Embargo has been lifted. PlayStation 4 game reviews abound!

Well i think in Forza's case the AI is pretty innovative, if you have actually listened to ppl that talk about racing against these AI it seems to be awesome, and unlike anything we've seen, and those AI evolve over time.
I agree with everything else though, Ryse could end up being pure trash, but at least its beautiful and looks like something I would play through just to see, whereas Knack, I can't even begin to have interest in.

Killzone is beautiful. I think that in itself makes it a must-play game. That Killzone tech video was sweet. When they turned off the effects, the game looked like a current gen game. Killzone also has improved AI, seen a number of comments on the enemy flanking ability.
Ryse I would be more interested in if it had a better body damage system, and more varied enemy models. It may sound petty, but those are things that would make it 'next gen' for me. I see all this hacking n slashing, but never any slashing wounds on the bodies (possible I didnt' see it, I need glasses sometimes). And it would be cool to have these wounds dripping realtime bloodflow (lol). Also, kept seeing the same enemy character models like the main character was fighting an army of clones, with maybe 6-10 different models.

Ryse = Knack????? lol...are you serious bro? Forza 5 = Killzone WHAT!! Forza is a top notch franchise and Killzone is wanna be Halo killer. DR3 has got to be the most fun to play looking game I have seen of both consoles frame rate drops and all. The game looks really fun.

Ok there, fanboy. I can do what you do too...
Forza has always been a Gran Turismo wannabe. It's now a DLC money grab. Still doesn't have night racing or weather effects. Fail on next gen.
Killzone doesn't need to be a "Halo Killer". 343 did that with Halo4. And there's absolutely no question - Killzone Shadowfall is the best-looking next gen game so far.
Dead. Rising. Three. Is. A. Frame. Rate. Slide. Show.
Whether something is 'fun' is a matter of opinion. I never liked Dead Rising, but I do love Left4Deads and Dead Islands.

...bro.

a 5 for killzone from gies, why am in not surprised.

Because the internet hordes at GAF convinced you he was some sort of anti-PS4 pariah. Or...you just can't tolerate that anyone thinks differently than you about a game you've no played but they have. Strange that nobody is pitching a fit about the 9.5 score a PS publication gave it.

Lol well KZSF has a bunch of cloned helghast over and over(sure that's the story) but look at this video, the first two hostages are clones of each other too, possibly 3 but the last one has his back turned, but same exact hairstyle and color. Also in other vids were they show civilians in KZSF( I will find them if you want) those are clones too, even the same clothes. Not that this matters to me I could have pointed it when the video was posted, but I didn't. I just find it funny your ok fighting an army of clones in SF(not just story driven clones either) but its a problem in Ryse, which who knows there aren't any 100% final versions out of Ryse.

also the same goes for killzone's shooting, when someone gets shot it looks exactly like a current gen game to me, you can especially tell in the slow motion bits. The lighting and textures are dialed up, but that's expected.
I agree Ryse could have done more with the body physics or something idk what.

you sure have me pegged. i thought killzone 2 was boring and i didnt even play killzone 3. but to give a game a 5 essentially means its s***......

and you thinking he's not an anti ps4 pariah LOL

just stop, you already made yourself look silly these last few weeks.

Is that what Polygon's review scale says or your assumption based on your expectations?

He isn't. He got branded as one after the GAF hivemind reacted violently to his suggestion that X1 games would look as good as PS4 games and that the extra kit in X1 was there for good reason. He is actually quite reasonable.

Yeah sure did buddy. Nothing makes me look silly like being right about how launch games would look effectively identical on these consoles. Not sure how much longer I can endure the embarrassment.

I liked the shooting deaths in Soldier of Fortune too.

I like them in that and even Half life 2, but that's going really far back, they just felt really "punchy" but the body physics were a bit too aggressive

oh right the scale that never gives 1's but gives out multiple 9's, full scale my ass.

my opinion on him is bases solely from listening to him on his podcast, but sure blame it on gaf.

omitting everything you got wrong LOL

oh and predicting current gen port ups would look similar.... you must be f***ing nostradamus.

All the fanboyism aside. This is probably the most entertaining next-gen console launches in history. So many meltdowns, resolution differences, FPS issues, Day 1 Patches, etc....

Feelings are getting hurt right now.

So you assumed that 5 on their scale means it's absolutely s***. Their average score across all 286 games they have reviewed is 7/10. They are notably lower than most other reviewers out there so stop whining. There is no hidden agenda. Just a reviewer who doesn't care for the series or this particular iteration very much.

