Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Love the idea of explorer mode, just still skeptical about dialogue options. Bragging about 30 hours of dialogue in the game is a bit weird, that’s a lot of watching people talk

Well, keep in mind the 30 hours is all the different dialog options, added together. You will hear maybe 20% of that, in any one playthrough.

Played this for about 20 minutes at comicon in Stockholm today... feels very much like origin. Some mission following a bearded man but ran away and climbed some temples. Game looks amazing but got a feeling it was vanilla xbox or TVs was s***ty because it looked washed out and a bit fuzzy but the vistas from a top looks as good as always . Don't like the movement of Cassandra though, probably play as alexandros instead.

In Origins, a lot of the side quests were pretty wordy, but you can just skip the story if you want.

Most of all I’m excited about the world in this game. Just looks amazing. Seems like even more than combat or story, the map is the star of the show

Yeah I'm looking forward to this. It looks stunning. I see medusa is in it so I wonder who or what else you'll be battling

Sadly I think I’m gonna pass on day 1 purchase for this. I’m really looking forward to it, but I happen to be busy around that time, and so I wouldn’t get to play much anyway. I’ll just rent at first and wait for the BF or Christmas discount.

Yeah, there's a lot to choose from. I put my pre-order down today, because I'm in the mood for a game like this. I also picked up Dying Light ($13 on PSN), which will tide me over for the next two weeks.

Well since I won’t be able to play just a heads up I’m going to be hassling you all for impressions!!

Cancelled my pre-order. I'm getting into Far Cry Primal, and it'll be past Oct. 5 by the time I'm finished (I tend to play through games pretty slowly). I'm also not sure whether I'll be up for another Ubisoft open-world game after finishing Far Cry Primal. I might want to play something different. So, I won't be getting AC:O at release. I'll be watching for reviews and impressions, though.

I want to play this cause Romans are great but I don't because present time nonsense

You are just getting into Primal now? Where the hell have you been? LOL It's a great game, I'm usually not big on the first person melee based stuff but that game was a lot of fun.

Yeah, I like it a lot so far. I think I didn't feel like more Far Cry when it came out. Maybe I'd just finished 4.

I like being late to games sometimes, though. I think I have more of my own experience with the game, as compared to when I play along with a whole crowd of people, commenting and giving impressions. I think being outside the hype/review phase helps, too.

Well with Andy out, anybody else volunteer to be stalked by me for impressions?

I’m considering renting or picking it up myself. It’s not coming out the weekend I thought it was so I’m not as busy. Could play a little on Friday and then dive in on Sunday. Decisions...

Still my favorite video of the game, would love to just focus on one play style. Deciding which one will be tough though!!

I happen to have a ton of credit and no games I’m interested in for awhile, so I’m actually considering getting the gold edition. The problem is that it’s 10 bucks more to go physical, which is dumb. Not sure I’m brave enough for a digital purchase. Gonna wait for reviews on Monday

Reviews will be out Monday. I'll be curious. Any guesses as to metacritic average?

For reference, the Metacritic for AC: Origins was 81 -- at least on PS4, where most of the reviews were (it was 84 and 85 on PC and Xbox, respectively).

I'll guess 78 (PS4). I think it'll be down a couple points from Origins, because Origins seemed like a re-invention for the series, and this one won't feel so much like that. And I have doubts about how well they'll pull off the storytelling RPG aspects.

I hate to continue being such a downer but damn does that gameplay look goofy.

I feel like ubi's regressed in animation quality, which should be nonsense when for honor (another game with similar locked style of combat) looks so fluid.

Not to disparage anyone who won't, but I've settled on passing this one by.
