Are you ok with waiting for playstation AAA games...again?

We did it with ps3, and for sure the great games came, but why is it happening again? Its not like sony didn't have time to prepare. Sure ps4 is selling, sure the games WILL come, but why is there such a delay on a system that is so easy to develop for and had so much time?

Especially when you consider other platform launches only had 4-5 years to prepare for their new console launch and they had more games, maybe even a killer app, and this compared to 7 years to prepare this time?

I know the games will come, but by then the ps4 will get decimated by PCs. Not that its all about graphics either, but I mean its all about the AAA games, and alot of that IS graphics. At least last generation we got that mid generation surge were developers started to familiarize themselves with the hardware and games got better.

There is no learning curve with ps4, even xb1, they are PCs, no mid generation surge will happen other than the typical closed platform optimization you get that can improve things.

Not to mention we are starting off at a huge power disadvantage compared to last generation versus PCs at launch. At launch, a 360 versus a 2005 game rig was a fairly close battle with the rig obviously edging it out. A 2013 high end gaming PC versus a ps4? lol, not even close, and gap just keeps widening while we wait.

For me, I would have loved to see a God of War, last guardian or GT game at launch, KZ wasn't a bad choice but it just didn't resonate with the fan base or reviewers really.

I'm okay. Multiplatform titles and first party games so far have kept me well occupied. I'd really rather the AAA games be polished than rushed out doing more harm than good.

i agree multiplatforms do help alot, but i think sony AAA games > multiplatforms

however, i don't see why they should be rushed with all the time sony has had

I don't know, you'd have to ask Sony and the developers. I think game development is getting tougher each generation, and it can take some time to get accustomed to new hardware. A lot of developers would prefer to focus on a platform with 80 million install base, rather than just a few million, so that's got to be a factor, too.

The ps4 is a PC, its nothing like a ps3 for example. Not to mention, teams of 50 last generation or before are teams of 100 or more in some cases now. I do think its more of what you say at the end of your quote. Why push the big name games until a platform has more units shipped? We've already proved we will buy anything they tell us to, games or not.

Compare the first four months of the PS4 to the first four months of other consoles. Its arguably one of the best machines to ever come out.

No learning curve? lol.

and you have Killzone, Infamous, MLB, Drive Club, The order, and Knack as exclusives for this year. How many exclusives are you expecting each year ?

You are forgetting all the indies too. lol

I'm not okay with it, but it's not like there's anything I can do about it. There's nothing worth having on the X1 right now either, but I refuse to support MS ever again even if there was. I still play my 360 95% of the time these days with the lack of games that interest me on the PS4.

Nope. Not AAA games as your title asks for.

The 360 only released with Kameo, PDZ, and PGR...Launches are not filled to the brim with first party titles. I feel you have unrealistic expectations.

that was coming off a 4.5 year console cycle with original xbox, and was the point of my entire post.

7 year cycle.

Then your whole point means very little. A 4 year life-cycle or 10 year life-cycle matters little. You still have to create games for the older platform and the new platform has to wait till hardware is finalized and development tools bought up to scratch....etc. Again, you seem to have unrealistic expectations.

Hardware launches are always the same. A few exclusives titles surrounded by third party, most of the software tends to be some what rushed. If the software wasn;t good enough then why be an early adopter ? just exercise some patients and get 6-12 months or more later.

Fine with it. I know they're coming, so why rush them?

Ok, so from this. Hardware launches are always the same and time means nothing when planning for a new system launch.

I'm fine with it btw, I'm not chomping at the bit, as I said the games will come.

Ah I can't blame developers though. Even though the PS4 is selling great, the install base (and the X1's as well) is far lower the PS3/360. If you're going to put the time/money into developing a game, I'd assume you want it to be for a system with more users.
That being said, I'm really looking forward to another God of War, but does anyone know if Sony SM is handling it? If so it might be awhile before we see anything :/. Sounds like there is a big mess over there.

They will come, and quicker than you saw on PS3. As you said, the hardware isn't like the PS3, it is more conventional this time round, but do not be fooled in to thinking that means there isn't a learning curve.

As for AAA games, I'm still kind of hoping Last Guardian comes back in a big way at E3 for PS4.

For 3rd party, yes. For first and 2nd party, No. The whole purpose of these is to put compelling software on the new hardware. You do not see MS or Sony putting Forza 5, DR3, Knack, Infamous, KZ..etc on old platforms. These games build the user-bases so 3rd party continue to support.

I agree, comparatively speaking with the learning curve, we are tlaking about developers here though, some of that are used to coding in foreign languages on architecture like ps3 that was near impossible, this time around we get a PC more or less. Which is great.

PS3 had much more first-party support the latter years than 360 - so the PS4-games are further back in the queue. :-/
I think 360 only got 2 disc-based games in 2013, from Microsoft Games Studios. While PS3 got more than 10 discbased games from Sony. :-/
And you did get a new GT around launch-times, it were just on the old platform. :p

i don't know what that means "pushed back in the queue" you like the last us getting re released to fill in the drought? :p

jk, but i know what you mean, I'm just done with all the ps3 games too

I'm OK with it. That's why I purchased and XBox One. I knew what titles I wanted and most are on XB1 or PC. I usually play multiplatform games on PC or XB1 and only exclusives on PS4.

A year or so from now, I'll pick up a PS4.

If they were all coming out at launch or soon after then there would just be a drought later in the gen.

Thread is flame bait.
I have a question..were you okay waiting a year for aaa ps2 or get this 360 games?
Cause PS4 has a much better 1st year lineup then those consoles.
