Anyone else conflicted over choosing systems or getting both?

Last generation l was primarily an Xbox gamer. I played all the multiplatform FPS and sport games on Xbox 360. It was definitely my preferred system. I also had a PS3 from launch but with the exception of Killzone and Uncharted, it pretty much collected dust for 8 years.
This time around I'm really hyped about Sonys machine. The new controller, the memory and the extra power have really impressed me. Microsoft not so much. I can forgive the whole always connected DRM fiasco but they just haven't impressed me with anything. I'm worried about how rushed the hardware and software is, I have my doubts about how well Kinect 2 works, and that its underpowered.
Im getting my PS4 on launch day for sure... But the Xbox One I'm far less sure certain about. Should I just wait it out for abit?

I'm glad you made the thread because I'm wondering if I should keep both pre orders.

I have both paid off. But I'm thinking about just loading up on games for one or the other instead of getting both consoles right away. The problem is I just don't know which yet, or if that's even what I want to do.

How so? I'm just wondering if most people have made up their mind on a system or if a lot are still undecided.

I've already made up mine. Already preordered. I went with Xbox because I felt it had the better games lineup. The only thing that remotely interests me on the PS4 is Killzone, but Xbox had Dead Rising 3, Ryse, and Killer Instinct. Not to mention all the MS exclusives I've loved like Halo and Crackdown.

The side things are nice and all, but I largely don't care. I like the snap feature and might use it. And on a side note, I think the PS4's specs are largely overblown.

Yeah I've paid off both too. I've been trying to watch more footage of Xbox stuff to entice me but there's not much direct feed out there. Which is stupid this close to launch. I really liked the new Xbox One commercial that came out today. Kinda got me jazzed up for it a little.

Not really. I've owned both the 360 and PS3 and I've made up my mind with PS4 pretty quickly because of the price factor and its specs looking better on paper. Other than Gears and the JRPG exclusives on the 360, nothing else appealed to me so I haven't really played my 360 at all since Gears 2. The PS exclusives were far more interesting in my opinion.

Ive been really conflicted, too, but really because I can only afford 1 right now. I like PS4's initial titles a little better, but I really want to play Forza 5, DR3, and Ryse (ok, auto correct just tried to substitute dysentery for Ryse...), too.

For now I'm sticking with PS4 and hope I can swing getting an X1 before end of next year.

See I'm the opposite. Forza, DR3 and Ryse have me more hyped than just Killzone and the potential for better third party games. But the PS4 comes out first. To wait a week for X1 would be torture.

Not conflicted at all. My PCs will cover 95% of my gaming next-gen with the PS4 filling some gaps in my PC games (mostly naughty dog and Japanese titles)

I bought over a grand in gear and built a new PC when Battlefield 3 came out... I hated it. I dont like mouse and keyboard at all and the hacks really annoyed me.
Driver conflicts, Punkbuster... Yuck. I'm sticking to my simple consoles forevermore.

I'm getting both. Aside from exclusives, I primarily played on 360 as well this gen, but I'm personally really excited to see what both consoles bring to the table this time. For me personally, there are a number of launch exclusives on both side of the fence I'm excited about, so I look forward to firing both up in 3 and 4 weeks.

I'll probably keep both as well and just get one game on each for a few weeks. There are few free games on each. Hopefully some demos day one as well.

I have been conflicted as well. I still have both pre-ordered but I am leaning PS4. I have been leaning toward the system since E3, but by how much has varied. I have been set on the Ps4 at times, and 51/49 other times. I do like the launch games of the X1 more, but if you look at the total launch window, i feel the X1 advantage goes away. Titanfall vs Deep Down, Driveclub, Infamous, and MLB the Show. If i was getting another console in 6 months then i would get the X1 now, but since i am not i see the launch games as less of an issue for me when deciding.

All i am 100% on is i'll chose one console. They are similar enough for my needs, and with most the games being multi-platform that i do not feel i need both at launch. I will likely add the opposite when it drops in price and/or has a new model (slim or whatever).

Both of them have about 2 weeks to sway me.

I bought a PC for gaming and use a controller with it. People think that is just stupid but its how i like to game. I do not game alot on it though. I tend to do most of my playing on the consoles.

