Shpeshal Nick from Xbox Era Podcast claims that he's heard there are plans for a Series X console without the disc drive. There are also plans for other hardware in 2025.

Said it ages ago that that's what the S should have been as they would have been able to sell it at a cheaper price.

It would probably look the same, maybe just fill that disc slit with RGB? Would keep cost down.
