Can You Trust Journalists

As Wolf said. Sony AND Square have it blocked, as per the article:

"In this case, Square Enix liked PlayStation’s offer best"

More than likely, Sony required it to be exclusive with their offer, because as stated in the article:

"Yoshida says CBUIII wants as many people worldwide to play the game as possible."

But Square is the one with the obligation to Xbox owners. Sony has no obligation to them just like Microsoft has none to PS with deciding to make the games they bought exclusive.

That is how you know its all console war nonsense. If it wasn't Square would be getting the majority of the heat from people that think its a bad thing. But if we did that how are we going to pretend Sony or MS are the good guys and the other the bad buys?

They weren't Xbox games at the time of signing lol. They are only considered Xbox games now because of the acquisitions. More fan to fuel the war. Sony paid for these deals remember and at the time they were a major third party publisher. More semantic BS.

Yep Sony never does that. If they got the rights to something that was announced for Xbox it would come to Xbox... also Sony trying to keep another 3rd party game off Xbox.

They should bring up the timed exclusivity for Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo. More evidence that MS honors contracts with Sony.

I don't think the issue is about them honoring contracts. Sony isn't even making that claim.

They both do it. See Indiana Jones game, Redfall, Starfield. MS is paying big bucks to keep PlayStation off now while Sony does the same with Square Enix but for smaller bucks. The diff here was Bethesda was planning to already put the games on PS then was told last minute by MS to not do that. Sony signed the deal when these games were at the conception stages. Both end results are the same through different means and timeline.

No difference then as Sony does that to.

The difference is MS actually owns those games and the company now.

But these deals were signed before that. So MS had nothing to do with them. Just because they own them now doesn't mean anything regarding those deals unless MS wanted to break those contracts.

Didn’t someone at square in an interview state that ff16 was originally planned and in development for ps4 and xbox one, and then development moved over to include next gen platforms?

They aren't the same thing. You know I hate these 3rd party deals but apparently Square likes to make them. Sony didn't buy Square and cancel games that were already being made for xbox. Let's not pretend MS couldn't outbid Sony on every one of these deals if they wanted to and it'd be cheaper for them to do that.

The real reason they are buying publishers is because they need a constant stream of content for gamepass.

Spencer just said Sony uses the money it makes off Xbox games on PS to block other games from Xbox. Sony's dirty dealings are coming out and showing why they didn't want this to go to court.
Jim Ryan could fly around the world to try and block the deal but not the actual court case.

LOL That's what happens when you sell games on other platforms, like MS doesn't get money from MLB The Show or Destiny.

No deals would have been in place at that time. MS would have had to honour them.

So basically no deal was reached for Starfield exclusivity and that this was just put out to shine Sony in a worse light for this case.

With no exclusivity deal, this meant that these games were supposed to go on both platforms until MS took that down as soon as they came in.

MS confirmed Sony was trying to get it exclusive to PS. Phil didn't even say timed just said Sony wanted it off Xbox.

Does Sony and MS know ahead of time if the other is trying to get it exclusive off the other platform? It was probably in the talks depending if Sony pays up but MS decided to open up their wallet first.

It was confirmed. In court. Sony trying to buy Starfield and keep it off Xbox was the main reason they finally bought Zenimax and Bethesda. Its what made them say they needed to start taking action.

So instead of just buying Starfield they decided to buy the whole damn publisher 🤣

I don't think that was the final push that did it though . MS just weren't getting enough quality and new IPs out from XGS compared to Sony . Just look at last gen. They got slaughtered and it showed in the disparity of sales between the PS4 and X1. So they decided to just make major third party platform games their "first party" and at the same time remove access from their main competitor.

Yes Microsoft bought a publisher because Sony was going to get a timed exclusive of one game

This forum is good at spotting Sony BS but somehow very bad at spotting Microsoft BS.

Reading is hard it seems..

Or are you pretending not to read the MS/Activision topic Dried while all of Sony's s***ty tactics are being laid bare?