I'm not conflicted, very happy with the XB1 preorder. I think there's plenty of reason for people to choose the PS4 and be delighted with that, and anyone choosing the XB1 should also be delighted.

What about people choosing both, can we be delighted????? :hehe:

I'm not conflicted just because I can't justify spending the money on both consoles. When I have to chose just one the decision for me is easily the X1. I would love to get both. And while I'm at it I'd throw in a WiiU too.

I have a PS4 pre-ordered to pretty much serve as my new blu-ray player that can do sony game exclusives as well. Everything else is PC.

If MS wouldn't have pulled all the DRM crap from the start, I probably would've pre-ordered the X1 first and went with a PS4 early next year. Now they are both guilty of doing something I didn't want to do (connecting to download a stupid update on day 1 with my internet connection being garbage) so I'm conflicted on whether or not to cancel my PS4 entirely because of this and 2 of the launch games I was interested in being delayed.

Not for me. IMO MS is moving forward and Sony is playing it safe and giving us a Triple Plus in a squished Wii case. ;).

In any event this will be the first gen that I only own one console.

I had both consoles on pre-order until a couple of weeks ago when I cancelled my Xbox One order. My reasoning was simple the Playstation has always been the preferred console amongst my circle (friends and family) all of which aren't 'big' gamers. We all love sports and buy sports games, Fifa religiously.

Could I afford an Xbox One, no doubt but would I be getting it just because I want something new? the hype? yes. Once I had confirmed this thought I cancelled. I will without doubt buy an Xbox One eventually and for gamers who like variety it has the best launch line up without doubt, I'm not biased but for a gamer like me (few hours a week at best) someone who only plays sports games whilst at times buying other 'top' titles (which usually sit in a backlog) the PS4 with Fifa and maybe Killzone for variety will suffice for now.

I will be keeping both my Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as most friends won't be upgrading at launch for various reasons, so I won't ever go without. There's enough to keep me occupied for a year or so before upgrading to the 'One'.

As I've said, I'm not buying a new machine until the spring, but I'm definitely going with a PS4. It's all a matter of choosing the system that's going to cater best to what you want in a game console. For me, that's RPGs and Quantic Dream titles.

Xbox One, no hesitation at all and the only system I will need, its going to be amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I made the mistake of buying both the 360 and a PS3 and that will not happen again. My PS3 collected dust for years and was only used as a bluray player. I sold my PS3 a few months ago and my Xbox One will look really nice in its spot :)

That's fine, completely up to you, but let's don't overblow PC issues. Hacks are far more rare than they were 10 years ago (yes, PB still sucks), Driver conflicts are far less common as well (unless you use an AMD card, I hear they're pretty bad).

I've seen a LOT of "hacks" in console online MP games. By "hacks" I mean people that find and abuse glitches (like getting outside of maps and such) and over the last 8 years I've had as many issues with consoles failing to work properly or at all just as much if not more (thank you RROD) than my gaming PC's.

I don't say this to start an argument. I say it so that anyone on the fence about PC gaming won't see your comments and think "Yup, just like it was 5-10 years ago".

I would be conflicted on which to buy if it weren't for the fact that I love Japanese games and don't love how all of Xbox 360's and Xbox One's functionality is all locked behind a pay wall. It wouldn't be a problem if just some of the functionality was locked up, but that's not the case, and it feels like Xbox is strictly a gaming console, not a media console, without Gold. That's my opinion.

I bought a PS3 with the first slim release, and literally used it only as a Blu-ray player, with the exception of GoW3/Uncharted3/TLoU...and while GoW3 was really fun, and UC3 was alright, there was zero replay value. TLoU I just didn't get into... at all... so I really don't forsee PS4 delivering any game experiences I'll really be interested in... but I'm still getting it for competitive analysis, and I'll buy Killzone.

I'm obviously getting one of the white X1's, and can't wait to dig in to Forza, Ryse, Killer Instinct, Dead Rising, etc... but also really looking forward to instant TV switching. My wife and I often switch between the two, and to be able to do that quickly/easily with voice - huge win for us.

The specs won't matter for game experiences (graphics will be the same), and all the other areas that matter - MS comes out ahead on. Forward thinking (cloud, snap, apps & games, wifi-direct, etc.), better services, better MP, better controller, probably runs more quietly, has instant on, more seamless UI, sign-in, controller swapping, etc., etc., etc...
