So I enjoyed the game more then I thought I would last night but at the end of the night I was so angry. I had a random level 11 join me right away and he did some missions with me and was a huge help. I got to level 5 and he left. All that was available was level 7 or higher missions. I went into the sword one and died probably 10 times before I shut the game off, I was so frustrated! 2 Swipes from that guy and I was dead and I barely did any damage every time I hit him.

Why is there no missions available that are my level? Any tips on this mission or what I should do? Do I need to replay older missions so I can rank up more before trying any of these level 7 and higher missions and can you even replay missions and get the same amount of XP? Lastly if I hop into MP and do a few death matches or something will that rank me up for the campaign?

Sorry for all the questions but I was so frustrated and I want to like this game, I had a good time playing with the random dude but if its going to be like this when I go solo then no thanks. I really don't want to replay missions to rank up, I want to keep moving forward in the game. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Got some help on Neogaf, looks like I need to go back to earth and do some Patrol missions (which I was not even aware of) and maybe play some PvP so I can rank up and then tackle these higher ones.

That's the reason why I have not played this game. I'm worried that it is a leveling treadmill. Is your level 7 guy going to get ganked in PvP?

I would think that there is some sort of rank matchmaking in PvP right? Other wise it'll be a total sh!t show...

Yeah PATROL Missions. Sometimes its a bit grinding and then something cool will happen. Have you fought the Walker yet? Stay in a patrol for a few missions...

Not sure what the Walker is yet so probably not, work needs to hurry up so I can get home!

Sorry if this is a dumb question but I felt a little overwhelmed when at the tower, there was just to many people to talk to and I wanted to go play, is there anything important I should be doing there often?

I set a couple bounties but not sure what some of them meant so I need to look into that more and read some messages, thats about it.

pffft...I have prestiged 3 times in COD, and rank one's still kick my ass :(

Yes but from what I understand it all scales to a neutral field for Damage.

Okay then, that's not so bad. I thought it was all lvl specific. I was gonna say that'd be no fun. I tried the PvP in the beta and it wasnt my cup of tea :(

Do you get new weapons in PvP? I am not crazy about my weapons right now, need to do some ranking up tonight and find some better weapons.

First, go to the Tower and get some Bounties going. Black Bounties are for the PvE, Red are for the Crucible(PvP). The reason you always want to have Bounties active is because you gain a large amount of XP when you complete them. There is a small green bar at the bottom of each bounty that gives you an idea of how close you are to completing it. Second, look at your planet map and see if you have completed all the Story missions for that planet. Third, do the Strike mission for each planet. Also, when you complete the Story missions for a planet, the next planet will have Story missions available for your level. Ive been completing a planets Story missions, then moving on to the next planet to level instead of attempting a Strike mission before Ive reached the recommended level. Ive found that there is always a new mission available for your level. I haven't even touched the Crucible, because you don't need to just to gain levels. Ive only been doing Patrol/Explore missions to complete bounties.

Also, we are in the same clan, feel free to invite me to your fireteam. Im more than happy to help you.:)

I just sent you a friend request.

Do pvp. You get xp, and gear while doing it. Plus the early bounties for pvp are easy and will give you some much needed xp early.

Oh yeah...use the scout or pulse rifle, nothing else.

Yeah, though like anyone who has played sinful amounts of PSO, this game kinda has managed to make grinding seem OK.
Believe it or not, grinding is usually something I like doing in games. Especially JRPGs, but I think it'll be ok in this game too.

I got a nice pulse rifle last night, I like the full auto upgrade, still shoots in bursts but nice being able to hold down the trigger. probably my favorite gun so far, its a green level 6 but does like 91 damage.

Got to a level 10 last night, did a little PvP and then a couple missions with 2 friends, good times

Need some help or I don't understand, I have played the mission The Dark within and finished it by killing the wizard and a message comes up and says the mission is ending and then counts down. I return to orbit and then I can see what I received in the way of perks for that mission. When I select set destination and go the map and the mission is still there like I never did it, so I ran through it again and killed the wizard again and message said mission is ending, back to orbit, select set destination and map comes up and the mission I played is still there even though I completed it 2 times. Can someone explain this to me, I don't understand this or not sure what is happening or what I need to do. Thanks.

Im not positive, as I have never returned to orbit before the countdown ended, but you are supposed to let the countdown end the mission, not go to orbit manually.

Not saying the scout & pulse rifles are bad, but I prefer and can tear up ass with an auto rifle.

I have a question. I'm a level 5 right now and, tonight when I get home to play the game, I would like to try to find someone to play with around my level. How should I go about doing this?

Right now I think my best bet is to play single player and keep going back to the tower after every mission. Here I will look for any players of similar level, run up to them, and add them to my friends list.

Is this the most effective way?

The PvP feels like it should have came out around 2004. How can people keep playing the same game for ten to fifteen years?! It boggles my mind that people are that averse to new experiences.