Mhmmm...sure it is. When he was on other podcasts everybody loved him. It was only until January that he didn't hop on board the X1 hate train when he suddenly became ostracized by the kool kidz. But hey, you cling to whatever justifications you need to convince yourself that

omitting everything you got wrong LOL

By all means make a list in the X1 hardware thread if ya like (or some otherwise appropriate thread).

Move dem goalposts brutha! If it was always oh so obvious why was I treated like a crazy person for expecting it since January in the face of the internet hivemind's mantra about "50% mo' pow4h!1!'? Or do we have another 'PotentialStation' on our hands? Shall we get the 'year of the PS4' chalkboard jpeg ready to go?

The dude sat like; 'Please don't be Killzone! Please don't be Killzone!' on Twitter - when he waited for the PS4 reveal imagery in february, and then there were Killzone. - He isn't the person Polygon should let review Killzone.

Especially if they want to project some sort of journalistic integrity, after they cashed in 750.000 US dollar from Microsoft for a non-existant(?) MS documentary about how much they contributed to games.

Sure, Polygon might be a gaming website - but my guess is that they're the kind of website wich is similar to those kind of financial magazines wich call up the companies and say for 5k-10k dollar they'll make a nice story about your company. And if you don't pay, the story get's less nice, or non-existant.

Xbox exlusives such as Gears of War: Judgement - 8 out of 10. And multiplatform titles such as Dead Space 3 get 9.5, and Diablo 3 and Bioshock Infinite get 10, Tomb Raider 9, Hitman, 8.5.
But titles asosciated to Playstation, allways get's slaughtered tough.
Really great game everywhere else - like Ni No Kuni (6.5 out of 10) - The Last of Us (7.5 out of 10), Dragon Crown (6), Soul Sacrifice 6.5, Killzone: Mercenary - undoubtly the best handheld FPS - 6, Puppeteer 6.

You can't be more harsh than Edge when scoring on Sony-platforms - and then turn around and suddenly become more forgiving than Famitsu on other- and multiplatform-titles. And not expect people not to think you have an agenda.. :-/

Actually, Forza took the sim racing crown a while ago. I still remember the cover from the first Forza. "Better than Gran Turismo". That hasnt changed in a long time.

KZ is gorgeous graphically but has ALWAYS suffered in gameplay. This new iteration is no different. And KZ is arguably the best looking next gen title in your opinion. However, if you listen to some of the previews and videos, many gaming sites say (quite bluntly I might add...) that RYSE is hands down the best looking next gen title of the new gen. Thats just goes along with what everyone else has been saying about it.

DR3 is technically impressive and looks to be loads of fun.Sure the frame rates suffer a bit (not sure if its the current build though) but its received its amount of hype on its own merits. Essentially, I'm betting the XO gets better scores all the way around Schultz mate. I know you won't agree but still you can quote me if you like. Just sayin....

I don't get it, people are acting like Killzone scored 5's across the board or something. It's obviously a good game, maybe not OMG GREAT but it's a good game and the reviews show that. There is nothing wrong with getting mostly 8's and tbh Ryse will be lucky to match it.

I think the problem with Killzone is that it seems to be all looks and no substance. If you ask me, Ryse will end up being the exact same. I won't be be picking up Killzone personally, but I'll probably borrow it at some point just to check it out.

The Meta score is a 74 as of now. With 70 being the most common score. As a flagship title for a new console I can definitely see the disappointment. However, I think when we take a game like KZ that has average scores and totally discount the game we really hurt the industry. What studios are going to green light any game that isn't a guaranteed hit if a game like KZ that has decent scores gets pilloried and ignored because it was just average. Go to any game section in any store and You'll see a total lack of variety in game genres compared to PS2 era.

I don't think it's a low score, just that it has got the lowest scores from where I actually listen to. If I was to buy PS4, that might have made me reconsider buying it, but buying it doesn't seem like a bad choice for early adoptors. And yes, it would be more than just good for Ryse to match an average of 74. Both are in the same seat.

It will sell well. PS4 launch doesn't have too many games. Plus, despite the reviews the Killzone fans will flock to it, and there be a few million of them.

It's KZ. I understand why Sony fans hang their hat on it. But overall the series wasn't exactly great for many. It'll do it's part in terms of units moved. But I mean come on, was anyone really expecting a blockbuster hit from Killzone?
