No surprise and I wouldn't be surprised if they back track on this after low sales.

This is dildos.
Not like I was gonna buy it anyway though.

Attention every dev ever: Stop making MMO's.

Only reason I see the game flopping is because of the monthly payments. So do ppl have to pay $60 for a game disk and $15 a month to play the game? If the game was free to play it would be successful and I bet that's their backup plan if the game flops.

This has been known for awhile so this is not that big a deal. If you are the type of person who wants to play a MMO you are probably the type of person who already has Xbox Live/Playstation Plus.

Fixed!

Still though that's one thing that annoys me with MS, it's as if they just don't want MMOs on their system.

Not necessary. MMO is intend to play the game for a long time, maybe exclusively, so doesn't sound economically good to pay 2 separate monthly/annual fee if you play mainly one game online.

Also, maybe some people PC is not up to task, PS4 at $399 & free online (to play Elder scroll), & the possibility of maybe some good single player games to take a break from Elder scroll, once in a while, sound like good deal for some people if you ask me.

I am not sure how influence is the game, but its good news for many PS4 owners not intending to get PS+ no matter how you see it. Even if you are not interested, its always good to know when you are, you do not have to pay PS* on top of monthly fee for Elder scroll online.

If the game did sold well, I will not be surprise to see MS allowing xbox silver account holder to play MMO, & maybe future MMOs as well.

This is actually fooked up. I 'm not one for complaining about buying Gold, but damn. You have to pay for the game, then live, and then a monthly subscription on top. f*** THAT!

My guess is the overlap of people who are willing to spending $14.99 for one game and their willingness to pony up for the online fee to play other games is far greater than any of the scenarios you painted.

The solo player is more apt to skip the MMO altogether and wait fore the single player game if they are so against paying for the online fee for a console.

And the person looking for upgrade is committed to spend hundreds of dollars for a console, but balks at online fee? That seems a like a very narrow category of consumer.

Maybe an idea is for gold member to pay less sub fee, compare to non gold member, & MS & Bethesa can discuss how to split the money from the gold members.

WIN:WIN for gamers, MS & Bethesa if you ask me.

Man.... and I was planning on getting rid of Xbox live when I got this game.

Doesn't seem like much of an issue to me. Why would you buy an Xbox One and not sub to Xbox Live? Maybe if Elder Scrolls Online was an X1 exclusive then it would matter.

A few hundred is still cheaper than a new PC, & give you the chance to play some games you may not even able to play on PC, as icing on the cake. Maybe in the end, its a few, maybe quite significant, but its hard to knock Sony for the decision.

At the minimal, they score PR points.

You think this way, because you, like me (not so much this days), & people in this forum, are more hardcore.

Its obviously not an issue, with you, me, or majority of people here, but most gamers do not own live, last gen last least.

Last figure I check is 40 million Live subscribers, but this include both gold & silver. There are over 80 millions xbox 360 sold, so you can make an estimation on how much % actually pay for xbox Gold online service.

Easy fix, make this the free game of the month.
But there is still a matter of subscription fee. In any case, I do not think they should charge full retail price for MMO.

Who charge full amount for MMO these days?

Basically what i meant to say is if you're buying a console to only play an MMO you're doing it wrong. That's the whole point of a gaming PC. It's an MMO, RTS, and FPS platform at heart.

MMO is not big on console at the moment, this part is true. But the developers must have thought that there is a considerable market for MMO when they decided to make the game on console.

Before halo, FPS is not big on console as well, but see what happened. I will say, only time will tell.

While I agree, with the console you get a much better cost/performance ratio. For $400, you will be able to play ESO maxed out, where buying a PC that could do so would cost at least a few hundred more.

Well i'll put it this way. I've been playing Final Fantasy XI for 10 years. Started on PS2, moved to 360, and just this past year bought a gaming PC capable of running the game not like sh!t. I was always biased towards consoles and still am but the game is simply a night and day experience going from consoles to PC. I used to think PS2 graphics were acceptable. Then i thought 360 was a major upgrade.

Played it on PC for the first time on decent settings, which isn't saying much since it's a PS2 game basically but it's night and day. The PC experience is so much better overall for a game like an MMO. Large scale world with better graphics and draw distance, locked fps, Ventrilo, etc. I just don't understand why anyone with any knowledge would go out and pick up an Xbox One over a top end PC to play an MMO.

Just saying, it's not about graphics and all that but if your sole purpose of buying an X1 is to play Elder Scrolls Online then lol. If you have an X1 you probably already have Xbox Live gold or you bought it to watch Netflix or something. So it should really be a non issue for most people.

More brownie points for Sony i guess. That's their style early on this gen, point out every short coming of the Xbox One to make the PS4 sound more appealing. Like at E3 when they announced the PS4 could play used games before Microsoft reversed their DRM policies.

Imo the only thing that sucks about subscription FEE'd mmo's is the fact that a lot of them make you pay 60 bucks fo the box price as well. If they got rid of the 60 dollar box price it would be okay imo. I much prefer subscriptions over free to play bullsh*t with stupid microtransactions that ruin mmo's.

Sadly the console users are the worse when it comes to qq'n about paying monthly for mmo's. Maybe the most ignorant about mmo's in general as well.

It leaves the option open for someone who only plays ESO to not have to also pay for PS+. In the MMO world it is not uncommon for people to play only one game primarily.

Yep when I was playing World of Warcraft, I took about a 3 year break during 360 ERA. So that's a good point.

Yikes. It's no way I can afford to pay $60 + $14/12 months. That's $228 excluding coke and pizza.
