Well it was supposed to be MP only game, so it made more sense.
I know the headline I saw about it said it was to prevent cheating, not sure how rampant cheating is in a GT game but it seems odd that it has to be online if you are playing single player.

I think they mean cheating in SP. The MP stuff is all online already.

I get that but how does cheating in single player hurt anyone? is it a stats comparison thing?
Was thinking about it whilst on the throne lol and I guess it would. What ever the cheat/exploit or hack that may be used during the SP may lead to better cars, credits to advance further in MP but then again, if someone just friended through then it’s kinda the same thing.

I understand if it something allowed them to mine credits or mods that would give you some kind of boost to win a race in progress. But I dono, what are they thinking. Wish they’d be more upfront and transparent

No idea.

With how the online is set up any SP cheating shouldn't make any difference. I guess the only place it could is if they can manipulate lap times and screw up the leaderboard.

I doubt it really has anything to do with cheating. Only way that even makes sense is if they think offline cheating can help them win online. Otherwise, always online is usually for selling stuff in games.

Because it is Sony and not someone else, people just accept it. Yet again the double standard pops up. Good thing it is only something I imagine in my head and not a real thing. ;)

Haven't many already accepted the always online debate thing a while ago with the Xbox doing it first? Lots of people (myself included) at this day and age have always played with their consoles connected to the internet. So unless you're planning to bring your console on a trip somewhere remote (which why would you in the first place), don't see this as a big issue for most.

Countries where they can’t afford to do so? I wonder if they can tether their phones to it, I think someone once did.

Would have thought they would be doing more marketing for this at this point.

Well, I agree there is a lack of marketing. But I think GT sells itself and the market already knows that it's there. But damn it seems like March is forever away.

They're not marketing these because the best versions of these games, the PS5 version, most people can't get ahold of a PS5 console.
