No Sony doesn't own Spider-Man although they do own the film rights, the point is Marvel went to xbox first and they declined to make a Marvel game. A lot of xbox only fans continue to bring up Spider-Man as an example of Sony taking away a multiplatform game. The fact is that series was made by Activision, they lost the license a long time ago and then Marvel went to Xbox to make a deal and they declined so they went to Sony who were smart enough to not only take them up on the offer but sign Insomniac to make the game which sold like crazy and ended up leading to Sony buying them.
I get it that part, about the rejection. But I feel like they went to Sony with a whole different proposition, with all their IPs and they could pick one. Cos it comes across as they, insomniac, was aware of Spider-Man (as huge fans) and was still given the option to pick any IP.

But there seems to be a huge year(s) gap between when they went to Xbox and than later to PlayStation. I wonder if they went to other pubs/devs to see if anyone was interested. I guess that’s what I’m getting at, like what happened in between….

I don't think it was years between I think it just took time to get the deal set up, they had to bring Insomniac in and of course get the game made.

Hmmm, perhaps. Only Marvel knows, I guess. But…..Why am I craving ramen at this hour? I don’t wanna drive to downtown or the air port to get some good ramen lol

They are not good for gaming but MS is getting more of them because? It doesn't make sense. If MS says they are bad, why is MS buying up publishers left and right to get exclusives out of them? The only reason they're doing it is because they know it's good (for them).

They aren't available to anybody. You need a Xbox or a PC and if you do cloud gaming, you need to be subscribed to the Xbox service. There's a difference. You can't play them on a Playstation or a Switch natively.

They could, there's always that possibility. They didn't have to, they were the first ones to start this acquisition war with Zenimax as the first domino lol.

The difference here is MS is acquiring publishers vs studios that Sony is acquiring.

6 more CODs including this year's (3 original contract + 3). So 5 extra after this year if the deal was agreed on by Sony.
Bungie is a publisher 🤷‍♂️

Yes, Tek is a good guy. He's just misunderstood.
Definitely not around here but ok whatever. He can block me at anytime, but I’m not going to put up with someone like him that ruins a community for the rest of us. His shtick has gotten old years ago. I shouldn’t have to block someone, he blocks some of us because we don’t put up with it.

Carry on 🤷🏻‍♂️

“Bungie will remain 100% independent and continue self-publishing its own games”

I stand corrected. Still different breed than Zenimax and Activision in terms of scale. Zenimax is worth double and Activision is like 20 times more. Why would MS complain about that especially since the deal says Bungie is still 100% independent. Is Zenimax and Activision 100% independent in their deals ?

Tek is a nice guy, same with Busterman and U2pop. I remember playing and voice chatting with them in Destiny 1 and Elden Ring even recently in Tek's case. He helped me with a boss in a moment's notice.

Heck, You're all probably nice guys here in real life but strong opinionated and obviously have your own biases. Just leave some of that testosterone at the door when you enter and leave this forum and it won't get so hot headed in here 😬

Bethesda and Activision are still publishing their own games even though MS owns them.

But this deal they would not be able to make their own decisions though right? Like they can't just decide to release multiplatform without getting MS's okay.

I don’t know all the ins and outs. But we know that MS will have a say if COD goes exclusive after 6 releases. But no company will sign contracts that have no end date.

Does the once multi platform dev Insomniac have the ability to choose to release multi platform?

My gaming situation does not equal to "anybody". Are you really pushing this narrative right now or just trolling ? lol
Between PCs and smartphones they sold over 700 million in 2021, that is on top of the billions already out there and not including tablets. So, yes, I am pushing that narrative because odds are the very vast majority of PS5 gamers own a compatible device.

And now we have TVs and PC monitors with it built in too.

It is funny how all you ponies crying about this actually have a GP compatible device. You're losing nothing but have the audacity to use the "would've got them anyway" argument. So funny.

