There are locations and chests you wouldn't even be able to reach without building

Getting on top of a building or mountain would become OP as hell
Yeah, the entire map would have to change. The best non builders can hope for is a limited materials mode.

Patch v4.3 gave us the following change...

"Turbo Build: Structures now build faster after the first building piece is placed.
Your first structure is built 0.15 seconds after holding the button (unchanged), any additional structures built while Turbo Building are placed after 0.05 seconds."

I'm still not sure if building prevents all bullets (from a single player) from getting through or if it's something like every 50th bullet from an SMG. Either way this change made defensive building insanely effective.

I think if they decreased max materials to 300 each (900 total) and slowed the rate you can build from .05 seconds to .20seconds, it would do the trick. That way you could still protect yourself somewhat when caught out in the open but you'd get tagged every few seconds and burn through materials at a costly rate.

The thing I like about building is it allows you to be aggressive. If they nerf materials I can see it becoming way more campy, which would suck.

Something really interesting is happening during this Summer Skirmish Series.

Long story short, this is an Epic run event with a massive prize pool so all these pros are playing ridiculously conservatively. So much so that the final circles are super densely populated. I'd say in a circle size that typically holds 8 players, we're seeing 25 to 30.

Game can't handle that many players in such a small space so the game is chugging hard. Some players literally couldn't move.

Epic is going to have to fix this.

Yeah that was a disaster.

not true because I played with other here and won

But the solo Victory Royale is the purest of them all. It's the only one that truly matters.

Welcome to the club.

"Fortnite Has An ESports Problem That's Going To Be Tough To Solve"

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.fo...problem-thats-going-to-be-tough-to-solve/amp/

I think one of the problem with games journalism is the fact that these writers have to pump out so much content and need to get clicks. I can't see anyone with a basic understanding of Fortnite, believe the problems that arose last weekend are actually tough to solve.

Fortnite seems like it would be a pretty boring esports game so none of that is surprising.

How so? What makes a good ESport?

For much of what that article talks about. Its no surprise that people would play super conservative and it would be boring. A game being played at its highest level shouldn't be more boring than a game being played at its most casual.

I spend most of my time on the outskirts avoiding people. I wouldn't want to watch me play though.

You do realize how camera work in just about all sports behaves right? You wouldn't expect the camera to follow Christiano Ronaldo at all times during the World Cup would you?

The article is so poorly concieved.

They are mainly complaining about the same thing you talked about on the last page

The fact that they are doing tournaments that are just players pubstomping and was won a by a PS4 player using K/M (and possibly cheating) just shows how trash Fortnite esports is

Yeah but how so? Can you unpack that at all? Why was the structure of yesterday's tournament inherently bad? Come on give us something. You can do it.

Epic says they investigated it and that he didn't cheat. They said every kill was on a different opponnent. KB/M is completely legal in their opinion also even though they think he was using a controller.

The whole thing did seem a little fishy. I think if you commit to playing on console for the tournament you should be required to use a controller.

I can't wait for next years NBA finals where the Warriors and Celtics see who can score more points against a high school team. Oh and nobody will be able to watch to confirm the score.

Well, yesterdays event wasn't the equivalent of the NBA Finals.

You're probably unaware, but one of the most interesting aspects of what Epic is doing is changing the format and rules all the time. This allows us to watch high level Fortnite play under a variety of settings and gives Epic the chance to see what works and what doesn't. The NBA makes significant rule changes every few years for the health of their product. Epic does it every week.

Also, Epic "watched to confirm the score".

Either way, you're talking about Fortnite ESports. That's kind of proof enough that it's working right?
