You're right. I didn't fact check.

This looks amazing. Smart they let COD keep doing futuristic s*** and they went to the past military. Will be a nice change of pace.

I hope now COD will make a upcoming game set in past military.

I'm more intrigued by the campaign. They swear that the it'll be more open to reflect the multiplayer. I sincerely hope they're not over selling it because their last campaigns have been s***.

I used to make jokes about games going backwards from WW2 to this one. Hell, I remember a lot of those. "You'd shoot and throw s*** at the other trench and maybe 22 hours later be forced to run across no mans land, queue end of game."

It does look interesting, but I wonder why the industry stayed in WW2 and modern conflicts for so long and only had a small sci fi stint before apparently giving up and going right back to the garands and krauts.
Does no one else remember how badly we wanted to get out of WW2 shooters? It's part of why the first modern warfare was so well received and World at War was a footnote alongside it. But I'm rambling.

I don't care about any of that.

Real quality post from you in this thread. You can't even make a post without resorting to your console war mentality. That is what I'm getting at.
All you are doing in this thread right now is antagonizing.
Its being REALISTIC about its specs not console wars.
If it was console war talk id talk about XBO lack of quality exclusives, bad UI or poor versions of 3rd party games.

PS4 version will sell BY FAR the most no matter how much they try and shove the worse version down our throats.

As a former owner of Xbox dOne I have witnessed its 720pness aka lack of power 1st hand and I can guarantee that wasn't running on Xbox dOne. But some do much reaching for the clouds and believe whatever they are told.

That didn't take long.

Lets get back on topic PLEASE!

ON TOPIC!!!

I can't wait to fly one of those Bi-planes!
Also wonder how they are going to do mustard gas as it is pretty much something that hung over the battlefields of WW1 for days.

Perhaps you can use it as a tactic and surround a flag in mustard gas and only those who equipped the gas mask or have the gas mask wearing class can compete for the flag. That could be pretty cool.

Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty Infinite. Are they intentionally mocking each other?

From what I am hearing, the visuals shown in the trailer are representative of actual game-play. So, I would assume it looks great, but a little below what the trailer shows.

Also the Battleships are actually usable and can lay waste to the shoreline.

The Single player is also going to be more like the multiplayer, with Air, Land and sea battles being a big part of it, and the levels are much larger in scale, supposedly. So less COD-esque single player and perhaps more Bad Company-esque instead.

someone needs to sit down before they embarrass themselves further

Battlefield 1's Multiplayer Reemphasizes Land, Air, and Sea Combat With Swords and Battleships
DICE revealed Battlefield 1 today, confirming an earlier leak that said it will take place during World War 1. At a behind-closed-doors event, the developer further detailed the sandbox combat in the game's 64-player multiplayer battles

"It's important to pay attention to the world," lead designer Danny Berlin said. "There's that rock-paper-scissor combat Battlefield is known for. With land, air, and sea, that stretches into even more possibilities this time around."

"Land, air, and sea" means biplanes, triplanes, battleships, and an expansive arsenal of handheld weapons as well.

"There's this common misconception that World War I was just muskets or something," Berlin said, laughing. "But it wasn't. It was a time of new weapons--bolt-action rifles, automatic rifles, semi-automatic rifles. The freedom we have is massive."

There's also a stronger focus on melee combat, Berlin said. In fact, DICE designed the hand-to-hand combat from the ground up for Battlefield 1, complete with a bayonet-charge ability, sabers, trench clubs, and even shovels.

As for how DICE is using the time period to further the game's mechanics, Berlin said the period is rife with new technology.

"This was the first time ever that people saw light tanks, heavy tanks, armored trucks," he said. "If you pop your head up from a trench and see a tank about to roll over you--you should get out of there."

Battlefield 1's air combat will be just as nuanced, with dogfights, bombing raids, and strafing runs.

"We have bombers to clear the way for your troops," he said. "If you're in a bomber, you might want to have a buddy scouting, covering you from the ground.

"You can have these dogfights, with multiple people in planes--your buddy is in the rear seat shooting back at that guy while you fly alongside a bomber clearing the way for your troops."

Battleships are also entirely controllable. You can "demolish an entire shoreline" in one, Berlin said. Battlefield 1 will also include lighter, more agile ships to reflect the dynamism present in the infantry combat and air battles.

These battles will play out on hills, wide fields, and, of course, trenches. Berlin was also quick to stress that the environments will be taken from around the world, in small towns and villages in the deserts of Arabia, the Italian Alps, and more.

All in all, Berlin said DICE is aiming to make use of the World War I era, complete with all of the new technology soldiers saw during the era, to further the "Battlefield flavor" the series is known for.

EA and Origin Access subscribers will be able to play Battlefield 1 on Oct. 18, followed by the game's full release on October 21 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

I mean, they showed it in the trailer. Stuff crumbling. Holes appearing. Etc.

Yeah but that was in Engine. I meant actual Gameplay in real time. These days when it comes to devs, til I see it for myself in real time, I take everything with a grain of salt.

Good all around vibes from this trailer. Can't wait to crash a plane into a group of snipers, then parachute in and stab the rest.

Is it just me, or does it sound as though they have finally broken up the classes again? I hope so. The days of specific classes were better.

It does. The classes of modern BF games are simplified, yet logical in sense. I never liked the idea of 3 classes being able to destroy armor though. I do want to know more, because if they're taking it back completely then it might be a little off putting to new fans of recent games.

However, with this being WWI, I can see a completely separate class system.

I so hope they are taking it back. The days when we had Assault, Medic, Anti-Tank(my favourite), engineer, support, recon and spec-ops were awesome. You had specialized roles and had to play them. It also made each class more valuable on the battlefield.

We'll see. I'm down for either, but the more logical approach would be the separate class system.

Yeah cause it will look like that on XBO.

I didn't say that it will. Nor do I think that it will.

I think everyone knows that it will be 720p etc..

You already moved on from the hardware. Maybe it's time to move on from struggle?

Trailer looked cool, but it's a PR trailer with renders. The final game won't look like that. The usual EA trailer.

But it gets the point across. I'm sold. I love old era WW games. Had enough modern era stuff.

The only thing that looked cheesy were the guys horseback riding with swords.

Yeah. This fall will have a good mix of settings.... finally. Enough of devs copying each other

BF 1 = WW
CoD: Infinite = Space
CoD: Remaster = classic modern style

No overlap.

Throw in Gears which is futuristic, has aliens, gore, third person and cover shooter, and it's a great mix.

And early next year, Titanfall 2 which is fast paced with mechs.
