Official Thread Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I completed the mission from Jensen's Stories. Why this mission wasn't part of the main story is a mystery. I take it that the developers had no time to include the mission into the main story before the development deadline.
I haven't finished yet or done the extra mission, but I doubt too little dev time was the reason it was separated. It was announced as a preorder bonus a while back, and was ready to download with the full game.

More likely they felt the need to have some kind of preorder bonus, so they extracted it from the main game. Devs need to get past this - I've never bought a game based on preorder bonuses.

Just completed the game. I am assuming future DLC will wrap things up because the game ended so suddenly. The bossfight lasted 20 seconds and bam, you are back at your apartment. Make sure you stick around for the credits to roll to see a cut scene.

20 seconds? Wow. I think it was four minutes before I was even spotted by anything, and I didn't get to actual fighting until a minute or two later - basically a stealth player looking around for something that could help out because I knew I was going to get tore up otherwise. Thank goodness for my probably 16 hypostims by then. :)

I actually liked this ending quite a bit - having Eliza sum up some of the things that have happened in the game world because of your actions seems like a nice touch (borrowed from Fallout and others, true). I wonder if the scene inside the credits would play out differently if your decisions aligned with different factions - I'll have to play through again to find out I guess, though I'm sure I'm googling it in a few minutes. ;)

Of course, my enduring memory of this game I presume will be that my five year old came out to the living room and watched me play through the last hour or so and after crawling through a duct (in his words, "going in a tunnel!") I came out into a dark room and he shouted "PEEKABOO!"). I admit I crawled back and forth there a few more times than necessary to relive that. :)

They really took the AI to new levels with this game.

I saw the vid you posted the other night. Solidrev is great.

That's not bad AI. The npc's are just really afraid of the protagonist and are acting like they don't see him. It's actually super realistic.

All it took was one EMP nade to render Viktor powerless before I rushed him and knocked him out cold. It was that easy.

I'm gonna circle back to this game after winter steam sale. Loved the last one. Is stealth too easy with remote hacking now?

But there are like lasers, and such. Y'all guys with your fancy grenades have at it, I'm gonna go hide in a vent or something and hope he passes out from fart inhalation.

Finally started the game. Since I played the previous game, so I get going pretty fast.
Awesome so far. Just reached Plague.

I was planning on getting this but I found the demo to be horrible. The voice acting was the worst and the graphics didn't impress at all.
Is the final game that much different? Might buy it on sale.

For some reasons, Deus Ex games are lacking in visuals & character animations. Its not ugly by any means, but kinda short of expectation from an AAA studio, & sister studio that do Tomb raider. But its at least smooth so far. Some of the characters looks like they can pass off for 360 games.

I did not play the demo, but If you do not like the demo, or last Deus Ex game (Human revolution) I doubt you will like the full game. I know exactly what to expect, so I am happy so far.

Haha that's comedy gold.
On a serious note, I have a big back log of games and really want this game as I loved Deus Ex Human Revolution, so if I loved that game I should love this right?
It looks amazing and biting my lip holding off getting it.
I only played for like 2 hours max, & it feel just like HR, with improved visuals, & enhanced gameplay/upgrades. People who play further or complete may give a better more objective opinion., But I feel good & at home so far.

Oh yet, one major improve is reloading is very fast now. (average 4-7 sec on my PC) One of the fastest in an AAA game, so it encourage trying different approach.

I am super glad they do not go for the cheesy checkpoint single save file. Its still use old school PC style save any time (except in combat), any amount you want. All games should be like this.

By the way, how many play non lethal full steath? I know I am going full steath Pacifist, just like in HR

I went non-lethal, although I did at one point turn on friendly fire on a turret in one section so I kind of count that as a violation even if the game still gave me the achievement. I did do quite a few non-lethal takedowns, though. I'm just not good or patient enough to pull off full stealth every time I guess.

The think I like is, you always have choices. This is charm of the game.

Definitely. The best gauge of that is that I saw someone playing it on Youtube who was also going stealth (which was, after all, my intent) and there were times I was thinking "How did he miss that?" and then other times where I was like "D'oh! How'd I miss that?" It's quite a bit like the original in that regard, and it's wonderful.

I'm really loving it myself. I would say depends on your backlog - are they games you really want to play? This can wait, since it's SP only, so you'll likely grab it on sale in a few months.

I didn't have anything exciting in my backlog, so I wanted this day 1. Plus there's so many games coming up soon that I want, it would be hard to fit in!

I bit the bullet and got it lol. I LOVED the last game so really excited for this one. So many games I have held off on lately (MGS, Quantum Break, Doom etc) that I will wait until I have got through a few more titles in my backlog.
Thanks again for the impressions guys, will get stuck into this tomorrow

What a downer, Internet down at home for 24 hours ( so far) , & u couldn't even play the game. Steam said I need to go online before I go offline first!!!! If I can go online, then I wouldn't need to go offline right!!!!

Even my phone only get 3G max, which I used to type this message. If things did not improve, I am calling tech support.

When given a choice I always go non lethal in games.

The fast quick save and load are great and fast. It's actually pretty massive for me, as I can trying possibilities without waiting.

This is one of the few games I play with both mouse/keyboard and gamepad.

It just faster to bring up and navigate inventory , maps and switch weapons. Beside, my 360 controller is on last leg. The shoulder buttons are Stiffie wonder now.

I was pondering to get a 360 controller again or get the X1 controller.

LOVING this game. Just as good as the last imo. I love just searching around trying to find stuff and other ways of approaching a mission, looking for hidden pathways etc
Also the combat and augs are fantastic. Trying to use a stealth approach and going well so far.

There is an occasion I am force to use lethal weapons, to gunning down Drones to save some sewers dudes. I hope this is exception. I ran out of bullets downing the drones as I did not load up on standard bullets

Hacking still a Pain in the ass, if you do not upgrade enough points to hacking upgrades

By the time I actually had to do anything with drones, I had the full remote hacking aug path unlocked, so it was always just a matter of hiding and using smart vision to find drones/cameras/turrets and disabling them. I got the hacking stuff upgraded pretty much from the beginning, though, since that's always been my Deus Ex playstyle - if it can be hacked, I'm hacking it, even if I have the code (mostly for the XP/rewards, though I pretend it's because I don't want to implicate the people I stole the code from). ;)

The things I kind of regret waiting for were the leg augmentations and the ones that let you punch through walls and move heavy objects. Those would have been immensely useful earlier, from what I've seen since. But one of the great things is that even though most of us in the thread did/are going the stealth route, even that has so many different possibilities that our aug upgrade paths and playthroughs are still probably pretty varied.