No but they mainly catered to and released more on PlayStation anyways based on history so that made sense to acquire. Activision and Zenimax has released countless multiplatform titles so this is just a case of MS walling a garden in what was once a free green pasture for all to enjoy. Even if MS did not acquire Zenimax and Activision, they could have just worked out a Gamepass deal and other platforms could still have access to all their new IPs and games. Through this deal, MS is just preventing others from accessing all new titles unless you pay them.

You don't know that. Heck Jinca and Kvally here in this forum don't own gaming PCs in this small little nothing sample size on the internet lol.

You seem to forget MS has kept saying "we want gamers to play our games wherever they want". This isn't it. They forgot to add "but they have to subscribe to us and it may not be native".

Casual gamers won't mind the streaming latency but most hardcore gamers will and would almost always prefer playing native versions over cloud streaming. Heck, you probably yourself prefer native.

Awwww, thanks man.

I certainly wasn't trying to offend anyone. Perhaps I took it too far in making fun of Sony's reaction to MSFT's deal. I just found it funny and hypocritical. But both MSFT and & Sony will say whatever and then do something else.

Ironically, most of my gaming is done on PS5. Its not like I don't like gaming on my XSX though, but ever since the release of Elden Ring I've been on my PS5 much more consistently. So it goes without saying I'm a PS fan.

I've mentioned how Sony looks a little desperate with their opposition to the MSFT Acti/Blizz deal. But its not like I forgot how Sony's efforts have made MSFT pull out their checkbook for billions in response to Sony's steady release of quality games. And even with all the money MSFT is throwing at the situation they're still having issues with getting games out the door and for those that they do are not perfect. Just look at how gamers feel about Halo right now for evidence.

Bet they have a tablet or smartphone though. Don't need a gaming PC either.

Playstation gamers total 100 to 120 million, you seriously think the majority of them don't have one of these devices? Lol.

If you wanna play them on Playstation5 then tell and blame Sony.

Native or cloud is semantics. You aren't losing these games, they are available for anybody to play.

i said a long time a go he was fine to play with.

That doesn't excuse him of how he acts here.

Then why put on an act and behave the way he does here? That’s uncalled for and he will be treated accordingly.

Having a bias is one thing, treating people and the way he talks to people around here for years is another. He’s even admitted he does it on purpose.

It is funny. It is hypocritical. It should be ridiculed.

MS hasn't said whatever and done something else, though. People assume MS should give an indefinite contract, but that makes little sense in a dynamic and evolving industry. Even Minecraft doesn't do that. Sony wouldn't do it. Even marketing and DLC deals aren't done that way.

They may have one of those devices but do they want to play the Xbox games on them? For the casual play here and there, maybe but as a primary device? Think again. MS is supposed to be allowing us to play wherever we want, yeah? Where's our Xbox games if we want to play them natively on a Playstation or Switch. Even on a mobile device or tablet, where's our choices to decide to play it natively or via streaming. There is none. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of their statement.

If the statement was true, I'd be allowed to play Xbox games anywhere I wanted to, native or streaming.

Yes they are losing. Gamers who only play on a Playstation are losing these games because they don't have the option to play on their primary device anymore. They are forced to play what was once multiplatform native games on Playstation on another device.

i said a long time a go he was fine to play with.

That doesn't excuse him of how he acts here.

There's a lot of people who act funny around here but that's just the essence of a gaming forum. If someone's posts are bothering you that much, you can choose to ignore or even press that ignore button. There's always a choice ;)

Why let something so trivial bother you so much as to start throwing hands on the internet. Never got that mindset. It's just words and these are just games. Something we should be having fun talking about.

Then why put on an act and behave the way he does here? That’s uncalled for and he will be treated accordingly.

Having a bias is one thing, treating people and the way he talks to people around here for years is another. He’s even admitted he does it on purpose.

I don't know if it's an act, but maybe it's just the way he posts. If you or anyone has an issue with it, bring it up with a mod and if he's breaking the rules, he will be dealt with. Either way, don't think anyone should be that affected by a stranger on the internet (but kind of family since we've all been here since TXB?)
