital games that's not necessarily the case (at least to me; i've learned now however)

People say it isn't a good value? Who? It's an amazing value. I mean so is xbl. For the price of a month of cable we get all this cool stuff.
I think most people who have a negative perception of it jumped in at the beginning, and haven't checked it out since. I signed up day 1, and that first year was terrible. I probably played 2 of the free games, both for an hour each. Once I let my subscription run out, then I couldn't access any of the things I downloaded (included avatars and themes), which was also annoying.

That said, I resigned up a month or two back, and it's been great. Much higher quality and quantity of "free" offerings from Plus now. That said, I think I've only played one of the games I downloaded for free since resigning up for about an hour.

But it's no different to what Microsoft did for the 360 man. I think it's the only way for them to improve the service. Just like MS did, I'm sure Sony will give us dedicated servers with all the revenue coming in because of the cost now. They will have more to spend and upgrade their online service. I was a XBox live member for 7 years straight and I didn't get anything from MS in that time except for being able to host my own games online in multiplayer games :really:

I think the free games they give is just a bonus with PS+, and that's how people should take it.

Price drops are not common knowledge. There are MANY titles that retain their value POST launch.

i really don't think that's true. most games retail for £35/40 and within a month are down to £20/25. it's a given (to me) that if i wait a month i can save a significant amount

Yea it'd take some amazing mental gymnastics to argue it isn't an amazing value.

And it takes amazing mental gymnastics to drum up an argument that doesn't even exist.
I like John but some of his threads come across as cheerleading.

I'm one of the people late to the PS+ party. But I'm glad Sony is keeping the bargins alive. Can't wait to finally try the service.

PS+ is a great value if you mainly game on PS3 and even moreso if you plan on getting Vita or PS4.

Far Cry 3 is pretty damned awesome too, highly recommended.

Hey man sometimes I just make threads to give people something to talk about. If I see it's quiet on the forum (and because this place is new) I'm just adding more topics. I know not all my topics are good, but least it gives people something to discuss.

I just try and make a topic that people can talk about, if it's not good just let it die, I don't mind :)

Also I'm getting tired of waiting for the new consoles that is all.

I reckon there is 3 good games this month if you own a Vita and PS3. I just hope the value stays there when PS4 comes out, becuase there won't be many PS4 games to choose from in the first few months so I reckon the choice of PS4 games won't be good on PS+.

I mean who is going to want to give their game away for free so early on with PS+ ?

It's cool. I think some people just didn't give PS+ a chance for whatever reason. Myself included. But those that did, loved it.

I'm glad Sony are keeping things pretty much the same except for online play. Microsoft has taken notice, so it's great for competition.

Well before I got PS+ I heard people say it's not that good value and the games that come out aren't that good. But so far of me having it, I'm really liking it and I think that Sony needed to add the online part in for a fee otherwise their service would not be on par as Xboxlive. I'm not saying it is now, but they are saying it will be with the PS4 with party chat added and other cool things they are doing with the PS4 + the free games is just a bonus IMO.

But I do think if Microsofts cloud service is good( and they don't charge developers alot for renting servers) that their servers for all games will be an advantage specially for games like COD. But I reckon IMO that if Microsofts servers are sucessfull, Sony will add this to all their games sometime by next gen having dedicated servers for all games too (if they can).

it would take them over 5 years to get the amount of servers needed to run all (or nearly all) PSN games

what they could do is use Gaiki(sp?) servers for hosting MP games rather then streaming games

again, who said it wasn't a good value? I think this thread is just so the OP can reaffirm his purchase. Good job OP you and millions of others got a great value, nice job.
