Elite Controller

I need one of these for project cars. So many car functions that need mapping, I think I unmapped the ignition once an stalled and couldn't get there car started. :(

Preordered. Looks like it will make lots of games easier to play. Yeah, it's pricey but I don't live a super-luxurious lifestyle and spend a lot less than I earn every month.

Yeah...i don't really understand why so many are shocked by the price....like they've never heard of three hundred dollar headphones for consoles.

I hate you guys... just preordered mine too. $169 CDN. I'm having a strong drink and trying not to think about it.

Truth be told, there was no way I wasn't getting this sexy beast.
Remember, you deserve this...

Would love to see this bundled with a game (like Halo 5 or Forza 6). Either way, I'm getting it. Controller is most important part of a console IMO.

I know I am shocked because the price is very high for a custom controller that really should have been available at launch. I feel like MSoft has had this design for a while and gave us the gimped version for The One pack in. I totally get gaming is an expensive hobby which I am ok with but I have purchased numerous controllers when the system launched and although I want this one it is bitter sweet after my initial investment.

But even if it was ready at launch, which I doubt it was, it would have raised the cost of the console by another $100 at least. How do you figure that would have been a smart move, considering the outcry over the $500 launch price??

Or do you think this uber controller should have just been thrown in for free somehow? This is not Oprah my friend.

Imagine if they had this controller for launch and sold Kinect separate. I bet the Xbox One would have sold a lot more. Xbox was already the go to shooter and racer console. The Elite controller would have put it over the top.

maybe, but it definitely would have sold more with neither of them and 100 bucks shaved off instead

Xbox One Elite Controller: Microsoft’s Secret E3 Weapon

"The current Xbox One controller isn’t broken, but many hardcore gamers seek more customization options and usability from third-party controller manufacturers. With the Xbox One Elite controller, Microsoft is offering this to players directly, and making it easier than ever to map the controller for different games. Combined with the sleeker look and comfortable feel, the customization ability of the Elite controller makes it a surprising choice for one of Gaming Illustrated’s Best of E3 2015 awards."

You can't pack in an expensive peripheral like that. Especially if it has niche appeal in the first place. Imagine having to replace one! Or needing to buy multiple controllers. Yeah, it's definitely better as a separate purchase.

I was a tad disappointed that neither MS or Sony thought to have back paddle buttons on the new generation, though. It seemed an easy natural evolution for a controller setup, imo. It'll be nice to have the "pro" set up with an actual decent build quality.

MS has a great fall lineup but this Elite Controller and BC are really my favorite announcements by any company during E3. Can't wait to play Halo and Forza with this thing.

Pretty sure we'll see a reduced price at Xmas. Maybe even a bundle of some sort. I'll for be adding this to my inventory. I've been needing a new controller for ages.

I can't imagine a price reduction less than 2 months after releasing it. Maybe a year from now, but wouldn't hold your breath. With the buzz around this, it's going to sell at or above MS's expectations.

I'm really temped to pre-order, as I'm sure Plainview is right, they will be hard to find at launch. I really don't want to buy one without trying out a demo model. I'm sure I'll like it, but for that price I want to be sure I'll love it. Also, does anyone know how the longer thumbsticks compare with the Kontrol Freek extensions? It is hard to tell from the pictures, but they look similar. I have big hands and I like the really tall sticks.

One big plus is that in Forza now I will actually be able to use manual shifting along with a clutch. Using a clutch with only face buttons is really hard on a standard controller.

Yeah, you're probably right. It would have been an emphatic statement that Microsoft is all about the hardcore experience though. Oh well, i'm just glad they've turned it around since launch. Not that i had a problem with the initial reveal, but not all of us are rational gamers.

This to a tee. I have tried to be a wheel reader in past Forza's but could never beat my controller times. I always use manual shifting on the controller but w/o the clutch so these paddles on the Elite made my decision to preorder one a no brainer for Forza alone.

I love that everyone is super excited about this. I think that new dpad looks sexay!... But I don't think that this is entirely mainstream friendly.

And by that, I mean, it wont be packaged with a console as standard. Until I watched that video with the bloke explaining what the features were, I had no idea what the eff half of the things were.

One of the great things about console gaming is just picking up the controler, outing the game in and playing... Or at least it was until you needed patch 2.1.1.1000.3. :p

Re-mapping buttons? My brain hurts!

Ill probably end up getting one eventually... I finally started using my kinext/media remote. More importantly, my Kinect now understands an english/australian accent. :p

Bumpers?!!?? They aren't already on the control and I've never noticed them?

God I feel old.

(I also just spent $350 on a mouse and keyboard, and I have no idea why I need to have to have mechanical g keys that can be reprogrammed to the wazoo... But I don't want to NOT have them!)
