Ok, so this is my biggest gripe with the game. Once you reach level 20 you finally have a chance to get some legendary and exotic weapons and armour but the current system to get it just sucks ass.
First the Vanguard vendor: you need to be rank 2 to get armour and rank 3 to get weapons. Patrols and bounties are the only way to get your rank up and you are limited to 6 bounties a day. With the rep for patrols being very low for the time you spend on them, this seems like a very artificial way to keep people grinding for weapons.
Then we have the vanguard marks. You can either earn these or earn rank, but not really both at the same time. Strikes do add some rep rank but it's so small it's laughable. Another silly artificial game extender here. Weapons are around the 120 price and armor is around the 70 price. The most game will allow you to earn in one week is 100 marks. So not even enough for one weapon a week even if you can play enough to get 100 marks? Seriously Bungie? What kind of cheap design is this?
Second, the random drops. This system is just the f***ing worst. Blue drops are rare, legendary drops are nearly non existent. When they do drop, you should be guaranteed a blue or greater from blue but especially a legendary from a legendary drop. But no, you only get a chance of getting a blue piece from a blue drop and the same from a legendary when you bring them to the cryptarch. This is very frustrating. When you spend hours playing within the limitations of my first point, finally get a legendary drop, bring it to the vendor, and be given a standard uncommon weapon for a level 16 character it's nearly a rage quitting moment. I cannot for the life of me understand this mechanic. If Bungie want people to play for loot, then need to actually award people with loot! On top of all this, you also have a high chance of getting loot for a different character, and in the case of Srtike missions, being awarded no loot at all (which happened to me 3 times)!
The whole thing is half assed in design and will actually do more to push me away from continued play than suck me in for more.
Get your s*** together and sort this out please, Bungie.
