DF Face Off: Resident Evil Revelations 2

Why the Xbox One version is solid?
Is the game good though?

While the lolz in me would love to believe it's because of the 16xAF being a burden on the PS4, it's clearly just a bad port.

No DX12 magic here, this is a DX9 game on PC, so likely the same on consoles. Maybe that is where they had trouble porting to PS4?

Fan of everything, just randomly in here fighting the good fight for a neutral cause.

MS fans this, MS fans that. lol

Those weird baseless, often times completely made-up generalizations you toss into every post aren't helping. You also seem to be the only person in the thread taking any of this seriously.

Just sayin'

Who's making up generalizations? I'm not saying all MS fans. I'm specifically addressing those like K that as usual, try to instigate crap against another set of "fans".

again, I've never bashed the xbox, nor have I ever bashed gamers for being fans of the xbox brand. Never.

And no, I'm not taking it seriously. I'm just addressing all the attacks I'm getting.

I didn't instigate anything. I was just preemptive. It's no different than PV beating me to the punch about money hatting parity. It's all in predictable fun. Why you choose to bite and drag it on making it out to be more than it is, is beyond me.

But I am surprised it's usually you getting worked up.

Just calm down my friend :).

I have no interest in the game but I am intrigued by the DF articles. Even when dried mangoes doesn't post them. :)

VaLLiancE this what was posted, in answer to your question.

Given those two pictures, if anything they should be reversed. The system that has the biggest user base typically has the most commitment from devs into supporting that platform as they follow the sales.

So a big team of PS4 development still lost to a game with a pared back X1 dev team.

Also, from what I read, Sony also funded RE.

I could watch her move her face all day long....

I can't believe they didn't fix and optimize this problem. There is no way they couldn't have found the issue with a frame rate drop like that.

Is this platform racism?..

I would have thought Flynn would have created this thread.

anyway good for xbox owners.

" Revelations 2 isn't a bad experience but its lower budget is definitely reflected in its visuals. "

Lower budget pretty much explains everything. Probably devoted more time to optimize for the Xbox since it's more trickier to develop for.

So visually its a tad bit better on the PS4.

Where does it say this? I read the article and couldn't find DF saying that. The only thing I could see was it was slightly darker, but that's an easy fix.

From the article:

Worse still, the PlayStation 4 version of the game appears to use lower resolution specular maps compared to the PC and Xbox One releases.

To start, we were at least happy to see a full 1920x1080 presentation on both new consoles, albeit with a rather basic FXAA implementation handling anti-aliasing duties. Capcom's FXAA implementation produces relatively clean edges but also suffers from mild texture blurring on distant surfaces. Both versions also make use of what appears to be full 16x anisotropic filtering with sharp, clean textures visible at any angle. With so many flat surfaces throughout the game, this feature is a must and we're glad to see that Capcom has implemented it.
Things are a tad disappointing on the PC side, with max settings providing a broadly equivalent experience to the Xbox One and PS4 titles

Not to mention performance advantage.

Watched Maximilian Dood play this last night and he was mentioning the PC and PS4 issues which is why he went with the Xbox version. Game looks very Evil Within at least at the beginning.

Japanese developers don't seem to optimize their games very well across different platforms.

Thats why you see poor PC ports almost everytime. And Xbox One games like Konami's PES that run at 720P when their competitors have better looking games that run at higher resolutions.

Aside from the bad grammar :tounge: in this post, the bolded part doesn't make sense.

What I meant is, more time was spent on the Xbox version to optimize probably because the architecture is more complex to code for.

I remember ps3 got that same extra optimization and it never worked out as well as this faceoff.

It did?

So what are you implying?

I just remember devs taking a lot of extra time to code for ps3 and it barely worked out for them, in some cases it was a trade off still but usually 360 would win. So assuming that's true in this case, why is this a blowout faceoff in favor of xbox one in its 2nd year? ps3 had years to pull it off and never did in this fashion.

Well, for one, the architecture is closer this time around compared to the PS3 and 360 days. Maybe that plays a factor.

Secondly, this is a lower budget title. So obviously the resources would not be spread equally amongst the platforms although that would be optimal.

I think a better explanation is that whoever got tasked with the PS4 version wasn't as talented as the guy that worked on the X1 version.
