Elder Scrolls: Amalur Edition

Elder Scrolls: Amalur Edition

Oh my god....that's it. As I was playing, I kept telling myself that it felt like a deeper version of some game, and couldn't put my finger on it.....and that's it...amalur.

So I finally got around to trying it. Better than I thought it'd be. How does one start crafting alchemy?

Yeah, it was certainly better than I expected. It's not a bad game at all. It plays well, it looks good, and has that old school mmo feel to it. I've seen people give kudos to crappier non-mmo RPGs than they do to this. I think they let the idea of a monthly fee cloud their judgment.

With that said, I don't think it's enough for me to plop down a monthly fee, but I'll hate on the fee itself, not the game, since the game isn't bad.

Man i have to admit it feels too outdated ... I won't be paying for this that's for sure

I don't mind it feeling old....I just mind the price tag.

I like it feeling old. All of these new mmos trying "new" is what makes them fail. They lose sight of what makes an mmo good.

To be honest i am desperately looking for that Next-Gen feeling in games and so far Destiny and the Division have spiked my interest. Having read and listened to eveything about Destiny like the open-world aspect, seamless exploration to planets in the solar system, having ur own ship that is customizable like Mass Effect promised but didn't quite deliver.

Heck i just want a game in wich i can get in my ship from earth fly it myself to another planet meet some buddy and start killing or doing whatever can be done in-game and see it all happen seamlessly. PS i know bungie said the game won't have space flight but they've done it in Halo:Reach so who knows they are keeping it as a big surprise. Anyway i went a bit off topic there .....

I like good old school games but DAMN i want to play a game again soon and feel like the first time i felt playing GTA on PS2 or Metal Gear Solid. Can you guys remenber how long it's being feeling like that?!

Well, that's encouraging. Let us know if your impression changes.

I'll be play for a few hours today. Anyone want to group up? I'm level 4 wood elf on the yellow team (forget the name). My profile name is Jay_Nova if you want to add me.

Really? Always wanted to try out myself.

Oh yeah. I'm a star wars fan, so it was a must to give the game a shot. It has that KOTOR feel, but your character has a voice. Nice combat, fun quests and of course star wars timeline = always a good time. I recommend you try it out, play for free and if you like it then sub it.

I like swtor as well although it doesn't have the longevity (end-game) of a wow. The storytelling in ESO reminds me quite a bit of swtor. Last night I got to a point where you journey into the prophet's memory to uncover some history and backstory, and the whole thing was just really well done. I'm surprised at how much polish has been put on this game since the last beta I tried, a couple of months ago.

Well hopefully before too long the sub will be dropped. Seems like hearing some more positive reviews of it this time around on this site and a few others.

I had a lot of fun with it over the weekend. May actually get it come April.

had fun again this beta. To me it has that skyrim feel. Heck even the sounds in the interface are the same. Graphics and animations seem to have had a coat of polish applied since the last beta I was in a couple months ago. Some of the in-game cutscenes and scripted events seem to have been tightened up as well. In fact the scripting seems very well done, although it's a very limited sample. I remember being blown away by SWTOR weekends too, but after the game launched the lack of polish in the later game was evident. Hope this game doesn't have the same issue.

I liked it also and was relieved because I read more negatives about it for so long...it has problems, like freezing completly when you exit dialogue/crafting etc etc windows but overall,it was fun...I love how a lot of quests branch into each other and flow well...and the graphics on Ultra, are pretty good...looking forward to it...just waiting on the console pricing and to see the controller support on PC to decide if I get it on PS4 or PC...

Nice to hear the positive feedback. Big change from the last go-round.

The Elder Scrolls Online will not require a PlayStation Plus membership to play on PS4, ZeniMax Online Studios Game Director Matt Firor wrote in a PlayStation Blog update. Bethesda confirmed to Joystiq that the subscription-based MMORPG will require an Xbox Live Gold membership to play on Xbox One, however.

Bethesda was in talks with Microsoft to allow Xbox One owners to play the game online without the Live subscription in August. That was after Firor revealed the developer's decision to go with a monthly subscription for the game instead of moving to a free-to-play format. The Elder Scrolls Online will cost players $14.99 per month when it launches April 4 for PC and Mac with next-gen console versions following in June. The game was recently handed a Mature rating by the ESRB, to which Bethesda said it is "unwilling to change the game's content to achieve a different rating."

Surprised? I'm not. Can any retail game that uses online play ever be free to play on Xbox Live? I'm guessing no.
