JinCA Hey you! If you say anisotropic filtering is not free but refuse to elaborate on the how or why, would examples like this all over the internet be the reason why?

I wish some Indie company would produce a racing game with 1 unlicensed car running on 1 corridor track. Have it run at 10fps with floaty physics. Make it an Xbox One exclusive. But pump the crap into the graphics with all those high tech catch words to make it absolutely stunningly photo-realistic. Then wait to see if THL goes on an on for 3 pages arguing it is the most beautiful racing game ever made.

Just a dream I had.

Your dream has come true, and it is alive and kicking in Forza 6. See below, which is running at less than 10 fps and looks better than anything on the PS4 or PC. But you just wait for excuse A, B or C....incoming in 1, 2, and 3:

I think it's generally accepted that if your game runs at a solid 60 fps, you can't really knock it in terms of graphics in that area.
Fixed.

Less than 10fps? lol, I don't think so. Probably 30 though.

I was kidding. I was calling it 0 fps cuz it's a static image :)

That said, I would like to know what game ever made has cars that look better than that. I can't think of any.

No one judges a games graphics based on that. No one.

So this is interesting.

In splitscreen mode the Star Wars Battelfront Beta on Xbox One runs at a native resolution of 1920x1080. This is unlike the fullscreen modes which run at a native resolution of 1280x720. This means that each player has a 1920x540 view of the game

The sacrifice here is that it runs at half the frame rate - 30 FPS.

I assume that will be the same on PS4.

Further shows how much both consoles weren't designed to do 1080p at 60 FPS well.

Ohhh, that SONY is always passing around the bulls***.

Well he's not wrong there are plenty of games that are 1080P or 60FPS. Also at least its not as bad as the microsoft tweet that was along the lines of "Its outputted in 1080P so why does it matter?".

He means 1080P/60 fps games. And...uh...that isn't happening much.

But they promised the PS3 was going to be 120 fps, as well. SONY has a history of lying about that stuff.

They both lie so i don't see what the point of nailing one for it whilst ignoring the other.

Has there been a console that has more 1080p/60fps games than the PS4?

Not really seeing a lie here.

Well, one is using 1080p @60fps as a hook to sell their product. In truth, both machines rarely run both.

And Microsoft was trying to convince people that an upscaled output of 1080P was just as good as an actual 1080P game. I don't see the difference.

PS4 doesn't have a true 1080p @60fps game, bud. Only One does.

Does the locked 60 FPS (without any drops) at 1080p of Wolfenstein: The New Order not count?

or Diablo 3 post patch?

On the PS4 side (and to a lesser extent Xbox One), a bug that once caused frame-rate dips to animation and effects rendering is now entirely fixed (as of patch C.2.0.9.26396, seen on its splash screen). The net result? We no longer see drops to the low 40fps range on PS4, and instead, we're thrilled to see a perfect 60fps during all our test sections.

Do you mean platform exclusive, perhaps?

If you read the entire article the new order is using a scalable dynamic resolution based on the load for both platforms. So not 1080p 100 percent of the time. Most of the time though..,
PDATE 23/5/14 10:05: We've analysed more assets and now believe that a dynamic framebuffer is indeed in effect - on both Xbox One andPlayStation 4 versions. MachineGames does appear to be using the technique used in Rage, where horizontal resolution is scaled according to engine load in order to sustain 60fps. We've added a new shot above, demonstrating a scene where PC runs native 1080p, with both PS4 and Xbox One upscaling in the same area. However, the degree of scaling varies between the consoles, with PS4 holding the advantage and there are clearly scenes where the Microsoft console needs to scale, while PS4 remains at native.

What's it comparing? I see two videos that are on completely different settings. Left one is supersaturated and the contrast is way up as evident from the blown-out highlights. The one on the right the saturation is below normal and the contrast is beyond flat. Is this comparing different PC settings?

Only game I know of on the PS4 that I would consider fake 1080p when it claims it is, is The Order. That's as fake 1080p as it gets.
